Outside of Larry's tireless work, the good fellowship and amazing camaraderie of like minded plug in buyers, and the amazing wealth of knowledge and experience here........I always love seeing Abacab posting, as it reminds me of that amazing song.... (Neither full Kontakt or ILok required)19 points

That's a fact! We're not a forum...we're family! That become obvious with Terry (Musical)...may he continue to rest in peace! I came here at Sonar X1 and never left because of people like Bitflipper, Bapu, Fleer, and Bass Daddy, and Mesh... and a bunch of others... The mutual support, and the fellowship, along with a plethora of deals is what makes this my home!13 points

Yes Lars, we are a family. And I am really looking forward to Festivus this year. Especially the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people!7 points

Well said @husker In January this year, after a very heavy bout of GAS over last year's BF/Christmas, I decided to try not looking at the Deals Forum for a while to see if my GAS situation improved. So what did I learn?... 1. Main thing is, as Husker, Larry and others said; I missed the camaraderie, humour, goodwill and experience of all the good folk who post here. That includes Larry, abacab, Fleer, Mesh, LavaJawa, Simon, Marc, Matt, Scook, Mark, Husker and a whole bunch of others. Seriously, this is a unique forum and long may it continue! 2. I still kept receiving emails from brands where I had previously subscribed or bought from so there was still way too much temptation, just none of the enjoyable banter that went with it. 3. My GAS situation maybe slightly improved but that was probably due to already owning so much stuff. Overall, I think it's probably time to admit defeat and come back home (and just in time for the Sonokinetic 12 days ) Now I've got some catching up to do !5 points

...and ZincT and Zo and Scook and Your 'Ol Pal and...well the list goes on. Some we haven't heard from in a while, too, and others I hope are OK. Its been humbling to hear what it takes for some of us to procure the objects of our desires (keep it clean - I'm talking plug ins!!!) and the occasional advice to "use what you've got!" I'm also happy to know I'm not the only one that ignores that advice once in a while! Well said, Hukser...5 points

OH, HELL NO! Nope! No way! You are not bringing Latin terms for wiener problems in here! Not today. You take that upstairs to the Production Techniques forum, where it belongs.3 points

I'm at the opinion of those who can't rearrange their life to score the giveaways is they get like a real heavy discount like at least 75% on the missed giveaway. It seems like a win for both sides. I guess the only drawback is running out of serials. The reality is some have gotten free stuff more than they bought. I'm not saying this in jealousy as I happen to be one of those who have gotten free products more than I bought from some developers.3 points

I’m a long timer. My miles have varied. So many posts and good fun. I have to say I’ve never laughed so much as when years ago Kenny posted a German war scene depicting Larry when Larry had gone on one of his breaks. Kenny subtitled in with many of our forum members the dialog between the German generals. It was hysterical! I wish it was findable to repost.3 points

Cakewalk, to me, is the best DAW, aesthetically, on the market! And the Skylight interface, again, to me, is the way a DAW should work. I came from Cubase to Sonar X1, and ever since then, Cakewalk, has been my main DAW. It just seems "logical" to me...and I have Pro Tools, Samplitude, Reaper, Mixbus 32C, Mixbus, Mixcraft Pro, Acid Pro, Sound Forge Pro...blah blah blah. They all do basically "the same thing"...it's just "how they get there" that's different. To me, Cakewalk just "makes sense" but YMMV3 points

It's the LATTER, not the former...most "educated" people coming out of college are "indoctrinated" rather than "educated". Common sense ALONE tells you that it's an imperative, as a business owner, to keep your current clients content, but sadly, these 25 year olds with "degrees" believe that they KNOW IT ALL because they now have a degree! Some of the ABSOLUTE DUMBEST people on the planet "have degrees"! An education, without COMMON SENSE, is like a toilet without water...at first it looks great, but after a short time the crap starts to pile up...and it's a MESS, and it STINKS! Better stated "Knowledge and Wisdom are two entirely separate entities"!3 points

I’m quite fond of Portal but I find FabFilter’s Saturn 2 kicks Thermal’s *****. Thermal seems good on drums, but I’m not into distorted percussion.3 points

Strange, the sale doesn't end for another few hours. And they didn't mention it was included in the sale when they sent over materials for it. Who knows what's happening, I think we are all still recovering from Black Friday ?2 points

Yes great people here. I started with this back when it was a "newsgroup". The helpful and knowledgeable peole here was the biggest factor in my going with Cakewalk, and staying with it. I have Studio One from the beginning, Reaper from the beginning. And tried those forums. But none were even close to this one. Best forum on the web.2 points

I thought about this since it was $199 for me to upgrade. That's a pretty good price for Spectral Layers Pro alone. But I decided the this was not the reason I'm not making music.2 points

I got in on this one and very glad I did. Thanks to Lars and his work getting the special Cakewalk Forum discount. How cool is that? And thanks to Simeon for the very helpful video. And thanks to Fleer for being the eye candy of the Forum.2 points

CUBE is a LOT better than any of the Output synths I own. I bought the set in 2016 and got Rev, Signal, Exhale and Substance, Output is in the dark ages compared to this. Output is still making locked instruments where you can only combine two sounds. Fancy-shmantsy graphics, but that's all they are. You can't put in samples and Output never adds new samples. Will they make an Exhale 2 someday with new sounds? I think they've moved on to subscriptions. CUBE allows you to use sophisticated tech to modulate between 8 sounds. You can do it yourself with an xy pad or knobs and or use their "orbits" to move between the 8 sounds any way you want. Output used to sell sets of presets called Expansions for $35. I don't see them for sale on the site any more. I only see them with the total bundle. Lunacy Audio GIVES you sets of presets. They've done three already and will bring out more regularly. So far they have brought out only one new expansion that they sell. It's called AIR. But unlike Output it has new samples. This will continue. So CUBE is just going to get better and better in terms of content. Plus it's new and I think they are going to keep improving it. At T+S I bought CUBE and AIR in a bundle for $115. with the subscriber discount it was about $105. I told Simeon how much I loved it and he did a great video. The big problem with CUBE is it is way too expensive. But not today. But if you can't buy today, watch the videos when you can, and consider it for when the next sale comes around. It's so weird. I finally updated Arturia this year. And I west from Total Studio 2 to 3.5. But all I do is play with this and some new pianos I got. This is the kind of thing that John Lehmkuhl could go to town on because, like Omnisphere, he can bring in any sound he wants.2 points
