  1. These video tutorials were invaluable for me - very long, but very detailed: Jamstix Tutorial 1 of 4 - Easy Way to Create Drum Tracks: https://youtu.be/o96TLgRjAq8 Jamstix Tutorial 2 of 4 - Covering All The Basic Operations: https://youtu.be/CzXMingzgBw Jamstix Tutorial 3 of 4 - Drum Module Mode, Song Sheet, & The Brain: https://youtu.be/gLpmv6XwsVk Jamstix Tutorial 4 of 4 - Options, The Bar Editor, & Final Thoughts: https://youtu.be/dVW9H20F94Y The tutorials cover Jamstix 3, but are equally applicable to Jamstix 4. The most useful for me was the third video, which gives an explanation as to how the Jamstix brain works. This is what you need to know if you want to push Jamstix in a particular stylistic direction, or want it to play something based on existing MIDI tracks.

  3. Anyone posts a picture of their full "moon"....I kill you! So, now that the dust is settling...tell us about the wonderful goodies you bought, and the duds also, should you be so inclined! BBC Core...which I have been after since BBC Discover (don't let the size of Discover fool you...it's a lovely freebie!) I honestly didn't think I'd ever be able to get it...and that's only thanx to the annual "Coffee Clatch"! Melodyne Editor also "appeared"...and Softube Amp Room! So again, my deepest, and humblest, gratitude to you all for making this old geezer's Black Friday a little brighter!!! Oh yeah...and ACTUAL COFFEE! I LOVE COFFEE!!!

  4. Congratulations to the winners of the Westwood Instruments LOST PIANO, and Audio Brewers AXE giveaways. CUBE from Lunacy Audio was an incredible find, thanks to my dear friend @Reid Rosefelt for recommending it. SOLO from Audio Imperia is a gorgeous title with very expressive solo instruments perfect for layering. I did manage to create some havoc with UNIFY and Westwood Instruments Untamed series. Thanks to everyone who participated and for the developers kind generosity and support in allowing me to experience these instruments with you.

  8. Well I took a deep breath and installed Syntronik 2 CS today. Good news, it found all of my Syntronik 1 presets, and everything was authorized! đź‘Ť Bad news, is that it installed the new 3GB sound library on my boot drive in a folder in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\Syntronik 2". Had to move it manually to my content drive, and set the new path in Syntronik 2 options. Simple fix. Good news! The presets and samples load very quickly now, compared to Syntronik 1. Even the Syntronik 1 instruments. Whooo-Hooo! đź‘Ť Bad news, I had to adjust the new Syntronik 2 content path in SampleTank 4, and remove the reference to "C:\Users\Public\Documents\IK Multimedia\Syntronik 2". Simple fix. Good news, all is working very well now, and with no issues!

  10. I was good and my only spend was to upgrade my Kilohearts toolbox to Ultimate for sub-$100.00. It would have been more, but I bought enough new LP's to keep the industry afloat for a long time. Good lord.

  11. Check out Reid’s excellent video for some details comparing ezbass and Ujam. Modo bass would be all manual of course but you could reuse the midi and play it using Modo bass.

  12. That is a good deal. The Dream Machine is real nice. One of my EZ Keys favs. It's lots of fun with EZ Drummer Dream Pop EZX. That is my fav EZX. There is more than drums in that one. GForce Virtual String Machine is way cooler and only about $8-$10 more right now. Really right now. For the rest of today.

  15. Finale upgrade - rarely use notation software and will be my last version Wave platinum upgrade - Ok it was $40. It gives you another opportunity to see which of your DAWs are the slowest at plugin scanning. Fanatical Producer Loop bundle - Forgot the point of my 3 days of clearing out loops was to reduce disk space. A dog returns to its vomit. I'm always a sucker for these type of deals. Cheap and plentiful next failure is when ADSR will continue their lottsa loops for less.

  29. Have to agree!!! As the dust has settled a bit, I am finding that Syntronik 2 CS is a very nice upgrade to Syntronik 1 (I have Deluxe). Too bad they had such a rough time with the initial release! If you want to see the new presets that are available, open up SampleTank 4 and just list the Syntronik 2 CS presets. There are quite a few provided for CS, most for the new instruments, but they included some for the Syntronik 1 instruments. All of them are capable of opening up in the editor in either the Syntronik 2 or the SampleTank UI. For example if you have Syntronik V-80 from v1, take a look at the new preset 'Roppongi Nights Drone'. It's Syntronik 2 compatible. For an even bigger sound switch it from Legato to Poly mode! It's great as a solo lead with glide, but as a big poly fat pad! Wowza!

  34. All good. I'm an idiot. It was actually telling me how much free space I had, not how big the library was. Haha. Apparently I can't read.

  35. Let me try and be clearer. I already have Syntronik. No plans at the moment to get Syntronik 2. I installed Syntronik 2 CS because it's a freebie and wanted to try it and see what it's about. I was worried that my Syntronik stuff wouldn't work anymore. (Until I re-read Larry's post) So now that I installed Syntronik 2 CS, I started it up and to me it appears to look just like Syntronik, with the ST4 UI. IOW, nothing really new to me. If there is, I ain't seeing it. Syntronik 2 CS installed it's sample lib on my C drive. I don't want that for future installations. Right now it's only 3 -4 gb. But I want to try and move that before it installs anymore libs there. : )

  36. This song "Chivalry Is Not Dead" is already edited to the Spartacus movie series (the recent one). I have agreed with you all about the guitar being too aggressive and harsh but considering, it is edited to men battling it out to the death.... A softer solo may not have carried the content as well. The main guitar solo is playing while Spartacus lay dead on the ground... I probably could have picked a better distortion preset... But it is done for now. Perhaps if i had used my hollow body with the P90 pickups instead of the Strat. The preset I picked does have a really nice sustain but it is the tone that is off. I may revisit it in the not so distant future. 100,000 views in 5 days on YouTube... Not bad...

  37. Loved the way you mixed vox left and right with the harmony. Mix has a lot of space. Nice warm earthy feel to the mix in general. This is a good example of something that need not be overdone to be good. You kept it simple and it worked very well for this. I would call it smooth country.

  38. I probably already have all the plugins I will ever need ... said plenty of people before going crazy on BF sales. I'm also pretty darn sure I have all the delays, compressors, and eq's I will ever need.

  39. I just tried it and agree with your analysis! It's only 5 atmosphere patches, but they sound pretty nice. But no, definitely not a "new frontier." It kind of reminds me of Shimmer, a library I picked up earlier this year for Steinberg's HALion SE that is similar and very nice.

  41. I haven't seen prices on the Ujam Virtual Basses below the $64 price point before. I think that is what I paid for Royal, and I probably even paid the intro price of $89 for Dandy in 2020. Hard to predict what Ujam will do in the future with pricing... Of the two basses, the Royal sounds more like a smooth fingered Fender roundwound session bass, with neck and bridge pickups, and amp or direct tones, while the Dandy is a flatwound bass, with amp and direct tones, neck and bridge pickups, and picked and thumbed sounds. They both have their uses. Since you like the Royal better, I assume that the fingered roundwound style works better for your music.

  43. The un-authorise/re-authorise in IK Product Manager worked for me. Apart from ST4 getting unauthorised it went reasonably smoothly, the huge download coming through while I had dinner. (I do have fast broadband but the server on the other end seemed pretty quick.) I think Syntronic 2 has gone a long way to addressing my reservations with version 1. Sound design is much improved with the ability swap waveforms in a patch and the whole edit page with its modulation matrix looks very powerful, but I have yet to dig into it. Preset load times seem to be faster than version one. A system with so many presets would really benefit with an NKS style audio preview in the browser. Freelance Soundlabs third party NKS addon for UVI's Synth Anthology is a real boon. All in all I was in two minds about upgrading but I am glad I did.
