  2. Just a heads up - I'm getting a lot of crashes with the BIAB 2022 plugin. This doesn't seem to be a CbB issue, as it crashes Reaper too. Studio One 5 doesn't crash, but frequently pops up error dialogs. I've raised a support ticket with PG Music. The crash only seems to happen when the UI is open, so you can mitigate the issue for now by turning off the audio engine before opening the plugin UI. You can switch off the engine by clicking this button: If it's white as shown above, this means the engine is running... so just click it to turn it off before opening the BIAB plugin UI.

  6. I want to warn you that if you do this too much you may fall into a trap where you start using something called a “spreadsheet” and even worse stick to something called a “budget”. These will crush your GAS. I lost some friends to this “budget” thing. I warn kids about it…nasty stuff.

  9. Thanks! The more time I spend with Vital, the more I like it. I have probably bought AT LEAST two dozen commercial soft synths -- okay, probably a lot more -- but Vital, which anyone can download for free, has become my favorite of all.

  12. Howdy. This is another Christmas song my brother and I recorded back around 89 on a 4 track tape machine. He sent me the master tapes a few weeks ago and I transferred them in to my DAW and cleaned them up and added some new stuff. As with the other one, I used Ozone 9 Advanced to mix and master it. I wasn't happy with how the original instruments were mixed down on tape and I couldn't fix it so I used the drums as a marker and re-recorded everything except his vocal track. It's the only thing original to the recording we made in 89. My Brother: Vocal (1989). Me: Everything except the vocal track. (2021) It's true to the non-quantized original recording we did. No quantizing, or studio trickery. I used my Epiphone Sheraton II, Free high quality glockenspiel samples from University of Iowa, Cakewalk SI Bass, a free Christmas jingle and sleigh bell VST, and Session Drummer 3. All played live. It's modeled after the original by Lynn Anderson. The fast walkdown guitar part was murder. I must have done 150 takes trying to get the timing right. It's a lot harder than it sounds. Hah. As with the other one I used the meters extensively. Any input good or bad is always welcome on the mix, performance. Anything. Thanks again. Hope everyone enjoys. Thanks for listening. Merry Christmas.

  15. I like their plugins. I own a few and use them regularly. Their marketing focuses on "lo-fi" and ambient type music, but they can be used in a number of genres like neo-soul and modern RnB.

"Also, is it possible to copy pan settings to multiple tracks, or pan them simultaneously, as I will be adding these to 34 tracks, 17 L and 17 R?" --- Yes, select all the tracks you intend to work on; Ctrl Click while you pan one of them. All tracks will follow. Another method: select all tracks - Assign them to a group. See videos. Video 1.mp4 Video 2.mp4

  21. It's a system designed to impulse buy. Honestly, kinda disgusting but also addictive. This is why I prefer companies that do more honest sales - preferably the ones who do a sales that run for a long time like 2 to 4 weeks, where I can think about, plan, etc. But I also don't stop buying PA, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  27. My son is a Vital "power user" and loves it. The sounds he gets out of the software are pretty amazing! I'm a total newbie with the sound design stuff. But between Vital, MSoundFactory and now Phaseplant, I can't possibly imagine I'll need another synth - ever.... Although, well-done UIs can be very inspiring and good for launching ideas. i.e. Abyss

  34. A White Dwarf Star is a Dead Star. They have burned up all of the hydrogen they once used as nuclear fuel. Fusion in a star's core produces heat and outward pressure, but this pressure is kept in balance by the inward push of gravity generated by a star's mass. This is more a Soundscape than a musical tune, the last dying breaths of a Star. 35. Day Dreaming Afternoon This is a video using a song I wrote a few months ago. I downloaded some video clips from Pixabay and iStock and used some of my own. This is the 1st time I've uploaded a 4K video. Let me know if you have any problems with it. My laptop stumbled a bit near the beginning but OK after that. Thanks for watching/commenting. -Bjorn

  38. This suggestion is a simple fix and excuse me if you have already tried it. See if the automation envelopes are still there. If not, go back to your last saved version before the problem and copy just the envelopes you are missing (set Now to 1:01.01, select/highlight the whole track or bus then "Copy Special" from the Edit Menu, selecting only "Track/Bus automation" with the check boxes). Then "Paste Special" into the version you have the problem on, again using the check boxes to select only "Track/Bus automation". But when pasting, make sure you also select the correct track, "blend old and new" and "Paste into existing clips." Also make sure you paste at the beginning of the track/bus - 1:01.01. If the envelopes are still there but the track/bus is not responding to them, make sure to enable read automation - highlight the R.

  40. Wow , some Great comments and suggestions . Thanks to Everyone for your input. The link now reflects a remix per your suggestions. @DeeringAmps @garybrun The vocals have been boosted by1.5 db. I think they're standing out a lot better. @PhonoBrainer I did some additional automation (mainly on the lead guitar) getting it away from the vocals a little more. Carving a hole for the vocals has been a job on this one. @David Sprouse There is an additional kick on the 1 beat that got turned up a little before the last mix. I re EQd it and lowered it. I don't think it's conflicting now. I "try" to be conservative on remixes , please let me know if I over or underdid it. All further suggestions are welcomed. Get as picky as you want. Thank You .. mark

  43. I whipped up a little Articulation Map Editor that should solve your Transpose problem 🙂 It's a hidden page (not available from the main page) because I'm lazy. Get it here. Excerpt from website... The only functionality included in this version is Transposing Note events. This covers Articulation Maps that control key-switches. Select the Articulation Map you want to modify in the Articulation Maps panel. All Groups contained in the map will be displayed in the Groups panel. Click to select one or more Groups to modify. You can use standard Windows controls (i.e. Hold Ctrl to select/deselect multiple items and hold Shift to select a range). Set the amount to transpose each note/key using the numeric control on the right. The range is +/-48, which is 4 octaves up or down. Click modify to start the process. The first time an Articulation Map is modified, the program will save a copy with the added extension “.orig” in the same folder, just in case. A message box will pop up to confirm the operation. If the selected transposition causes any note range to go out of bounds ( less than ‘0’ or more than ‘127’), the program will notify you of the specific articulations that would fail and abort the entire modification operation without changing the file. If this occurs, you may need to modify the articulations individually in Cakewalk.

  45. My Geosonics 2 upgrade was $49 which I think matches the intro price. Codes don't change price. I've only play with it briefly - been a real crappy year for my creative output... I really haven't spent enough time with it to do it justice but my initial impression is... It has very nice nontraditional evolving pads / textures as well as a number of interesting nonpitched strange ambiences that could add some flavor or sparkle to a project. If you're looking for something different or do soundtracks for film you'll probably really like it. If you're looking for a bread & butter & butter library (bass, keys, pads, etc.) probably should look elsewhere. While there are number of other libraries that mine from this similar territory this collection feels well curated. YMMV but I like it and I can definitely see using it in a couple of my projects in the future.

  46. Nice! Beat me to it, @Starship Krupa I volunteer to create Mercury RS. (Although, Blue Ice is pretty damn close... I'll start there) Then we can compare and cross-pollinate. Ideally we can agree and incorporate suggestions from the community without experiencing multiple schismatic sects. "EVA01 IS THE ONE TRUE THEME, ACCEPT NO OTHERS"
