  5. Some of us that use computers are allergic to guitars. I'm typing this being surrounded by 2 bass ( 3 if I count the tuba) and 2 guitars. It much more easier to shop and converse on forums instead of using a DAW or instruments.

  6. LennarDigital has released version 3.053 of the Sylenth1 synthesizer. >> this is wrong see next post << For this update LennarDigital has revisited the audio engine and managed to improve overall sound quality of the oscillators and filters, without losing their cutting edge. The code has also been optimized further, so that it's still as lean on the CPU as it was before. Optional oversampling for real-time playback and offline render modes have been added to the Settings file. A swing knob was added to the arpeggiator, a new skin by Scott Kane was included and several new presets were added, as well as many other improvements and bug fixes. This version is also fully compatible with Retina displays. What's new in this version: Improved oscillator sound quality (improved high frequency content, reduced aliasing). Improved filter response and sound quality. Further optimized CPU performance. Added oversampling options for real-time playback and render mode. Added Arpeggiator Swing knob. Added master tuning frequency adjustment. Improved pitch accuracy. Added Nitro skin by Scott Kane. Improved host automation for buttons and option controls. Fixes compatibility issue on Linux. Fixes high memory bug in 32-bit version. Fixes aupreset loading issue. Added MIDI learn autoswitch control option. Added 156 new presets to FactoryBank6. Fixes offline installation bug on Windows. Fixes problem with installation through script on Mac. Added parameter highlighting for AAX version. Added AAX page tables for Avid control surfaces. Now fully compatible with Retina displays. Added option to link AmpEnv A and B parameters. Added locking options for all parameters and parts. Download the new demo version here. This update is free for all customers and is fully compatible with any older version of Sylenth1.

  7. I don't see how disabling a meter could affect clipping. Meters just show what's going on and don't affect signal levels. The only difference between gain and volume is where the adjustment happens in the signal chain: gain's at the front, volume's at the end. Metering happens at the end of the chain, so yes, it'll reflect the actual peak levels regardless of at what stage they were raised. And yes, raising either gain or volume can cause clipping. If it does, you'll definitely want to know about it, not hide it by disabling track volume metering. I have a feeling the original question was just not worded well, and Marcello's friend just didn't explain clearly what he's doing in Reaper or why.

  9. Congratulations Noel and Cakewalk team. I’m astounded how many improvements continue to be made to this program. I guess I could always find something to complain about or beg for a specific change or feature but after having now passed 25 years of using Cakewalk/Pro/Sonar/CbB (along with other programs) I’m actually content to follow Cakewalk’s vision for the program’s development. Since the acquisition by Bandlab, I have to admit I haven’t been able to keep up with the rate of development of existing and addition of some of the new features. The program now far outstrips my ability to maintain what I once would have claimed as being a very high level of proficiency with its use. I guess I continue to make music (when health permits) the same as I’ve done for ages and while the improved stability and smoothness benefit my process, I’m a long way off using many of the new features. While that leaves me more to explore in Cakewalk itself, I really miss the days when I felt I was able to make meaningful contributions to the community here. Like chiming in to answer a query regarding a function or process. These days I’m lucky if I understand the question. Lol Anyways, after rambling on so much; congratulations again to Noel and the team for another stellar update.

  13. We have discovered that there is a serious bug in the latest Microsoft VCRedist installer. The Cakewalk installer includes this to install various files that are required by the application. The latest iteration of this file has a bug where if you run it for the first time it works. However if you run it a second time it removes several files from the system32 folder that are used by our application and many others. The most typical symptom would be that our installer fails to register CW130Auto.dll (error code 3) and after that the application will fail to launch. Fortunately we have not shipped a version of CbB that uses this VCRedist yet. However if you install the latest redistributables manually from the Microsoft website you will most likely run into this issue so please be aware of it. Here is a thread where several people have reported the issue. Please upvote the post if you have a Microsoft account so that they escalate the issue. If you have the problem you can typically fix it by running the vcredist manually a second time.

  15. @Simeon Amburgey how do you feel this library stacks up to more costly libraries? (I would ask on YouTube, but I spend more time here; FTR, I always give your videos a thumbs up after watching). Also, the surprise in this video was Bare Necessities" (or was that Colors? I watched both yesterday). Although I was hoping you'd play some Beatles classics!

  16. Yes I went thought this issue a while ago after I re built my system. I had installed everything using CCC and then noticed I was missing the old versions which looked different. I like those versions so had to sort it out and they were part of X3 for me.

  18. The names of the older series were slightly different. The older linear phase plug-ins were LP64 EQ and LP64 Multiband.. They were removed from the Engineering Suite FX installer when the new LP plug-ins were introduced. IIRC, the last version of the Engineering FX Suite with the old LP series was 1.0.0.13.

  19. There are two versions of the plug in, the first version use to come as a part of the plug in suite of SONAR that requires you to have that particular version of SONAR that was released in 2015 but it will not exist in later versions of SONAR as they took the LP EQ and LP MB plug ins and turned them into mastering quality commercially sold plug ins that you must have registered and obtained a license to use that is connected to the command center servers. To get the versions that are apart of some of the FX Preset Insert modules, you must install a pre 2016 version of SONAR.

  26. They made so many mistakes with Rapture Pro. There were a lot of bugs and naming it after Rapture was a huge mistake because they never could meet expectations. They should have named it Sound Center Pro, because that's more of what it is. Once you see it as that, and after they fixed the bugs, you realize that it's actually pretty good in that role.

  29. The plug-ins are not part of CbB, There were bundled with SONAR Platinum in separate installers. IIRC, the installers check for the presence of a valid SONAR Platnium install. Before installing CbB, I completely installed SONAR Platinum along with the two LP installers. The plug-ins load OK on my PC. The folders in Cakewalk Content do not contain the plug-in binaries. By default the VST2 format plug-ins are in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\LP EQ C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\LP MB and the VST3 format plug-ins are in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3" If you need to install Platinum again, make sure re-install CbB after Platinum.

  30. I’ve made a few tweaks to the port naming logic for the next update. When friendly names are used it will no longer show the generated prefixes and leave it upto the user to name them appropriately. The I/O channels are now only shown in the menu and not in the actual port name field to make the name even more compact. (it will be shown in the tooltip) The channel display in menus now separates the channel from the port name text from the driver more clearly by using columns You can choose to display the I/O channel information as a prefix or suffix to the port names showin in the menu. Hopefully these changes should make it even more useful. Regarding arbitrary ordering of ports, while its technically possible it would be quite complicated since we already have abstraction for ports because you can already choose to disable channels that are not in use. Adding reordering on top of that would make my head explode

  34. Until 'recent' times, no one ever even heard of "too many pianos." Look at it along these lines: life was better and cooler, richer, and had more soul and vibe when we didn't have smartphones. Unfortunately, I have great difficulty getting through life now without my smartphone. But before it came along, things were just fine.. better even. Like how I used to spend hours hanging out and browsing in record stores and now.. where is a record store?! Everything is downloaded now, quick and easy and immediate and all while on the go.. and with no soul or vibe. When I came up in the late 80's/early 90's in Seattle, even the guitar players in Soundgarden and Pearl Jam--even in the studio--didn't have a hundred different guitar amps at their disposal like dad does now, digitally. There's too much now, and while I don't want it all I'm also mad that I can't have it all and my peace and enjoyment of how great things used to be when we had little is ruined in that regard. Yes; too many pianos indeed. Now let me have a look at his video as I'm still in the market for one

  38. Interesting viewpoint. I see both actions of raising a track's volume via fader (without volume envelope) or via automation as mixing - there's no difference for me. So having a separate undo history would, for me, be very confusing: "did I change the volume via automation on track X or via fader on track Y? Only one is undoable". The paradigm of "If you change it you can undo it" seems more logical to me. As it is now, if I mistakenly scroll my mouse wheel when hovering over a Vel+ or Volume parameter instead of the track name in Track View (on a track without automation) then I accidentally change stuff, and it's often hard to figure out which track it was and I can't undo it. And I probably haven't saved a mix recall in advance either... (This is not my main use case, it's just an example.) As you say, saving and restoring gain has little meaning when you have envelopes. I see the most important aspect for track parameter undo to be parameter changes on tracks without envelopes. I have a lot of envelopes and automation, but not on all my tracks. I constantly use a lot of Volume and Vel+ (MIDI) track parameters without automation. I will be humble and admit this of course my view of things. And sure, just because a couple of other DAW's do it isn't an argument for doing it for you. I just wanted to point out that I'm not alone with my view, there are some high-profile apps that share it. How about an opt-in for "Include track parameter changes in undo history"? A small checkbox in Options that harms no-one? ✔️ All the best!

  40. Thanks a lot for your detailed help! It appears that my problem is, that buses don't appear in the track view for me. They have never done so in all the time I have used Cakewalk and Sonar before it. Lenses is set to None, and the track control manager is set to All. But while writing this, I just found that small button at the bottom of the track list, called "Show/Hide Bus Pane, " and when I clicked on that, the buses appeared at the bottom of the track list, for the first time ever for me... I'm blind or stupid, or both
