  1. Outside of Larry's tireless work, the good fellowship and amazing camaraderie of like minded plug in buyers, and the amazing wealth of knowledge and experience here........I always love seeing Abacab posting, as it reminds me of that amazing song.... (Neither full Kontakt or ILok required)

  2. That's a fact! We're not a forum...we're family! That become obvious with Terry (Musical)...may he continue to rest in peace! I came here at Sonar X1 and never left because of people like Bitflipper, Bapu, Fleer, and Bass Daddy, and Mesh... and a bunch of others... The mutual support, and the fellowship, along with a plethora of deals is what makes this my home!

  3. Yes Lars, we are a family. And I am really looking forward to Festivus this year. Especially the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people!

  4. It's why this is my primary music forum. Also, is it any surprise that the Larry posts that would be most relevant to me at this moment are the ones for hard drives??? If anyone spends enough time in this part of the forum it will happen to them eventually.

  7. Well said @husker In January this year, after a very heavy bout of GAS over last year's BF/Christmas, I decided to try not looking at the Deals Forum for a while to see if my GAS situation improved. So what did I learn?... 1. Main thing is, as Husker, Larry and others said; I missed the camaraderie, humour, goodwill and experience of all the good folk who post here. That includes Larry, abacab, Fleer, Mesh, LavaJawa, Simon, Marc, Matt, Scook, Mark, Husker and a whole bunch of others. Seriously, this is a unique forum and long may it continue! 2. I still kept receiving emails from brands where I had previously subscribed or bought from so there was still way too much temptation, just none of the enjoyable banter that went with it. 3. My GAS situation maybe slightly improved but that was probably due to already owning so much stuff. Overall, I think it's probably time to admit defeat and come back home (and just in time for the Sonokinetic 12 days ) Now I've got some catching up to do !

  8. ...and ZincT and Zo and Scook and Your 'Ol Pal and...well the list goes on. Some we haven't heard from in a while, too, and others I hope are OK. Its been humbling to hear what it takes for some of us to procure the objects of our desires (keep it clean - I'm talking plug ins!!!) and the occasional advice to "use what you've got!" I'm also happy to know I'm not the only one that ignores that advice once in a while! Well said, Hukser...

  16. We're pleased to announce Early Access for 2021.12! This release introduces support for nested track folders, localization updates, various enhancements and optimizations, and over 50 bug fixes. We'd love for you to check it out before we drop the official public version. Please test Region FX clips with Melodyne, elastique time stretching and verify that VST3 plug-in operations work normally. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2021.12 Early Access build, you must be on the latest public release of 2021.11. Download Cakewalk 2021.12 EA installer Should you need to revert to the 2021.11 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2021.11 Rollback installer. If you haven't already done so, please read about the Early Access Program before participating. Please keep responses specific to problems or comments on this release. Unrelated bugs or feature requests should be posted in other threads or the feature request channel. Thanks again for your participation! The Bakers Support for nested track folders To improve track organization, Cakewalk now supports nested track folders. A nested folder is a subfolder that is contained within another parent folder. Nested subfolders allow you to organize tracks more logically. For example, you can have a "Guitar" parent folder that contains "Electric" and "Acoustic" subfolders. To only move tracks into another folder, drag one of the tracks or select Move To... from the context menu of one of the tracks. To move the entire folder, drag the folder itself onto another folder, or select Move To... from the context menu of the folder. If a track is in a folder, selecting Move To Folder >New Track Folder will create a new sub-folder at the same level of that track. Note: As with the top level folders, any empty folders (i.e. specifically, folders containing no tracks) will ALWAYS appear below those containing tracks. Tip: When changing the color of a track folder, hold down the CTRL key to apply the same color to all child tracks within the folder. New behavior when dragging tracks/folders Dragging a track to the left side moves it out of the folder. Dragging to the right side moves it to the bottom of the existing folder at the target location (i.e. same level as the track above). Tip: While dragging, look at the left edge of the drop indicator - it will be exactly at the folder depth the track will be placed at. Expand/collapse track folder modifiers SHIFT+click on folder +/- to expand/collapse entire folder hierarchy of the folder you clicked on. CTRL+SHIFT+click on folder +/- to expand/collapse all folders in project. This is convenient if you want to quickly expand the hierarchy to search for a track, but then want to collapse it all. Localization update The French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Russian versions of Cakewalk have been updated. German and Portuguese will be updated before the public release. Note: There are several known localization layout/formatting issues (truncated text, etc.) that will be addressed before public release) Issues resolved in Cakewalk 2021.12 EA (build 27.12.0.093) Stability: Crash loading export task settings Crash if wildcard left in place when adding path Hang on project load with user project Fix for JBridge crash when flushing plug-ins Guard against crash/hang with sample counts going negative Export: Export task fails with no meaningful message if drive or path is invalid Export fails to render Radius stretched clips unless a time range is explicitly selected Export as MIDI File should not show audio track warning message Filename incorrect when recalling task with period in filename Regression: Audio export path not immediately updated on project save Export Audio dialog: Add keyboard navigation support Using space bar to update multiple selection items doesn't update range dropdown Selection flyout not updating Time Range dropdown Mouse wheel scrolling skips rows in 'Tracks/Buses in Project' list Inconsistent selection recall on Export Task recall Expand width of Export Multiple Files Task queue panel should limit its height to queue size + 1 UI: Preferences Categories illegible in High Contrast mode in Windows Expose Arranger, Export Audio dialog, and Tempo track to Help Module Folder colors / original folder ordering not restored on Undo Delete Folder Destination folder should expand when moving tracks Click on Folder comp clip not selecting all tracks Folders missing "Move to Track Folder" in Context Menu when single folder present CTRL + click folder color bar should change color for all folder contents Track range selection does not work as expected with folders Lasso select within Clips View selects all articulations Fixed accessibility/screen reader support in several menus (eg. plug-in menus) Add Subfolders count to top folder stats - added read-only stats for immediate sub-folder count Unable to edit tempo change time in Tempo Inspector Track Manager fails to open from Console view if project contains folders with nothing but empty sub-folders Archive button not showing tri state on folders Note: If you use a custom user theme, you must update the Archive button in Theme Editor (found under Tack View > Track Pane > Archive). 21. I'm at the opinion of those who can't rearrange their life to score the giveaways is they get like a real heavy discount like at least 75% on the missed giveaway. It seems like a win for both sides. I guess the only drawback is running out of serials. The reality is some have gotten free stuff more than they bought. I'm not saying this in jealousy as I happen to be one of those who have gotten free products more than I bought from some developers.

  22. I’m a long timer. My miles have varied. So many posts and good fun. I have to say I’ve never laughed so much as when years ago Kenny posted a German war scene depicting Larry when Larry had gone on one of his breaks. Kenny subtitled in with many of our forum members the dialog between the German generals. It was hysterical! I wish it was findable to repost.

  25. Cakewalk, to me, is the best DAW, aesthetically, on the market! And the Skylight interface, again, to me, is the way a DAW should work. I came from Cubase to Sonar X1, and ever since then, Cakewalk, has been my main DAW. It just seems "logical" to me...and I have Pro Tools, Samplitude, Reaper, Mixbus 32C, Mixbus, Mixcraft Pro, Acid Pro, Sound Forge Pro...blah blah blah. They all do basically "the same thing"...it's just "how they get there" that's different. To me, Cakewalk just "makes sense" but YMMV

  26. It's the LATTER, not the former...most "educated" people coming out of college are "indoctrinated" rather than "educated". Common sense ALONE tells you that it's an imperative, as a business owner, to keep your current clients content, but sadly, these 25 year olds with "degrees" believe that they KNOW IT ALL because they now have a degree! Some of the ABSOLUTE DUMBEST people on the planet "have degrees"! An education, without COMMON SENSE, is like a toilet without water...at first it looks great, but after a short time the crap starts to pile up...and it's a MESS, and it STINKS! Better stated "Knowledge and Wisdom are two entirely separate entities"!

  37. Don't overlook the Chord Track feature that was added to Studio One Pro 4.0. Chord recognition is a given with MIDI data, because the notes are already known. But for audio material with an unknown chord structure, you can drag the audio track onto the chord track for auto chord recognition. This video is 2 years old, but covers the basic concepts of their chord track. This software has been updated to S1 version 5.4.1 since then.

  38. I have been a user of Cakewalk for decades, and have been very pleased with the Bandlab support of this application which in the Gibson shutdown set me into a bit of depression - my tool of years was feeling dead to me. I came across the idea of a Chord Track from a YouTube Video yesterday. The antics of the guy are excusable - he does provide good info. He used Cubase - which the posts here have shown was first. It really sounded useful from the idea of improvising in the DAW software and making a visible outline of the harmony to use going forward - or reminding you on reopening what it was doing. I went searching to see if we had this and found this thread - yes I would love to see this added. I also read in the thread that there is not any Music XML support - another thing that I would like to have included. The only XML import in the manual shows up ACT files only. I have been looking at the scoring software area and the ability to export and import Music XML is standard. Musescore software is working on allowing plugins of VST for their next version - version 4. That software is open source - which to me would mean that contributions to that code base might make it interchangeable with Cakewalk. It might be challenging - however the interchange of that Music XML might be one way of getting it started. I want to stay in the Cakewalk space - but without these contributions - it does make Cubase seem like a strong contender in pulling me into a new tool.

  39. Yes great people here. I started with this back when it was a "newsgroup". The helpful and knowledgeable peole here was the biggest factor in my going with Cakewalk, and staying with it. I have Studio One from the beginning, Reaper from the beginning. And tried those forums. But none were even close to this one. Best forum on the web.

  43. CUBE is a LOT better than any of the Output synths I own. I bought the set in 2016 and got Rev, Signal, Exhale and Substance, Output is in the dark ages compared to this. Output is still making locked instruments where you can only combine two sounds. Fancy-shmantsy graphics, but that's all they are. You can't put in samples and Output never adds new samples. Will they make an Exhale 2 someday with new sounds? I think they've moved on to subscriptions. CUBE allows you to use sophisticated tech to modulate between 8 sounds. You can do it yourself with an xy pad or knobs and or use their "orbits" to move between the 8 sounds any way you want. Output used to sell sets of presets called Expansions for $35. I don't see them for sale on the site any more. I only see them with the total bundle. Lunacy Audio GIVES you sets of presets. They've done three already and will bring out more regularly. So far they have brought out only one new expansion that they sell. It's called AIR. But unlike Output it has new samples. This will continue. So CUBE is just going to get better and better in terms of content. Plus it's new and I think they are going to keep improving it. At T+S I bought CUBE and AIR in a bundle for $115. with the subscriber discount it was about $105. I told Simeon how much I loved it and he did a great video. The big problem with CUBE is it is way too expensive. But not today. But if you can't buy today, watch the videos when you can, and consider it for when the next sale comes around. It's so weird. I finally updated Arturia this year. And I west from Total Studio 2 to 3.5. But all I do is play with this and some new pianos I got. This is the kind of thing that John Lehmkuhl could go to town on because, like Omnisphere, he can bring in any sound he wants.
