  4. I like supporting new developers when I can. I purchased Tape Face but when I tried to install on Mac it gave me a weird error saying to contact developer. I wrote them an email and within 20 minutes they replied and told me about the issue they are having with some versions of Mac OS and the installer. Fix was to right click on pkg and select installer manually instead of double clicking. Worked like a charm.

  5. For those interested, I've seen it go a couple of times for a bit less ($70-80-ish) on KVR, so that might be another option, if you can wait and are searching for the absolute best deal. To my ears, for clean/crunch, S-Gear is top notch. There are other great plugins for cleans, with different flavors, which I use and love (Plini, Fuse's F-59, some of Amplitube 5, plus a few more). Like those, I think S-Gear is pretty close to perfect in what it offers, but they each have their respective strengths.

  6. With these big libraries on HD's why don't they just make it so that you plug the HD into your PC and they just run from that. Why does it all need to be installed somewhere else? Am I missing something?

  8. If i recall you move them, then sign into native access and go to the product you moved and it should say in the right column there is a problem and you click repair i think then can point it to the new location and it should say ok or whatever then. Then open the standalone and let it start up and hopefully things will work. On a few moves i have had it not work and the instrument box will say something like there is stuff missing and you will have to point it to the new location. Good luck !

  10. To me S-Gear “feels” the most like a real guitar amplifier, dynamics-wise and sound-wise, for clean to low/medium gain stuff. For high gain stuff, there are better choices.

  13. Launch of Kiive Audio plugins Free Warmy EP1A Tube EQ is a 1-to-1 analog modeling plug-in based on a modern take on classic pultec EQs. There is also a 25% discount on all other plugins and I share the coupon "AUDIOTOOLS" for an extra 10% discount (then we would have a 35% discount 😉). https://www.kiiveaudio.com/plugins The other plugins • The Filkchannel Strip is an analog modelled plugin based on some of the best 500 series units from vintage german gear made in the 70's. • Tape Face is an analog emulation of a classic german tape machine with a few added features to give you versatility in every mix! • The Lunchbox Amp Sim is a recreation of one of the notable british valve amps from the 1960's.

  15. It's obvious, but the future of any software is determined for the amount of new users it attracts. I love CbB, but I see it's something like a gift by BandLab for the +40 users (like me), who used it for decades. But unlike me, lots of veteran users hate every new feature or change for the good of the software. They are stuck in the concept of "all the past time was better", and there's no other ambit in the universe where that concept is wrong, but in technology. Cakewalk is constantly improving, even more frequently than ever in the past, but along with technical improvement, it needs a daily dynamic community activity, in order to get new users who assure the existence of CbB in the future. This forum is awesome for those who already belong to the community, but it's not an entrance door for new users. A more active official Facebook page, as well as an Instagram, not to mention a more dynamic and complete website, are essential things to get new blood. Once they know about Cakewalk and start using it, they can join this forum and give fresh ideas to build the future of Cakewalk. Just my point of view. Thanks::.

  22. If you still have kontakt player available you can right click on any library (or nki) within kontakt and select open containing folder. This will open the folder where they were installed. Another way to find out is within Native access to click on the icon (graphic) of any installed library. This opens an info window and selecting installation path tab also tells you where they were installed.

  25. No question that is a generous offer. I just couldn't get past the irony of it being posted on the Cakewalk forum. ...But as was pointed out, in some cases (i.e. Melda) it can be quite a deal! It all depends on the developer. If you pick it up, let us know what you think! 🙂

  33. @Squonk2 Neutron is in itself a multi faceted effects processor that works as its own FX Chain. Use Neutron all on its own when using the “mothership” plugin or, you can use just the single modules and build out your own FX Chain. Its also worth noting that when using any of the single processing modules, they will communicate with Neutron “mothership” when it is used on a mix and master bus enabling you to utilize some automated features. This also is true when using the Relay plugin on each track. Relay also enable you to even insert the Visual Mixer plugin on the master buss and control your pans and track faders within its interface.

  39. There's a mini-series of three videos on YouTube with Justin Hayward where he talks about his amps, his guitar(s) and his guitar rack. I knew he mainly played the 355, and there's also videos of the band playing Ride My See Saw where he plays the Telecaster. There's nice little stories on here about those guitars. For the amps, his on-stage set-up seems rather complex, with a stereo Fender/Mesa Boogie set-up plus a Marshall for sustain. So good luck rigging that up in Amplitube or TH-U or whatever. Unfortunately he doesn't really discuss the actual settings here, but this is a start. It's a long time since I saw them at Leicester De Montfort Hall, just afer Question of Balance came out! jdf

  40. Finally on my music computer, busy week.. so here is what I found on the NI site when I initially had the problem in Kontakt "KONTAKT's Volume Resets When I Press Play in my Host Sequencer Symptom KONTAKT's Instrument volume is reset when you press play or stop in your host sequencer. Cause Some host sequencers are configured to send MIDI commands CC7 and CC10 when you press play or stop. KONTAKT can be configured to respond to these standardized commands to reset the loaded Instrument's volume. Solution Follow these steps to prevent KONTAKT from reacting your host sequencer's play / stop commands: Load an instance of KONTAKT in your host sequencer. Load an Instrument to KONTAKT's Rack. Press the wrench button on the upper left side of your KONTAKT Instrument. Click Instruments Options. In the Controller tab, disable the option Accept Standard Controllers for Volume and Pan. You can alternatively configure your host sequencer not to send the standard MIDI commands CC7 and CC10 when pressing play or pause. To learn how to do so, please consult your host sequencer's documentation." So yes, if the box is unchecked it is dark color. I didn't know about the gear in Komplete Kontrol cause I seldom use it, so I learned something new. So between the setting to check in cakewalk and the box in NI, most of the time the unwanted volume changes stop for me. I haven't had any problems with KK or K playing midi. I agree it is a complicated program(s) and after a year almost I am still learning. If you are having many specific KK or K problems maybe posting on the NI site forum would help. I have gotten some help there.

  41. It is still a major PITA that they never seemed to de bug the installer. I get the notice to update Calkwalk and if the assistant also say's it needs updating I have to jump through the Assistant hoops to get it working. Delete all old installers from your download folder Don't bother clicking the assistants update button it never works, go to the website and re get the latest version. Make sure the old version is closed and not running via Task manager or system tray.

  42. Here is the message I sent to David Gustafsson from Softube... After several hours of investigations on the compatibility of the latest versions of softube plugins in ProChannel mode in Cakewalk here are my conclusions: Version 2.4.96 is totally incompatible with the ProChannel version of Cakewalk, i.e. the 64-bit versions of Active Equalizer, FET Compressor, Focusing Equalizer, Passive Equalizer, TSAR-1R Reverb. In addition, all projects that were created with earlier versions of Softube (which worked relatively well) can no longer be opened. They literally crash the system and we are forced to reboot the computer, regardless of the sound card used (Apollo UAD, Focusrite Clarett, Tascam, Roland V-Studio 700). I already noticed that since versions 2.3.xx occasional instabilities appeared. But since version 2.4.xx and subsequent versions, the problems have worsened, becoming completely inoperative with version 2.4.96. It is mandatory to use the plugins in standard vst mode (vst2 or vst3) to be able to use them. This in itself is not a problem for projects that have used the standard versions of the plugins, but highly catastrophic when trying to open projects in which the plugins have been used in ProChannel mode. I wondered how the Saturation Knob plugin (64-bit) in ProChannel mode, which is in the standard Cakewalk installation, didn't crash the system, even though I'm installing the Softube plugin series from version 2.4.96, of which Saturation Knob is a part. Cakewalk installs in a particular folder all the plugins that will be recognized in ProChannel mode whose path is the following one: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal. All the ProChannel plugins installed in this folder and recognized by Cakewalk will bypass the more recent versions installed elsewhere, such as in the Vstplugins folder. for example. To my knowledge, I have never seen any Softube plugins other than Saturation Knob installed in this folder. All other plugins made by Softube, are installed in the standard Vstplugins folders, even for the ProChannel versions of Active Equalizer, FET Compressor, Focusing Equalizer, Passive Equalizer, TSAR-1R Reverb. The current version used by Cakewalk of Saturation Knob (64 bits) is 2.2.84. It bypasses the ProChannel version of the plugin, but if I use the standard vst version, I end up with version 2.4.96. Workaround: The only way I found to retrieve my projects with Softube ProChannel plugins was to unzip an old 64-bit version of the Softube installer (2.2.79) I found on my server to extract the faulty plugins and copy them to the C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal folder. I do not touch in any way the normal installation of Softube plugins which can be found in the following folder C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Softube. Now everything works perfectly, I have access to the saved settings and presets. Moreover, I found a stability with Cakewalk (Bandlab) that I hadn't known for a long time. On the picture below I inserted 6 various plugins on 64 tracks without any kind of problem It would be imperative for Softube to work on this or give indications about known bugs with the ProChannel versions of their plugins...

  43. I got a reply from them last week. There is a problem with the Vermona Random Rhythm module for Modular along with the PC modules. While their suggestion (disable Open GL support) did not fix the problem and I told them so, there was no indication they did not support CbB or the PC format. I figured out why my Saturation PC module was OK. I have an older dll for the Saturation plug-in in my PC module folder. When I renamed the old dll, the plug-in broke like the other PC modules. This lead me to a (hopefully) temporary solution for the rest of the Softube PC modules. Here is what I did - excluded the VST2 plug-ins in the plug-in manager installed the previous release of the plug-ins copied the VST2 dlls into C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal ran a scan and validated the PC modules worked ran the latest installers ran a scan and validated the VST3 plug-ins worked with the PC modules

  44. Your right it's seems to imply either or. The intent was to show the prochannel as a pluggable component before or after the effects bin in the circuit. Perhaps we can show it as a labelled component work dotted lines. @Morten Saether may have some suggestions.
