  1. I bought into this because for $35, even if I ended up not liking it very much, no big deal. I was looking at Arturia's Collection 9, but I can't stomach the cost. But after demoing some of the Arturia stuff and now playing with Syntronik 2, I'm glad I went with Syntronik. It's just a really well thought out all-in-one synth engine. Sounds are great, variation seemingly limitless. And IK always makes plugins that are easy on the eyes. Controls are nice and big and I can see everything without reading glasses. Not an issue for everyone, but for me it makes a make or break difference. I've used a bunch of T-Racks for years that I continue to really like a lot. In any case, this GB has really taken off. I've only redeemed half of my "free" synths, and I'm already overwhelmed with options (not in a bad way). Anyone have any favorite synths they'd like to mention?

  2. I already bought Syntronik Deluxe previously, but decided to jump in on the group buy to pick up the 11 new instruments and add some support 🙂 For approximately $34 with jampoints, that's a pretty crazy price to get a whole heap, or maybe all of the Syntronik 2 synths!

  6. Which is fine. The only goal would be to collect them all. But if I'm being honest, there is absolutely a ton of redundancy in owning all of them. I've got 20 of them downloaded and installed already, and I can't imagine in a million years what kind of sounds I DON'T already have. A lot of them do very similar things with slight tonal variations. It's just hard to sort out which NOT to get. I've leaned into the newer ones first, and models that I know are in songs I like. After that it's just eeny meeny miney mo.

  12. Also just turn off vst scans on cakewalk startup. You don’t need to do that. You only need to scan after adding plugins or if you are having problems with plugins.

  13. Initial Audio Sektor updated to 1.6.2 Hi there, we have just updated Sektor to version 1.6.2 fixing a crash in some daw’s that occurred in certain scenarios. We have also been able to reduce cpu usage thanks to code optimizations. The update is available in my account at the updates tab. The full version installers have been updated as well. https://initialaudio.com/ Version 1.6.2 Fixed a crash in some daw’s that occurred in certain scenarios. v1.6.1 info:

  17. ...thanks to the over-aggressive Real Time Protection offered by Windows Defender (MsMpEng.exe). Some people suggest adding exclusions for all your VST folders, but that seems dangerous to me, given that VSTs are the only executable code I routinely download and run on my rig, and "check out this great new free VST from some guy" seems like a pretty good attack vector. Note that adding folder exclusions excludes the files from being scanned ever, even in scheduled/manual Quick or Full Scans. Instead, in Windows Security's Virus & Threat Protection settings | Exclusions add a pair of Process Exclusions for C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\VstScan.exe C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\Cakewalk.exe The latter is probably unnecessary, but what the heck. Anyway, Cakewalk startup happens much more quickly (over 1000 VSTs scanned/installed on this system), and any Defender system scans will still check all the VSTs for naughtiness.

  19. I've had Syntronik 2 Full since less than a week before the SYN2GB was announced. So, I don't need more than the 11 new ones. At present, I have 14 promos available that are useless to me. Wishful Thinking: Wouldn't it be great (as in a 3-way win-win-win scenario) if after the SYN2GB ends and it doesn't go all the way to 33 Instruments, loyal customers (say for example, those who have paid cash to IK of over $300 since first becoming customers) are given an opportunity to gift (i.e., no transfer fee) unused/unneeded promos to other customers to fill in their collections? Gifters win because their duly earned promos don't go to waste; giftees win because they get to round out their collections; IK wins because when new IK synths and bundles come out all customers will have wonderful feelings about IK and will likely spend more money to up-/cross-/max grade to products that include what they already have.

  22. I think it's going to bother me more to finish with only a few models short than it would be if it ended with about 15-20. SOOO close to getting the whole thing. Right now I've got 5 more unredeemed. I've got 7 more synths I've marked as ones I want, the others as a non-priority. But the more I use the ones I have and the more I'm finding I like them, I'm definitely now wanting them all. I'm having a hard time imagining there's a rush in the last couple days. The deal is ALREADY such a good one. Any hold-outs have already bought in probably. It was 885 to go Friday afternoon. We've gone 70 in 48 hours. So MAYBE we'll get another 300 by the end if we're lucky?!

  23. Clear the selection in the track view Then open the Export dialog, select one of the Tracks presets at the top of the dialog, uncheck any Tracks not to export under Sources, click Export. If it will be run multiple times, consider creating a task. For more info about the Export dialog see http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x2026A

  27. The presets are organized differently with the Triton vs. the Triton Extreme. The regular Triton includes all 8 of the factory expansion library EXB-PCM cards. The TRITON comes with every one of the original TRITON preset programs. In the Triton Extreme all patches are organized into factory banks containing most of the waveforms. No EXB PCM cards. https://www.korg.com/us/products/software/kc_triton/

  28. One thing about audio quality the differential between pro and consumer tools these days is it ain’t as large as the old days. A modern cheap interface is a lot closer in sound to the big boys these days. You can do quality work with most modern units. You could in the past too but you needed skill and experience to get good sound from 1/32 of an inch of tape and it still wasn’t the same.

  29. Many thanks to all for replying to my question! That's the power of the community and I really appreciate it! Since my VPC-1 is quite new - assuming that my keys are working just fine - I focused on Variorum's and John Vere's suggestions. I tried all four possible combinations of VST midi output enabled/disabled and track input echo auto-on. All four still gave me the ghost notes. Variorum's suggestion then solved the problem for me. Luckily I am not experiencing lack of expression sofar by switching from 3 sensor to 2 sensor! Cheers, Waldemar

  34. I ve been using sonar sinc day one. Introduced it to SAE via roland and with vs 700 systems , teached on it , hyped it , made people switch from cours to videos ... that s why i m here ... i m here because gibson made us shake with a trauma ...and we together with valuable people around here that i really consider friends , we ve been on a journey to find new daws ... This gave us the opportunity to really appreciate stuff around and also how sonar was great and at the same time was mossing stuff ... I still use sonar and my son , is starting on it ... I m asking question here becuse i know i will have serious answers ... bapu s one actually made me investigate and you can de activate the scan at start ( i knew but ) but did ya know that then from explorer if you launch a scan it will #can only new plugin so no need to re activate scan at start when new plugins installed ... oops this might be to much cafeine for the owners ,....

  41. Google gives: Musiclabs Rhytm.n.chords. That plugin is no longer available. Seems it some sort of blend with an arpeggiator, step sequenser and midi patterns for guitarchords. The lack of a guitar instrument and chord patterns make an adaption impossible because the bass instrument doesn't have chords. The TS have to find a third party plugin.

  44. Here's the full change log. For a "dot" update (from x.x.0 to x.x.1), this is pretty major. Really happy they added ASIO support to the Windows standalone version. EDIT: Also loving the reduced CPU hit! Version 1.6.1 Added a visible menu for polarity to the expression envelopes. Was only accessible via right click Menu before. Added an MPE visual keyboard for when Sektor is in MPE Mode. Added support for ASIO drivers on Windows in the standalone app. Added support for bluetooth midi devices on Windows in the standalone app. Improved point deleting behaviour in the Modulation envelopes. Reduced CPU of the oscillators by ~50% when not modulating the wavetable position or pitch. With a reduction of ~40% when modulating. Reduced the CPU use of the LFOs by ~50% When reloading a project if a destination wasn’t enabled, enabling it didn’t work. Fixed bluetooth midi not working in standalone on Mac OS 11 Fixed MPE Mode not working correctly. Fixed the delay mix reseting to full mix in certain situations. Fixed right click delete points in the expression envelopes deleting the wrong point. Stability fixes.

  45. I seriously thought that this had already been addressed (no pun). Or was it only how Cakewalk would usurp the next available port for control surface duty if you started with your USB MIDI control surface unplugged? And yes, Windows manages USB ports, but so what? That does NOT mean that Cakewalk should lose track and shuffle them around if you unplug a device and then restart the program. I believe that each USB MIDI device gets its own GUID, but even if that's not the case, most of the ones I've seen have unique friendly names, which Cakewalk can and does read (it displays them, after all). Just because Windows manages them doesn't mean that Cakewalk can't or shouldn't gather and maintain its own information about them. So IMO, Cakewalk doesn't have to lose track (no pun). Even if I'm wrong about the GUID's, at worst it might be lose track in the case of two USB MIDI devices with the same friendly name, which is a thing that I've yet to see. If you want to see the information that Cakewalk can get from the OS regarding USB ports and devices, there's a freeware utility called USBDeview (scroll alll the way down to download it) that will show you. Each USB device has a manufacturer number and a product ID, which you can also read right from Device Manager: https://www.the-sz.com/products/usbid/ There's plenty of information supplied by the OS to distinguish one USB MIDI port from another. A program should be able to look at that list, notice which devices are still there from the last time it started, which of them are not, and retain its configuration for the ones that are still there. As the OP points out, there are other Windows programs that don't have the same issue, which suggests that it's possible to address. I thought that it had been addressed. It no longer causes trouble for me, anyway, but that might just be for the control surface issue.
