  3. I got it on sale several months ago ($99 I think) It's easy-peasy to use: you set all your faders to "0", then load AIYAC on every track of your session, go to the preset menu and choose what instrument is on that track, click the "learn all channels" button, play your song all the way through, hit "mix" and you're done. So how good a job does it do? I'd say about 30% of the time it gets you 90% of the way to a really good mix, 30% of the time it gives you decent results that will need some work, and 30% of the time it's not even close. I play mostly country/blues/rock/pop type of material so I can't weigh-in on how it does with rap, electronic or ambient styles. I know a good mix when I hear one, but I pretty much suck at mixing, and I find that as often as not after I use AIYAC I'm in the ballpark which made it a good purchase for me. If you're fairly good at mixing I don't know that you'd need it unless you want to get a quick mix on the fly. On the other hand, if you are a beginner or if, like me, you know how a mix should sound, but can't quite get there it can be a very helpful tool. If I lost it, I would definitely buy it again.

  6. Color Toolbar v2.7.2 Released! Download: https://s1scripts.wixsite.com/colortoolbar/download Be sure to download the latest Color Toolbar v2 release with support for Studio One 5.4 and previous versions of Studio One 4 & 5! Also check out the new Color Toolbar v2 video tutorial, User Manual, Block Diagram and all the new features in this release. New Features: All 60 Colors (Numbers Added in "Docked" Mode): "Docked" mode has been updated to include all 60 colors with numbers that match what's assigned in "Detached" mode. The 12 custom colors are located centrally around the [C], [E], [T] and buttons. Add/Edit/View Name/Keywords : Removed the need to click on [+] to display Name/Keywords. Clicking the slot name (or number) is all that's needed to add, edit or display the Name/Keywords. This change provides a quick way to check each of your Name/Keywords and also reduced the size (width) of the "Detached" panel. Slot Editor (Moving Name/Keywords): The Slot Editor now has a simplified cut and paste logic that requires less keystrokes and makes it easier to move Name/Keywords to another color slot. Color Toolbar Icon: A new icon was created to replace the previous colored icon so it now adheres to the no color, no shading design elements of the other icons included in Studio One. Fixes: Fixed an issue that prevented [Conform] from working after adding tracks to a song that already includes one or more existing special channel types with their options checked. Fixed blank track names not being conformed with "No Match" color. Fixed blank Arranger Section names not being conformed with "No Match" color. Enjoy!

  7. I got an email today for the keyboard that I ordered Oct 18th. It is dated Oct 26 and has an invoice number, but I can't match it up to the one from the 18th because that one has an order number. My keyboard arrived last Saturday so there's a chance I may end up with two. If so, I can mail one to @InstrEd 😉 Assuming I don't get charged for two keyboards... 😫

  8. I contacted EastWest Support and they quickly responded by letting me know that you can download and use instrument sections in the Opus player, but using the Ochestrator will require having everything on disk. More importantly (as far as MY interest), I learned that the $99 hard drive option is now an SSD rather than a spinner, so the library should be quite usable as provided. Order placed. Shipping was about $13 for FedEx Ground. Overnight would have been @ $30.

  10. I love the sound of a duduk so much that I actually bought one. Big mistake. I couldn't get much more than a squawk out of it. Next time I buy a world instrument I'll go online first and find out how easy they are to play.

  15. Latency? As in how far from the speakers? If so... The speed of sound is 343 meters per second. Latency = distance / speed of sound Guitar players can usually live with a few ms (2-5ms), so in round numbers; 1m ~ 3ms 2m ~ 6ms = something similar to performing on larger stages. Apparently there is a claim that humans can perceive 0.5ms https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28069695 Bass players...? ... Obsessive tone freaks (i.e. guitar players) might be more concerned with the capacitance of longer instrument cables. I've heard discussions favoring 2m or less.

  17. It is as clear as MUD. I wrote this deal off when they sent out a notice in September and it just didn't look to me like I qualified. After studying the big VI thread "HOOPUS", I found that they actually now accept owners of a single old Hollywood Gold library (like strings or brass) to have the upgrade price of $295. Adding to the confusion, when EW released Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition, there were two versions- Gold and Diamond; similar to the old Play based libraries. They have since dropped Opus Gold and now there is only "Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition". Not with the Diamond tag, but still the big one terabyte library. The two options I see (I assume everyone sees) on the EW site are to 1) Upgrade from discontinued H.O.Opus Gold to "Current big H.O.Opus" for $99, or upgrade from any Hollywood Orchestra Gold library for $295. Confusing? You-betcha! I will say that their support was very fast, so if you are thinking of getting the deal and want to get a confirmation, it should be easy to get a reply. Just an aside. Again based on digging back through the mega-thread, owners of "old" Hollywood Diamond Orchestra had to pay about $500 for HOOPUS less than a year ago. There are some sour grapes about the more recent adjustment$. Certainly a chance of further future discounts at this rate, but I decided to bite.

  35. Why a Duduk? Why not a chicken? Evolution had a contest on this freebie when they released it, so I entered. It was a nightmare to do, because I didn't know what the articulations were. I literally had to put masking tape on my keyboard to tell me what each key switch did. And then, while the contest was on, they added new features. Which was nice, but it meant I had to go back to the drawing board. Anyway this new version is a big advance. Essentially each keyswitch gives you three articulations that are clearly marked in the UI. You can change the articulations either by velocity or modwheel or the CC of your choice. Well worth getting, particularly if you have an NI keyboard. You can't beat the price. PS. I lost the contest, but the consolation prize was a discount on another product. So I bought their terrific Guzheng. So... in typical fashion, entering the contest led me to spend more money!
