  1. A week or two ago I put down the prices on some SSDs and NVMes on my VI:Control list. Every day I update the prices. If it only changes by a dollar or two, I just adjust it. But if it changes by a reasonable amount, I cross out the old price and show the new one. For example, the Samsung 2TB 870 EVO started out at $279.99, then it was $259.99, and as of this moment it is $238.48. I say "as of this moment" because I've learned that these prices are very volatile. You can go back an hour later and the price goes back up again. Another thing that happens is that Amazon goes out of stock of a certain drive for a day or two. You can find my list here https://vi-control.net/community/threads/tiger-the-frogs-categorized-alphabetized-list-of-november-2021-sales.116454/post-4952242 Full disclosure: these are affiliate links. If you spend $100, I get $2.50. So if you're uncomfortable with that, just go to Amazon without the link. But I think these prices will help you evaluate what the good deals are, particularly when we get to Cyber Monday.

  4. Just remember to be careful about specs on these things. How fast are they supposed to be? For example, with NVme drives, some are PCIe (which are fast) and others are SATA, which can't be faster than a regular SSD drive. The speed of a drive is contingent on the speed of the connection. Probably you know this, but I think it's worth mentioning.

  5. The greater question is: Why are you using Sonar 7? Cakewalk by Bandlab is free and great. Install it. Your old 7 will still work, so you have nothing to loose.

  6. I'd bet anyone who paid $500 for a software EQ will swear by it to avoid looking like a fool.

  7. I only have a few of them - String, Woodswinds, Guitarscapes, and one other. I, uh, "use them" by wasting hours of my life by making interesting sounds.

  8. When a track is in a Folder the " Move To Folder Option " is removed from the right click contextual menu and replaced with " Remove From Folder " IMHO It would make more sense if the " Move To Folder" option also remained so track can be easily shunted from one folder to another without an intermediary step. ( appreciate you can drag an drop but in larger projects the right click is easier than a lot of scrolling )

  11. And the "How its work" demo video in the Evolution:Dragon page is done with Sonar Platinum...

  12. Like the OP I personally found Sonar a little confusing at first and some things were "unintuitive" for the beginner. But unlike the OP I have never found any other DAW to be as straight forward as this one.

  14. Their other products are equally overpriced and their awful handling of unflattering reviews is even worse. I used to work in advertising, so I have no issue with the hyperbole used in ads. I do take issue with companies that attempt to copyright strike anyone who calls them on it.

  15. I like my Libraries to show up on the "Libraries" Tab of Kontakt... so it's good that they are finally moving in that direction

  20. Could use MFX Transpose instead of dealing with the Transpose dialog spinner control. The plug-in works either non-destructively in FX bins or destructively using the clip context menu. Or directly enter values in the Transpose dialog

  23. @InstrEd I had a Keylab Essential 49 which started triggering note events randomly on one of its keys. I returned it to the shop where I bought it (Gear4Music) and they sent it back to Arturia. I then received it back from Arturia supposedly "fixed" but the problem was still there. That made me lose confidence in Arturia because if they can't fix their own keyboard then who can? Also, it smacks of a lack of quality control i.e. checking that the fault had actually been fixed before returning it to a customer? So I got Gear4music to replace it with an M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 which has been fine and I actually prefer the keybed to the Arturia (it also has aftertouch if that makes any difference).

  26. There are some things that are available on Zero-G that aren't on T+S. The only one I can think of are libraries from Silence+Other Sounds (which are niche, but sound very nice); you can buy those directly on the Silence+Other Sounds website though.

  32. As time wears on here in Cakeland the developers seem to be listening and fixing lots of stuff requested along the way. Just now while exploring options in the Browser for next tutorial I discovered a few new things I thought worth sharing The notes tab in Browser: First I added a picture and sure enough after saving it now shows in the start screen cool. Didn’t know that. In the past I new about entering a Song name here but never tested the rest. If you export using the simple ( original) dialogue the name you put in notes will be what the wave file is named. But not any of the other info. The new advanced dialogue uses the project name by default. I then went to export as an MP3 and was surprised by a new dialogue that allows you to change the bit rate and stuff. Also you can check a box and the info you included in notes will be embedded in the file. So we now have a very advanced MP3 export dialogue Good stuff Cakewalk team.

  41. You grouped all the clips from every take together. You don't group all the clips in all the takes. You must group take 1 from track 1 with take 1 from track 2, 3 .... etc. Then do the same for take 2. Then when you comp and select take 1 from track 1, take 1 from all the tracks will be selected. If you record the takes with the Group All Clips then this will already be done for you. Otherwise, you will have to set it up manually

  42. Don't bother with the cheaper Arturia Keylab Essential. No aftertouch there, so that was a deal breaker for me on a controller. Also @ZincThad a bad experience with one of those models. He ended up exchanging it for a different brand after exhausting repair options. I'm sure they are probably not all lemons, but his sure was. I went for the Keylab 61 MkII earlier this year. Had to back order the 61 Mk11 for 2 months, as it was out of stock everywhere. But seriously, the build quality in the Mk11 is outstanding. Metal chassis, and the same keybed used on one of their MatrixBrute hardware synths. This thing is heavy! Reminiscent of my old Korg, Roland, and Alesis romplers. I have a few other cheap plastic controller keyboards that I feel no particular love for, so I wanted to splurge on something solid! Highly recommended! And the dedicated integration with Analog Lab is a bonus.

  43. This reminds me of the great classic songwriters, Paul Anka or burt Bacharach or Paul Williams;really monumental. A ll the images and story are presented clearly. The melody is catchy. Only problem is I couldn't get the image of Hannibal lechter out of my head. (Jk) this is one that will last. Great job.
