Go to the bottom of the page to download. https://www.toneboosters.com/changelog.html Manuals at the bottom of this page: https://www.toneboosters.com/support.html This is a great opportunity to try out this Dev. For some reason I've never bought their stuff, but they seem very highly regarded AND very inexpensive to boot!

  2. I'm not getting anywhere as a YouTuber. Sure, I'll have 1000 subscribers by March or April (currently 953) , but you need 4000 yearly hours and I only have 3000 hours. And even if I had 4000 hours, it might make me a YouTube partner, but I'd still be nowhere. The problem is that I spend weeks making videos. So I'm switching to something I can do effortlessly so I can do more of them. So yes, it's not music software, but maybe you will find my behind-the-scenes showbiz stories interesting. I'll also be talking about movie marketing, which may be helpful to some musicians trying to figure out how to promote themselves. Let me know Larry, if it's out of line for me to put future ones here. But I feel like everybody here is a friend and they might be willing to follow me even into non-musical activities.

  3. They basically never run sales otherwise I'm sure they would get much more love from the deals forum. The pricing model is very reasonable and lots of people would consider them to be a deal at the normal prices. EQ4 is IMO among the best on the market. Beautiful UI and features somewhat similar to Melda AutoDynamicEQ, but easier to use, i.e. nodes are active by default, no need to double click on things). And Barricade has long been considered a go to Limiter

  4. Here's the update on today's tests. I moved the camera around and problem solved. I will be looking at the camera for the third video, MOSQUITO COAST, which should be out by Thursday or Friday. LOUISE BROOKS will be out by Monday. I can easily do two a week until I build up a stash. When people find a video, I want there to be a bunch of other ones there for them to try. Maybe after a while I will slow down to one a week, but at this point I think the more content up there the better. I can't figure out what is wrong with the sound. I'm recording with a mono mic into a Beachtek. It is going into the right channel, which is the only XLR. The left channel is for using two mics. It's output stereo. What I'm doing this weekend is that I split the channels into two files using Audacity and then I'm remixing them in Cubase. I could also just bring the two files directly into Premiere, I guess. Any suggestions about the best way to deal with this? It doesn't take long. There's no question that this is my most successful video. 298 views already, which is more than the Betty Page video from a month ago. And I now have 974 subscribers, up from 953 when I uploaded it. If that keeps up, I'll be passing 1000 very soon. A much bigger hurdle is the 4000 yearly hours. I was at 2950. In a day it's 2990. So if this keeps up I'll get to 4000 in three or four weeks. But with many videos, maybe it will be even sooner than that. I feel like I'm on my way. Thanks for all your encouragement and support.

  5. Also, I did get bothered that Madonna would be rude and insulting to you. Personally, if I had my choice of hanging out at the nerd table with Reid or the cool kid table with Madonna, the choice would be easy, I'd choose Reid.

  9. People here are helping me in a way that only people here could ever help me. It is so appreciated. I wish I read this before I shot the next video. Oh well, people seem to like it. YouTube is really all about Search. Somebody wants to find out about a certain kind of software. They search and discover Simeon. And then they hear him play and his passion for what he does... and they are hooked on Simeon. They want to watch all his videos. The celebrities in my videos are searchable. I've been told there are a few people out there who are fans of Madonna. It will just keep adding up. I did Louise Brooks today (not a star that everybody knows, but a beautiful story) but next week I am thinking about "The Mosquito Coast" so that will be Harrison Ford and River Phoenix and Helen Mirren. On and on. I've encountered a lot of people over more than 40 years as a publicist. So many stories that I'll have to break it up. I will eventually do another 3 or 4 videos on "Desperately Seeking Susan," but I didn't want to do them all in a row, so that people think this is a DSS Channel. And I'll seed these things in social media eventually. The first goal is to get five or six of them up as soon as I can. If people discover one video, I want to have some other things around for them to try. Hopefully with not too many reflections on my glasses! You really have to be extraordinary to make it on YouTube. I don't have dreams like that, but what I was doing was not working at all. It would be nice if it would give off enough $$ to pay for my expenses in making them. And I'll still put up videos of my own music because I enjoy it, and I'll do the occasional music software video.

  11. I would love to send a MIDI track to multiple instruments (VST or external). I know you can duplicate a track easily enough but then you have an editing problem keeping them synchronized. I suspect this requires the concept of "patch points" or AUX tracks for MIDI - you'd create a new patch destination for your MIDI track, then select it as an input for two or more MIDI or Instrument tracks. I guess you'd need to prevent a MIDI track from both sending and receiving from the same PatchPoint/AUX track.

  12. “THESE DAYS” - FOO FIGHTERS COVER Dave Grohl calls this the best song he’s ever written, and I think he’s right. The Foo Fighters is one of the handful of bands that my entire family (my wife and our two teenage kids) enjoys and this is my favorite song from the band. For those who don't know anything about me. I grew up the son of a music teacher and professional musician with my first instrument being piano, then organ, then drums (I later took some guitar lessons, but never got proficient on the instrument). When I was 5, my three siblings decided to form a family band and asked me to play drums -- after a short time, I fell in love with the drums. At 5, my first rock album was Zeppelin III. By 7, I heard Who's Next and was certain that I was going to be a rock drummer. From 18 until around 30 I played drums semiprofessionally, had a chance to join a major band named Veruca Salt whose lead singer saw me play with Chicago area band, I declined, and a few years later got painful tendinitis that stopped me from playing (in the late 90s). I still can only play for a few minutes on the drums before I have pain, so I really can't practice anymore and get to playing anywhere near the level I did even as a kid. But age and the pandemic caused me to spend more and more time wishing I could express myself musically. So almost a year ago, more than 20 years since I stopped playing, I decided to just play and record some of the music I wrote years ago and some covers. Unfortunately, I was never a lead singer. I did background vocals and that's really all my voice was good enough to do. So, there's my story. Now unto the details on my arrangement of this song. My arrangement varies from the original in a number of ways, but especially in two of the major ways: (1) The tempo of my version is around 10 BPM slower than the original. I felt that allowed me to create a more R&B feel during the verses and a bluesy feel during the pre-choruses (particularly the second one where I came up with a slide acoustic guitar part). (2) I added a number of instruments not part of the original song and came up with original parts on those instruments: acoustic guitar, piano, electric piano, organ and strings (I also added a synthesizer and tambourine). I played all the parts you hear live to click track using a total of 23 tracks. No parts were programmed. And yes, when I was playing the drums in the chorus, I totally had my Keith Moon hat on.

  14. I'm trying to sort my numerous Uncategorized plugins into correct categories in the Browser. It's very hard, because the Browser follows the moved plugins to the category they were moved to, and I have to find the spot I was on again to continue assigning them to categories. Would it be possible to add a modifier key to the move operation (shift, ctrl) so that the browser stays where it is after moving the plugins? Or even change the operation so that we always stay where we are? We know the plugins went into the category we sent them to, so why go to that category and show the plugins there, selected? This would very much help me sort out my overly excessive collection of plugins. 😁 -Pete

  16. I think this could be big as a series instead of one long video. People love love love insight into entertainment and celebrities from insider. Your relaxed style works for this type of sharing. I'm probably a bit biased because I used to do tv ads and got to stories being 30 seconds. I think tweaking the titles of these individual segments to something honest but more clickbait like might give you traffic.

  17. I beg to differ. Magix has made remarkable effort to destabilize and bloat the software. They should just rename it Booze, to stick with the theme of recreational drugs but better communicate the experience you're to expect; difficulties walking straight, and a hangover. Not the "mind blown" that original Acid might have delivered back in the day.

  23. This is a pain in the neck for me, too. Also the fact that whatever folder you moved it to stays open, which makes for a cluttered browser after a couple of plug-in moves. How about a special "New Plug-ins" folder where a plug-in could be found the first 5 times you opened Cakewalk after installing it?

  28. What a treat to hear this! Great job on a really cool song. Guitar tones are spot on, and the vocals turned out surprisingly well! Mixwise I could only add maybe less severe panning on the vocals, they are really out there on the edge and could do with a bit more blended focal point. Might be worth a check. Super cool job here, thanks!

  29. Thank you. Hopefully the storytelling will get people past the technical problems. But I'll try to improve that, of course. Even Rick Beato's first videos... I think it may be working. Eight new subscribers since I put it up hours ago. Normally I get one new one a day. 953 then. 961 now. Let's see if this lasts. Of course some of those may be people who liked my Emvoice video.

  30. Thanks for the advice everybody, It's appreciated. I'm so glad I put it up here because this is the kind of feedback I couldn't get anywhere else. I already shot a second video, but I'll do some more tests before the third one. I think the one I shot today is a little bit better at me looking into the camera, but I'll let you tell me. Now that I know it's a big problem, I have more ideas for looking at the camera in the third video. First I would say that with the videos I used to do is that they would take a few hours to set up all the lights and audio and a few hours to take down. I had lights that had to be set up on heavy stands that needed sand bags, and cables that needed to be taped down. I had reflectors. All kinds of things that had to be unpacked, I had many issues with sound and was constantly working on it. So the idea of this was that I would have my camera and mic always set up and just use my Elgato lights. Hang up the backdrop (5 minutes), turn everything on and go. That's why I just did a new video in an hour. The Emvoice video was two weeks. . I am very depressed that it seems like it's read. Not one word of it is read. It's completely just me talking. I did it four times and each time it was different, because I thought of different things that I wanted to talk about. These are stories about my life. One of the things that makes this go fast is I don't have to write a script, just decide what the story is. But maybe what you're saying is that because I'm not looking at the camera, I looks like I'm looking at notes. If so, I'm going to have to do a better job looking at the camera. In terms of reflections... In the past I really did spend a lot of time trying to solve that, reading up and watching videos and then moving my lights around, and up and down. Over and over and over. I was obsessed trying to get it right. The lights are supposed to be high. You can angle your glasses. It's a sore point. I spent hours on it and was never happy. (Then I discovered that there are reflections all over the place on CNN!) So I decided with these videos, ***** the reflections. All my lights and stands are going to stay in their bags. But thank you for telling me it's a problem. I'll give it another look. It's lazy to just give up on it. Thanks for the great note about the audio. It was recorded with one mic in mono, but I think the problem is that I have very little hearing in my left ear, so I don't pay attention if I hear less on the left. I assume it's just me. Next time I'll look at the meters. Thank you! It can always be better. Video #2 should be up Sunday or Monday. I'll fix the sound at least. Hopefully you will see more improvement in Video #3, which will be out next week.

  34. 99% of mics are mono - but you need to 'pan' them to the centre to make the audio come out of both speakers on a stereo file. Lots and lots of ways to this but it you are mixing in Cubase then just check on headphones before you export the final mix - and look at the meters too. It's a long time since I've looked at Premiere but you can do it there if you prefer.....just double check on the meters/headphones. If you get stuck then PM me and send me the audio and I'll fix it for you - it's a 2 minute job.

  38. In fact, I just took a run to check and everything is available. I'm just a little confused about what you mean by invert between the mouse left click - alt+left click note drawing. Are you talking about reverse or transpose? DAWs have different names and languages for their features. So what you're requesting might be called something else here. EXAMPLE: Bounce to clip in Cakewalk is called "commit to clip" in another DAW. Then there's a different DAW that calls its Freeze clip, "Lock track" which freezes and locks the clip at the same time.
