  2. [UPDATE 14-May-2021: Cakewalk 2021.04 Update 1 Release Candidate 1 (build 27.04.0.170) is now available] We plan to release 2021.04 Update 1 in the near future. Please test recording in this build and verify that normal, loop, punch and combinations thereof are working as expected. We appreciate users helping make Cakewalk better by reporting crashes to us as well as plug-in vendors when necessary. Update May 14 2021: 2021.04 Update 1 RC1 (build 27.04.0.170) Improved Error Detection Using a DAW with many plug-ins can sometimes result in stability issues and crashes. It can be a difficult to troubleshoot issues like this. To assist, we have made several improvements to our error handling. Enhanced error detection is now integrated into the DAW. This feature is opt-in for now and may be enabled by adding the ExceptionHandlingSeverity value to the Cakewalk.ini initialization file. We appreciate users helping make Cakewalk better by reporting crashes to us as well as plug-in vendors when necessary. To control the error detection sensitivity, you can now add a new ExceptionHandlingSeverity value in Preferences > File - Initialization File. Valid values for this setting are: 1 - Unhandled errors are caught (default) 3 - All access violations are detected and unhandled exceptions are caught 5 - Unhandled errors and heap corruption is detected 7 - Unhandled errors, all access violations and heap corruption errors are caught (this is the strictest error detection mode) The error detection dialog has been redesigned and now has links to the crash dump file as well as a link to log an error report with Cakewalk directly. In addition to the crash dump file, a text log of relevant data specific to the session is also listed. Please include the log file as well as the dump file when submitting errors. The error detection dialog has a direct link to log an issue with customer service. We encourage you to report issues and include relevant information about the crash including the log and dump file. When applicable, the crash dialog allows you the option of continuing after a crash. Please note that the behavior after resuming is not guaranteed and is provided as a last resort to access project information when a crash occurs. It should only be used in cases where the crash is known to be continuable. If you have enabled ExceptionHandlingSeverity, to go back to the default value you can delete this variable. To troubleshoot problems that may arise when using plugins we recommend users set this value to 7 which provides the highest error detection capabilities. Bug fixes Recording: Recorded audio clips placed late on timeline by the ASIO record latency. Punch recording writes wave file data past the end of the punch region. Punch Recorded clips punched out too early in projects containing containing synths. Punch in recording occurs late with Aux or synth tracks. Last take punches out too early when loop and punch out regions coincide. Various improvements to punch and loop recording. BandLab integration: Instrument tracks upload to BandLab as separate audio and MIDI tracks when frozen. Track Mute state does not persist when uploading to BandLab. Revision description not setting project notes when downloading a revision. Browse BandLab Projects dialog does not display Unicode double byte characters. Tempo track: Process > Fit to Time supports Tempo track when Tempo Map is selected under Modify by Changing. Tempo track tempo not being set by New Project dialog. Tempo nodes are selected when selecting an Arranger section, even if Arranger Exclude is enabled on the Tempo track. Loading pre Tempo track projects by default will not attempt to create envelope shapes from the tempo map. Tempo node delete can delete selected clips. Deleting Arranger section clears the tempo envelope. Tempo nodes being added past the end of the project when loading older projects. Offset Tempo Map doesn't respect time selection. Default envelope shape for tempo track should be Jump (when using Clear All). Arranger Tracks: Deleting multiple Arranger sections doesn't work after changing section colors. Unexpected behavior with overlap threshold when not using Split MIDI Notes / Non-Destructive MIDI Editing. Articulation Maps: Articulation selected unexpectedly in some cases. Selecting a clip with articulations should partially select articulations outside the clip extents. Unexpected behavior using CTRL + right button drag articulation selection. Cut & paste articulation can cause overlapped articulations. UI: Misc. menu issues on multi-monitor systems when the monitors have significantly different resolution/scale settings: Menus not appearing. Menus appearing on the wrong monitor. Incorrectly sized menus Track view no longer visible in Keyboard Shortcut category dropdown. Piano Roll view Aim Assist line slightly off when left is scrolled beyond zero. Staff view not updating after nudging nodes. Misc.: Preferences > File - Initialization File saves a blank Cakewalk.ini entry which prevents adding new options. Please note that Early Access installers are update installers, which only update from a specific version. To install the 2021.04 Update 1 Early Access RC1 build, you must be on the latest public release of 2021.04 or 2021.04 Update 1 Early Access. Download Cakewalk 2021.04 Update 1 RC1 installer Should you need to revert to the 2021.01 release, you can download the Cakewalk 2021.01 Rollback installer.

  11. The photos of that strat don't do the color scheme justice. Years ago, I bought a GC/MF exclusive build of the Ascari GT in Irish Ale. Gorgeous. Excellent quality fit and finish. Love the piping. The third 'bucker and 10-way switch were the exclusives.

  14. ASIO4All has nothing to do with MIDI. ASIO has nothing to do with MIDI. ASIO4All was developed as a way for a user to connect Windows Audio to software that required an ASIO driver. ASIO4All is not a driver, it is a wrapper for Windows WDM drivers. The reason ASIO is preferred is a well written ASIO driver provides the audio interface optimized communication with the DAW. This is not the same as using ASIO4All because ASIO4All is just a middleman making WDM drivers look like an ASIO driver to the DAW. In addition to ASIO, CbB natively supports all the Windows audio driver modes. WASAPI modes are the best choice for Win10 systems when using the PC audio chip. Older OSes should use WDM. MME is the most compatible but the poorest performing, hence, it is the last choice. WRT using a MIDI keyboard controller with CbB, maybe this thread will give you a few ideas There are several beginners videos about how to use MIDI, see the tutorials section of this forum for links to them.

  27. By the to clarify , it s not PA at all , and vsm 3 is another flavor ... the fact that PA does the sale now is not cool for vertigo if you ask me , strange behavior from ex partners ... If i had to keep one , it would be the vertigo , simply because like the vsc 3 (the compressor) it really keeps depth , reminds uad plugin versus native , most of time the low and highs is where the differents is ... What surprised me also is that even when drived the transient while mastered are not killed like a lot of unit around ... Another is the transformer !!! You get tubes and transformers and combinaison can be great ... vsm 3 imho is a good complement to this one , and if vsm 4 is too expensive for a guy , it could be a good start ...personnally on the pa offering , i would go black box forst before vsm 3 , easier and with more features ...

  28. A total no-brainer deal right there! I would gladly pay that for any of the Vertigo stuff sight unseen if VSC-2 is any indication of the quality. It's still one of my favs. I remember liking VSM-3 fine after I bought it, but never went back with so many simple-to-use and great saturation/distortion plugins around. Now to watch Zo's video and push aside Black Box* and dust off VSM-3... Thanks for the reminder Zo! What a great time to be making music! * Insert any number of other great and easy to use saturation/distortion plugins... ---- Ha! I posted this before reading the forum this morning and look what was just posted by The Man himself! 🤪 They must read this forum...

  33. What I did, at the cost of some sound quality; 1) Connect a standard cassette deck to e.g. Cakewalk 2) Play the 4-track tape forward, record it to tracks 1 and 2 3) When it ends, turn it over and play it (backwards), record it to tracks 3 and 4 4) Reverse tracks 3 and 4 (I think I used Audacity) That gave me all four tracks, though I may have had to do a bit of time-stretching to make them line up start to finish. But they did finally, and the process helped me appreciate again the wonders of DAWs.

  37. Maybe I should actually use VSM-3 before looking at this one?? I still love VSC-2 but have never ponied up for the VSC-3 version. It's too bad Vertigo parted ways with Plugin Alliance, because otherwise there might be a chance to get a good deal on these!

  41. Well the boys and girls in the band were good but the song is pure Jesse. Although pursuant to the conversations above, this song must be jazz (jelly) because funk (jam) don't shake like that. BTW, the drums - the drums - who played the drums? Nice one pal!

  42. This policy is what's keeping me from upgrading. I've normally waited for the 50% off sale to upgrade (and regularly). But if there's no penalty in waiting for a few versions to go by, why spend money now. SO4 does everthing I need.

  43. There's a known issue with Ozone 9 Advanced modules loading slowly if they were computer authorized, which all my iZotope plugins are. The solution is to install the iLok software even though iLok authorization is NOT being used, and this enables normal fast load times. I verified this issue with iZotope support a while ago. If you don't have iLok installed, this solution might help ...

  45. @immrama technically the issue is masked Only Motu would be able to actually fix the underlying problem which was flagged with the higher ExceptionHandlingSeverity. But its good that the problem is resolved for you.

  47. Have you installed a new Google Font recently? It seems that some Google Fonts either sourced from the web and/or installed what they deem "improperly" (though I've never installed a font any other way than right-click --> install on Windows but Google might have their own way of doing things which wouldn't be surprising) might cause this behavior in some software applications. I've run it up the flagpole, though, as that Google Fonts thing sounds like a cop out from them and either way we probably could avoid using the last-installed font on our side to go around anything atypical that Google or any other font creator does.

  50. I'm sort of relieved you couldn't find any sounds either, John! I have the free Halion Glockenspiel and a Baltic soundset I bought recently and that is all I could find. I did update Halion SE3 to the latest version as mine was a few releases behind but didn't get any additional sounds then either. I'm glad I unticked the Generic ASIO driver I use ASIO4All (I know, I know 😉 but it works for me most of the time!) with my onboard sound and didn't want that messed up So still not sure where / how Xel Ohh got his sounds from. Agree with the Steinberg licensing comment too - what a pain - I added the free Guitar Harmonics and it didn't see it at first until I undertook the maintenance procedure again
