  1. I would like to dedicate my 1000th post on the CW forum to all who have made this forum the best place to hang out on the Internet. First and foremost, to King Larry, without whom our wallets would be fuller and our hard drives emptier. Your tireless work is unequalled. To Fleer, who more than not, has pushed me over the edge when I was undecided about making a purchase. To Bapu, whose post count and Toontrack collection is something to which we can only dream of aspiring. To Tiger the Frog, whose window into the past of composing for film are both inspiring and entertaining. To Simeon, whose playing is so effortless, that I have made purchases based on his videos only to realize that you actually need talent to make the plugins sound as good as Simeon can make them. And to countless others whose presence here have provided hours of entertainment, good advice, and a real sense of community.

  4. I've been posting movements from my new oboe concerto. I finished the 3rd movement today and am posting it, so the composition is now complete. I am thinking about recording it also with a live oboist when COVID is really over, but for now I think the VSL oboe sounds good. PLAY

  10. I always used to get excited when the Feedback loop and Early Access section would prompt new bold letters when theres new topics and releases. Lately though, its just been the web installer and old ideas - which are great of course. I guess 2021.22.102 was it. We have everything we need, no more feature ideas. 😞 Not even suggestion pop up 🤣 guess it's a wrap. On a serious note: There's really not much left that's needed other than maybe just improvement on what there is already and maybe one or two features that other daws are busy adapting. Literally there's nothing needed anymore (we're not talking about a sampler for now.) The Bakers really deserve an Award for all their hard work and commitment for bringing this product to the clouds.

  13. It's a $69 upgrade, but I asked nicely and just picked it up for $39. 🙂 It looks like the website has been updated with the $69 price now. Sorry guys. And thanks @Doug Rintoul ! And now I need to stop checking this damn website everyday... 🤨

  14. I'm saving Kavinsky, Strawberry Fields, and Stardust for the next round! I think that Floyd, JMJ, Tangerine Dream, and Vangelis had the overall biggest influence on my early interest in electronic music. However my initial interest in synths was sparked by the first time I ever heard "Switched-On Bach" performed on a Moog synth by Wendy (Walter) Carlos. I was hooked forever!

  18. I thought the same thing but then watched the "See the Cymbal Effects in Action Video" and realized that the library is capable of doing more than just 'traditional' cymbal stuff. I'm not sure if I'm going to get this one (I've only bought a few so far), but here are a few 'creative' patch examples for those who might be interested: https://youtu.be/wwvNnmoMSKs?t=579 https://youtu.be/wwvNnmoMSKs?t=1182 https://youtu.be/wwvNnmoMSKs?t=1965

  25. @Herbert Miron - The discontinuation of VST2 plugins only really affects Plugin manufacturers who didn't sign a developer agreement prior to 2018. Those who have a developer agreement signed before 2018 can continue to release VST2 plugins if they wish. What Steinberg's statement is saying is that new developers cannot release VST2 plugins - only VST3 ones. Also, as far as I can tell, this affects the releasing of plugins, not plugin hosts (such as Cakewalk and other DAWs). Cakewalk will continue to support VST2 plugins and has no plans to discontinue support for them.

  27. Just a heads-up for anyone interested in these high quality, royalty free field recordings (almost 1Tb). You can still get this for a reduced price ($18.98) using the code VENUSTHEORY Click on the BUY DIGITAL DISCOGRAPHY link on the page in Larry's post and enter the code. This includes 473 releases and a huge variety of material. Here's Venus Theory's video where he uses them to design an impact sound.

  32. This is a bit misleading. It is not buy one plugin, get two plugins free. It is buy one plugin and get Multiphonics and one Soundpack free. Not that I really care. I already have all AAS's plugins.

  36. I noticed that a few were done by Nori for both companies. I doubt they are the same, but some are probably close. I have the SynthMaster Everything bundle. My preference would still be to get them from Arturia anyway, since I have the full V Collection. It would be cool to see how he set up the actual controls on a model of the original synth front panel vs. with how it is done in SynthMaster with waveform samples in the oscillator and generic SynthMaster controls for filter, LFO, mod matrix, etc.

  39. 48 hours only: release The Beast Harness Kerry King's signature sound. For super-high gain and punchy articulation in one rig, there's only The Beast. And right now, this animal of an amp is just $39. Check it out. Get 60% off Kerry King Signature Use this checkout code in the next 48 hours to get Kerry King Signature at an exclusive price of $39 (reg. $99): KERRYKING60 A faithful emulation of the Kerry King Signature amplifier, Marshall 2203KK a.k.a. “The Beast” Two studio setups and one live stage setup recorded respectively by producer Terry Date and FoH engineer Chris Paccou Over 25 finely tuned Kerry King-inspired presets that define the sound of Kerry King Amp Room Ready: works as a native plug-in and as a module in Amp Room, our pro audio guitar platform. Thrash metal is visceral, energetic, aggressive. Getting the right depth and texture of sound, the right bite in the attack, the right snarl on the tail, is essential. You need an amp like a wild animal, like a fighter, like a beast. Kerry King has spent four decades at the vanguard of the scene, blazing trails and busting guts with his edgy in-your-face sound, so naturally his signature amp – the custom Marshall 2203KK, a.k.a. “The Beast” – is the only place to start if you’re after super high gain and punchy articulation in a single rig. Beast Mode "Beast Mode" engages Kerry's own signature EQ-boost-and-gate combo for an extra million percent of awesome. Expert engineers We brought in Kerry's own engineers, Terry Date for studio setups, and Chris Paccou for live, to give the most authentic, mix-ready version of Kerry's sound possible. Component-modeled for perfection Close enough is not good enough for Kerry, for Marshall, or for Softube. So we go component-by-component to build the most detailed software models possible. More than an amp Signature amps are nothing new – this plug-in is a model of the custom hardware Kerry King signature amp from Marshall, closely recreating Kerry's very own unit with all its quirks and special sauce. What's extra-special about this plug-in is the detail beyond the amp itself – down to the cab, the microphones, the engineers, the spaces, we've built a complete mix-ready workflow. The amp’s four KT88 power stage tubes have been expertly modeled, along with every other individual component of this premium unit, to give the most accurate software emulation imaginable. But that’s only the beginning of the signature experience. Top experts in thrash tone We recorded impulse responses from Kerry’s own Marshall Mode Four 4x12” cabinets (featuring Celestion G12K-100 12” speakers) at the famous Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles with multiple professional mic selections and placements designed by iconic producer/engineer Terry Date, famous for his work with Deftones, Pantera, Dream Theater, and Overkill. So down to the cab, the room, the microphones, you’re getting all the top-quality studio sound of a mix-ready thrash setup. On top of that, we visited with Kerry at a stadium show in Stockholm in 2018 to capture his on-stage live setup too, overseen by FoH engineer Chris Paccou. There’s huge variety in this plug-in, and yet at every setting it sounds phenomenal; curated by the world’s leading engineers in these tones. The Kerry King Cabs panel In addition to the amp itself, the plug-in provides a complete setup and workflow for getting mix-ready sounds. Both studio and live setups are represented in the side panel with cabs and microphones recorded in real world situations for the greatest depth and authenticity of sound. You can take the recommendations of Terry Date, engineer for some of the greatest bands in the history of heavy music, or tweak and combine them in the 'custom' section, with a channel for each specific microphone placement offering pan, volume, and phase. Explore every fantastic facet of this amp's sound. The real thing Making great music requires a mix of hard work and inspiration. We've done a ton of hard work on this plug-in so you can get inspired by using the very same gear as a verifiable colossus of the thrash metal scene. So whether you’re engaging “Beast Mode” and smashing a stadium with Kerry’s own signature EQ-boost-and-gate combo, or laying down gutsy layers in the studio, you can rely on the Softube Marshall Kerry King Signature amp to get you sounding bigger, better, and beastlier than any mere human should. Perfect for Amp Room Kerry King Signature comes with modules that are fully integrated into the Amp Room ecosystem and sound exactly the same as the native version of the plug-in. If you already own Amp Room, you definitely need this amp. Amp Room is the pro audio guitar and bass platform, designed with sound quality as top priority. It’s just like having a real amplifier with a miked up speaker cabinet in a high-end studio – with the added convenience of more options to patch in any kind of studio tool you need anywhere in the chain. Here's Ola Englund trying it out:
