  1. This thread has run its course, so I'm going to put a lock on it. Please feel free to create new threads about any relevant issues, and we'll be happy to investigate. Thanks!

  2. Lifetime license (10 years). That’s strange, now lifetime means the life span of a dog…

  3. This thread has my stomach in knots. I really hate the idea of paying a 3rd party (iLok) a ransom to get the licenses that I bought back...

  4. Had to start a new thread as this is great news. Snap Heap will be $29 in June but free until then, as it was free before, but now comes with 30 free plugins instead of 5. https://kilohearts.com/products/kilohearts_essentials

  6. Hi there, greetings from Embody! thanks for your interest in Immerse Virtual Studio Alan Meyerson! Just saw your comments and wanted to say that we're really sorry about the confusion created around this "lifetime" thing (I really hope my dog lives over ten years!!). We actually propose a one time payment license for 10 year duration. The word lifetime is being removed to make things clear. The reason why we limit the license to 10-year duration is because as the studio upgrades its gear which it often does, our acoustics team measures it again and brings you the most current sound of Alan’s studio as a free upgrade. During the license duration of 10-years, maintenance, and upgrades are all included. Should you have any comments or questions, I'll be glad to follow up with you. Thanks!

  9. I don't need these. Why did I come here? Hey this looks tempting! 🤔 Maybe I could use a few of these. Probably wouldn't hurt to have them laying around just in case. Right?

  15. Sounds like you're running CbB as Administrator. Windows automatically disables drag/drop between applications running as non-admin and admin. Very likely but rather that discuss the differences between CbB and SONAR X3 here, I hope @usalabs elects to create their own thread so that whatever problems they have may be addressed there rather than in this OP's farewell thread.

  18. Incorrect information. CbB started development from the last version of SONAR Platinum. The first CbB release was in fact identical other than a few bug fixes. There were exactly zero teething problems other than transitioning the activation system and some installer changes to removed bundled 3rd party licensed plugins. There is no comparison to any prior version of SONAR anymore. Cbb is a vastly improved and more stable program with thousands of bug fixes and hundreds of new features since then.

  19. The documentary Joy Division…The film assembles TV clips, newsreel, pictures of modern Manchester and Manchester in the late 1970s, and interviews. The interviewees include the three surviving members of the group, Tony Wilson, Peter Saville, Pete Shelley(of Buzzcocks), Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (of Throbbing Gristle), Alan Hempsall (of Crispy Ambulance), Paul Morley, Terry Mason, Richard Boon, Anton Corbijn, and Belgian journalist Annik Honoré, with whom Ian Curtis was having an affair. hope you are feeling better!

  21. Nevermind! Apparently Chrome got cranky for some reason. Exiting and restarting it, and now (non-Admin) CW can launch 'help' tabs as usual. "Have you tried turning it off and then back on again?"

  23. It’s been a while but I lowered the pitch of a song by a whole step ( E down to D). and I’m pretty sure I just used the same transpose I use for Midi short cut N. it was 2 Acoustic guitars and an electric lead. Worked just fine. But as Bitflipper has said the tracks need to be clean. It one reason I try and start with as much midi as possible until I do the vocals. I always record the final guitar parts after the vocals so I don’t walk all over them.

  24. Don't try pitch-shifting stereo tracks. Don't try it on guitars that are heavily effected. It won't work well on anything that has a lot of unpitched content, such as tuned percussion. Clean mono tracks only. Make sure you're not over-thinking it. If the vocalist struggles to hit a few high notes, for instance, it would be a lot easier to pitch-shift just those problematic notes on the vocal.

  27. This is something I find myself doing, but more by accident than design. A short time ago I found myself watching a documentary about Fleetwood Mac - a band that have never been on my radar. The two main things I took away from it were: I didn't realise how many Fleetwood Mac songs I actually knew; and Stevie Nicks is really, really, really annoying.

  30. Not my experience, here is a video using CbB showing the import behavior attributed to X3. It works the same way regardless of the project track count. If there are specific issues, it may be better to address them in a new thread rather than appending them to this old thread.

  31. In my experience, you can pitch shift +/- about 2 half steps. Beyond that vocals and acoustic instruments start getting noticably wonky. If you record your electric guitars DI and do the amp modelling in-the-box, you can go a little further with pitch shifting, as feeding the shifted (DI) through an amp sim will mask quite a bit the added artifacts. Obviously you can get away with more shifting if the amp is heavily distorting the signal. Not so much if you're feeding it into a squeaky clean Fender Twin or Roland JC-120 model.

  37. New song I've just finished. My main Studio Projects B1 mic went noisy after a few takes, so nearly all vocal and guitars were recorded with a cheapy T Bone MB85 beta mic from Thomann (£35). I think it a very decent mic for the price!

  39. Hi Niky, After 10-years, the plugin license will expire. We want to make our products accessible to users by offering a long term license (10-years) at a reasonable price without them worrying about to pay for new features and upgrades every year or so.

  42. Does "for Spark and Apollo" mean that UAD aren't making new plugs for satellite owners? It's annoying enough that they don't give two hoots about Windows users, without Windows satellite users being doubly shafted!

  43. When originally released, it was a single plug-in modeled on the hardware. The current release includes the original plug-in along with separate gate and compressor plug-ins. Seems like a decent price for 3 plug-ins. I paid $66.36 in 2016 for the original version. Can't say I use it all that much but then again, I have quite a few dynamics plug-ins before including all the channel strips with built-in dynamics processors.

  45. If this poor implementation of things it actually purports to do were changed, it would actually be my DAW of choice, but this way many functions which are actual functions of the DAW - so they shouldn't be a stretch - are barely functional. I've tried various stuff - Harrison, Reaper, after coming from Reason, but all have their limitations. They don't misbehave like that, but are limited or overcomplicated in other things. I'll look into them some more. Still waiting for Luna for Windows. Reaper actually has a knob by which you can vary the tempo - absolutely no issues - no clip rearangements, no trimming problems, no clips jumping 500 bars, no nothing. I normally do, until the guy gets butthurt that "he was doing it wrong" - it was about him after two lines - with an answer that didn't address the problem in the first place. You know, dropping by just to let people know they're doing things wrong - without knowing what they're actually doing, or bothering to check what the problem is - and he's doing them right 😉. Hey, @bdickens congrats, man! @InstrEd This IS preproduction for me. You get to decide on tempos beforehand when you have a band to rehearse with, and have all the parts and structure figured out before recording. That's how I did it, too, when I was in a band - and if the guy had left smugness aside, he would have known that's normal - nothing revolutionary about it. But since I record everything myself, the playback in the DAW IS my band, and rearranging parts and playing them at different tempos is exactly how I can replicate figuring the parts out with "my band" - especially this song that comes out in pieces - the hardest to take shape of all my work - and now impossible, thanks to CW not working. But regardless of all this, I don't think giving advice on your workflow - even if doable or relevant - is needed to justify reporting bugs in the program 😳. I fail to see how those (huge) bugs would be alright on a different workflow. It's like some people want the programs to work badly, just so they can prove some (imaginary) point. Egos get inflated, the problem stays. Anybody want it fixed? I do. And, objectively, I think it should be.
