  3. The Library is "OK"...the big issue is that it's Aria Sounds, and their support is virtually non-existent. But it's at this price ALL THE TIME...so really not a sale...

  5. 1. Open Settings from the Windows Start menu 2. Click "Update & Security" 3. Click "Windows Security" on the left 4. In the main window, click "Virus & threat protection" 5. Under the "Virus & threat protection settings" header, click "Manage settings" 6. Scroll down to "Exclusions" and click "Add or remove exclusions" 7. Click the "+ Add an exclusion" button, selecting folder for each of the following, and any other VST folders/sample directories: C:\Cakewalk Content C:\Cakewalk Projects C:\Program Files\Cakewalk C:\Users\[yourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk C:\Program Files\VstPlugins C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2 C:\Program Files (x86)\VstPlugins C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\vstplugins C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3 C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST2 If your global audio folder is different from C:\Cakewalk Content, add that too. You may also want to add any plugin specific directories within your Documents folder. WARNING - because you're disabling virus protection for VST plugins, you should manually scan any VST plugins / plugin installers before you install them. If you're using any cloud sync apps (e.g. OneDrive / Dropbox etc), you should either also exclude these directories, or at least make sure those apps are disabled when running Cakewalk.

  6. Yeah, Grem, don’t expect too much from Aria Sounds. I bought one of their piano libs, had to contact Aria Sounds support, but never got an answer.

  7. Pretty much agree here. I won’t pretend that I don’t care about politics
I do. And can’t say I’m anywhere close to Larry’s views
.I’m not. Larry does perform an outstanding job on this forum however, and I think many of us have had experiences with difficult bureaucracies , whether they be governmental or corporate in nature. I don’t even see that alone as being a right wing or left wing thing. As for the overtly political part of all this, we would certainly be best off just parking it at the door.

  8. I suppose anything can be made in any DAW, but something like Ableton has unique qualities that make it really useful for loop-oriented music. I love Ableton. On the other hand, orchestral composers rely on the articulation maps in Cubase. I suppose you could write a symphony in Ableton. Definitely you could do it, but it's not using what's really great about Ableton. And it would be much easier to do on other DAWs. There is a big part of the industry that is aimed at EZ. Toontrack and ujam and Studio One are going after that target. Needless complexity is not good, but sometimes there's no way around learning something. Because you can do more if you know more. This guy hits a bump in the road and heads hom.e There's a certain type of person who is best served by Reaper. Nothing else would be as satisfying for that person. And so on... We're all different. We all make different kinds of music in different ways. I think it's ridiculous to say that one tool is better than another. For who? At what time?

  14. I completely agree and relate to what you both wrote @User 905133 and @Starship Krupa. Historically, I never bothered to download demos and would buy based on good demo songs. But in the last year or so, I've started downloading and trying out demos before buying plugins (when they're available) and it's resulted in keeping me from purchasing plugins I likely would not have used had I purchased them. It's definitely a very good tip.

  15. My BF objective is to (try and) curb my purchases in 2022 to almost $0.00. Except for ToonTrack products where I typically buy kits on release (sometimes I get to use prepaid MIDI serials for EZD, EZK, and I still have 2 EZM serials as well. I even have one prepaid EZKeys expansion serial. As of today I own the full ToonTrack line. I might buy the odd sample library if it's really unique.

  22. Most of the plugins/software I am interested in was not a good deal, i.e. the discount was less than at other occasions. There are also some developers that were spartan with their deals (e.g. PSP). But there were also a lot of plugins and loop libraries that don't have my interest. Last but not least I have to pay 25% tax in some shops (Europe!) that makes some deals also uninteresting. Also high prices in general reduced the budget available for Black Friday!

  32. For me it's very pedagogical for people to pappreciatte each units stregnth and caracter , and the interafce is just spot on , not too much just waht's needed most of the time , kinda like the AMS 16 rmx , limited control but why more in most cases !!

  33. Seems like slate stuff gets no more love nowdayz , while they still sounds superb , a little hype here and there when he releases new HW , but old plugins , people think new is better , but VTM , the buss comp ect .... are still what i consider to tiers! !!

  34. Gary I'd agree with these comments but I've listened to several iterations of this song now and they're all pretty outstanding. I mean, my point is that when you have something this good to work with, you can get away with a few imperfections in the mix. The difficulty in accepting that as critique, is that when something is this good - you really do want it to be perfect and I understand that view completely. I'd say you're close to done here and the AAMS mix just edged it for me. Andy

  37. You can't sell the software without a license, so if you decide to sell the software you must include your license and the updates you bought with it. You actually don't own the software, what you own is the license. It's like that for all software not just music.

  38. This is my favorite anti-hoarding tactic. For instance: I said earlier in this thread that I was going to buy Chromaphone, but I'm messing with the demo and several of the preset patches (which are my primary motivation, it's like getting 10 soundpacks for $89) are unusable on my laptop. True, it comes with over 1000 patches and very few of them cause trouble, but I don't like buying things that stretch the limits of my systems that far. It pushes me into the idea that I need to upgrade my computers, etc. I may try String Studio and see what's up with it. The attacks on many of the Chromaphone presets have hard attacks, which of course shows off the technology, but I'm trying to do ambient ear candy, and have less use for sounds that poke out like that. So due to the demo, I went from drooling 100% sure on Chromaphone to....well, I dunno, maybe, but let's check out the other one.

  39. I recently downloaded a full orchestral track template for Spitfire BBCSO Discover and Core, that were customized for various DAWs. There are stacks for each section and articulation, sends for FX, very detailed. A good tutorial for mixing an orchestra! The Spitfire team started out by providing templates for Logic Pro X, then GarageBand, Ableton Live, Protools, and Cubase. But users have adapted the originals to a few more DAWs. https://www.spitfireaudiothepage.com/templates I compared the versions that I loaded into Ableton and Studio One. There is no way I would dive into that with Ableton using so many tracks and sends, etc., LOL! 😂 BBCSO Discover Templates: https://www.spitfireaudiothepage.com/posts/discover-templates (even Reaper, Bitwig, and FL Studio) BBCSO Core Templates: https://www.spitfireaudiothepage.com/posts/core-templates BBCSO Pro Templates: https://www.spitfireaudiothepage.com/posts/pro-templates

  40. I agree 100%. I just don't like to see a double standard enforced where a noobie can close down a thread with a single Obamaha joke, while another thread with multiple political postings gets a pass. And just to be clear, I do not want this thread shut down at all.

  44. Although in principle this sounds like a reasonable (and quite useful) request, it's problematic due to where in the signal flow the phase is actually shifted. The clip wave form shows clip properties only, which are the waveform itself plus any changes in clip pan automation, clip gain automation, and fade in/out. It's a view of the waveform before it goes through the clip effects bin, or any of the track effects. The phase is set at a track level, which is way further on in the signal chain. Apart from the clips not being directly aware of the track's phase, it's also not aware of any processing being done in the meantime by plugins (which could also be flipping the phase). So the issue is, that while it might be useful for a very simple track, in practice it might be confusing for users by giving them a false representation of the waveform. As it stands it's unambiguous - it's a view of the waveform before it goes through the clip effects bin, or any of the track effects.
