It is unlikley you have any plugins that are the same effect but have different tollerences in each instance unless you already have one of these PA tools, part of the question is it even noticable enough to care? Some of that depth, space and interest I think I can get out of some other tools with some Mid-Side, Saturation, and Stereo Expanders, and tape emulation. Realisticaly, I end up using some of all of it in a production. Also - maybe demo the Focurite SC PA plugin to start out with, you can pick up a copy of that for about $15 from some resellers that sell their code they got from a hardware purchase.2 points

If Cakewalk still comes with the ProChannel module that's based on Overloud's TapeDesk (can't remember what it's called), you can use that.2 points

That's right and AFAIK Softube have no plans to fix it. Softube broke all of their PC modules with v2.4.96 in April 2020. Any release prior to v2.4.96 should work OK. If you get an old installer, copy the VST dll into the PC module folder "shared utilities\internal" and future updates by Softube will not affect the PC module. Of course, this means relying on abandonware. not a great solution.2 points

The other guy was asking to change the PC EQ to 8 bands which is totally unnecessary ( plus filters ) if one can record and mix properly2 points

It's a rite of passage and one that Waves rely on.. sometimes you need to stumble and fall before you learn to walk.. Waves is akin to stumbling and falling for newbies ๐คฃ I bought a handful, like you, not too many, but then luckily found so many better options and companies to deal with. They won't get another cent from me unless they change ๐ Maybe not a bad thing.. I spend too much as it is! ๐คฃ2 points

New Melda beta came out yesterday. The Turbo line of effects in particular getting an optional "traditional" hardware like GUI is the move in the right direction to get more users introduced to the platform. Always updating the products. Fantastic authorization system that doesn't treat buyers like criminals so I can put them on all of my machines and not have to think about did I transfer to this computer or not is wonderful. It is really amazing what you get out of his unassuming looking plugins. You can look at some "unique" features of other products such as Vertigo Sound's VSM-2 2nd and 3rd harmonics added to different ranges. Well MSaturatorMB offers similar functionality and perhaps arguably even more. Granted I like both of the products a lot Melda tends to make me second guess a new purchase from another plugin maker perhaps more than anyone. It just put a little more ownership on the end user to know what they want to do and how to accomplish it. I likely wouldn't have thought about using MSaturatorMB in that way if it wasn't for the VS box. Since getting TurboReverbLE, I really wonder if I threw my money away on other verbs considering how much it has to offer and how good it sounds.2 points

Those other plugin makers actauly offer real upgrade features when they charge more. The only upgrade feature I've seen WAVES really do is the re-sizable GUI which was very poorly done and should have been done a long time ago. They are also the only plugin maker that I've personally had major show stopping authorization/install problems with...more than once. And if you don't have WUP, they won't lift a finger to help you other than pointing you to the cost of the "upgrade" to make your plugins work again. Honestly spending hundreds on those old plugins seems crazy to me. Not sure what you think you are getting in that package that you can't get elsewhere with more computer autorizations available. Do you need 4 "maximizers?" as an example. I haven't been around PA forever (was late to the party) but the upgrades seem to be a pretty big updates and the old versions still work just fine. As long as you are not buying the latest of what they bring to market, the prices and authorizations are way better than WAVES. And for comparisons sake, that Horizon bundle is filled with very old plugins.2 points

It's the 32C Eq's that are the "magic" along with Harrison's Analog summing. UAD plugins are really nice...and they do sound better, and the CPU offload is a bonus1 point

Right now the only aftermarket Harrison 32C Console Strip is with UAD, and you have to have the UAD Hardware to run it...1 point

The Realtek ASIO driver is not suitable for DAW use. If you want to save the entry for some reason, export it before deleting it. Then delete the Realtek entry and startup CbB1 point

Really interesting track. The mix is well done, I like the unexpected mixture beetween the modern synth, and all the acoustics instruments. Pretty original with this percussions.1 point

He's been on more recordings than you can shake a stick at. He was one of The Wrecking Crew. The Monkey's got a bad rap for not doing their own recordings because most popular recordings in the 50s and 60s were done by Campbell and/or a small group of others. This documentary is free on Youtube. I've watched it 5 or 6 times.1 point

I thought the solo cello towards the beginning was too loud anyway, so I brought it down. I checked and the verb was "baked in" from the instrument (UVI player). I took it completely down at those spots and did a Send Return reverb (Breverb) in the mix. I like it better that way anyway. Thanx! Yeah, a pro would probably mix the whole thing different anyway (or more than likely, just shoot it down). ๐คชJB1 point

Even though I kinda get what it means, I find it mildly ironic that the AI assistants giving you more control is a new feature; all the controls and settings are there (and have always been there) to tweak. Looks like it's exclusive to Music Production Suite Pro and Producers Club subscriptions for now; maybe an update for MPS 5 (just my speculation)?1 point

Thanks Mark appreciate the feedback. It is an organ sound making the reggae type hits and yes i notice it gets a bit too low in places. The bass is my old dark gibson ebo that i used playing bass in a reggae band and i did add a second bass track with a higher pitched vst bass but yeah its dark. I kinda like that it sounds a bit ominous and dread for this song but its not right for most songs1 point

Putting your computer to sleep rather than turning it off is likely to cause problems. When awaking from sleep the state the audio driver thinks the audio interface is in, is quite often different from what it actually is - and this is what is causing the weird sound. You're lucky it doesn't just crash. This is completely down to the audio driver implementation, and nothing to do with Windows or CbB. The same applies for hibernate.1 point

Waves is one of the few companies that will refuse to provide support if you don't have WUP. They also only provide one licence for each plugin unless you have WUP. I love getting random out of the blue updates from the likes of Valhalla, all free and still developed. I'd rather support guys like that and boycott Waves so they change. Plugin Alliance allow multiple installs, ongoing support and regular sales that are way cheaper than any WUP. They do charge for new versions, but they also make sure the old ones continue to work. The new versions like the others mentioned are generally full of new features. Not like Waves who just want more money for what you already have! I wonder how many more sales Waves would get if they actually listened/cared about their customers and the market. I'd almost consider this offer just for a couple of the inclusions. But with their current practices, there are better options overall for almost, if not every plugin they make. Support the Devs that care and listen ๐1 point

Uh, I'm puzzled. The song is OVER by 5:45. ๐ If you meant 4:45, that's when the harp ends and the guitar begins. It then solos and fades out. So I'm not quite sure what you're asking here. That said, I'm done. Gonna launch this one. Thanks though, for the feedback.1 point

Interesting piece John (I can see what Jesse said about "experimental" at the 4:00 mark). Interesting melody; I'm a bit more traditional when it comes to meter and rhyme. But I've read and enjoyed plenty of poetry that "defied" traditional rhyme and meter. A word on the bass, Trilian, especially in the upper registers (for me at least), tends to get "funky" when hit hard with the velocities, that initial "hard" attack, kind of makes it "stand out" too much. That's what I think I'm hearing as far as the "volume" of the bass track. Not as "dark" as some of your recent stuff, thats a good thing from my point of view (especially given the times in which we live). ๐ from me t The verb on the strings, is that "baked" into the patches you used? A little bit of "are we all in the same space?" on the mix.1 point

Now how many of you guys only own virtual (sampled) cowbells but no physical cowbells? Okay, since I'm faux bragging about cowbells, here's an almost brag. I not only have multiple physical cowbells, back in the day, one of my bands actually had a gig opening for Blue Oyster Cult. Sadly, the club was temporarily closed for serving minors a week before the show and it never came to pass. #CowbellPride1 point

... and deal with cleaning after install as it is still not providing way to forbid to install all possible versions. They are not to clever or maybe they don't care about user experience too much.. I created long time ago ticket to support for this improvement but they don't care... Prefer have less work. Users can care themselves about order and meaning...1 point
