  8. If every mix you do uncovers a bug then most likely there is a recurring theme of something common in your workflow and plugins, that exposes these issues and the only way to to isolate it is to log specific cases and follow up with us to help us diagnose the cause. This isn’t the normal experience for tens of thousands of users who use Cakewalk daily. I understand your frustration and we want to help, but making assumptions that all your issues are cakewalk problems without going through a proper troubleshooting process, is not going to be productive to solve them in itself. I’ve written at length about how most plugin issues are caused by lack of testing by plugin developers in multiple hosts (many only test on Mac DAW’s). About 70% of the issues we find are bugs in the plugins that are host specific. When we isolate them I report them to the developers and they normally fix them promptly. In other cases when possible we implement workarounds in the DAW but that isn’t always possible. Are you running the latest updates to Fabfilter? We use those plugins routinely and never have crashes. There were known crashes with it that the developer fixed in an update. Like us they are very proactive about fixing crashes. The bottom line is if a plugin crashes its almost certain that the root problem is unexpected code in the plugin. Always send all crash dumps for investigation. If the crash is in the plugin the dump should also be sent to the plugin developer since they are the most obvious candidate to fix the issue. The fact that a plugin crashes in one daw but not another only means that the plugin was not tested enough in that DAW. Please read my article on diagnosing plugin problems in the FAQ where I go into further depth on this issue if you want to learn more about it. Many users would differ with you on this. Ripple editing is a fundamental editing feature that is used under the hood in a variety of operations which is why it needs to be robust. We can’t possible please every user with every update, but we do but we try to cover a broad area of stability and workflow fixes in every release. One of your reported issues is already in the next update. I realize that it takes time to report issues, time that you could be making music, but if errors encountered are not reported there is little chance of them being investigated. The use cases in a DAW are enormous so many others may never encounter the specific problems you see. We take every reported case seriously even if we don’t get to fixing them immediately. If you are willing to work with us, you may find that most of your problems can be solved quickly.

  9. I've always liked Audio Deluxe because I like the layout and navigation on that site. But PB has been getting my business lately in part because of their freebies. I checked AD as I was writing this, and now they've got and AAS freebie with purchase. Game on! https://www.audiodeluxe.com/

  10. My experience/opinion. Have only nice things to say about UVI. Fast and friendly support when I found a bug in their installer, for something that just was a freebie. WUP seems designed to milk Mac users (that upgrade the OS) and for Windows users it makes installing troubling and bothersome, that is if you don't upgrade, that in most cases gives you no value at all. Support is slow to respond, the products are solid but a lot of it insanely out of date and their scaling solutions laughable. Bundles are still good value and upgrade options make mostly sense, which is rare in this area. IK Multimedia has given me tremendous value, I haven't used support as far as I remember, but then I work in IT with a lot of experience. But upgrade options for some products, are peculiar. Akai/Sonivox/AIR, seems to have zero support, cheap products when on sale. Izotope, customers with their advanced versions, are more or less, not awarded with better upgrade deals compared to other customers. But they are friendly and their products have lots of value. Plugin Boutique has the best customer web site par none (Plugin Alliance second?). Decent support.

  12. Odd - I haven't tried TI (just have - it works and also to the Pro Channel, where it creates an FX Chain module too), but it definitely works into a track (or bus) FX bin in the track view or console view here. I've even checked back to SONAR Platinum and it works there too. Just to check, we are both talking about the same part of the browser?

I asked her who it was. She said that his name was Tommy. I said....... "the one that used to work on the docks?"

  15. chris.r, Thanks for participating! I was sure there was no problem here. I thought I didn't know something and someone would tell me which setting to enable. I have been working in Sonar for a long time since the 5th version, but I have always drawn midi-cc with my hands and a mouse. And now I write orchestral music, and now it's easier to play a part on the midi keyboard, and then edit what I need. Now I understand that Sonar can't do that at all. It seemed to me that this was some kind of very basic skill for DAW. In large projects, drawing with my hands and mouse becomes hard. Maybe the developers will hear us and organize this function?😉

  26. All you have to do is log on to Command center. You can then install most of the plug ins that came with the older versions. Most have there own installers and activation codes so no need to even install X3. You really should have all those backed up anyway as there's $1,000's worth of stuff well worth keeping safe. When Gibson shut down most of us made backups of everything including all the serial numbers etc. All you're Cakewalk products should still be accessible from the old Web site https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account You don't need the disk but you can still use them. Log in and go to My Products. If you can't log in Support here will help you with that still. This is a list of all included plug ins- a user created. https://www.dropbox.com/s/fa9totrruxnlmvq/Sonar_Plugins_3 to X3.xlsx?dl=0 https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Plug-ins.1.html It is recommended you start with the oldest version and work your way forward. Myself I have never done this and had no issues at all. I just wait till the day I needed something and run the installer for that version bare bones. Uncheck everything but the one plug in I need. The Software takes up very little room. But the items I mentioned all have separate installers and for me I have back ups of the old Command Center download folder so I just install Command center and before I run it, I copy every thing into that folder. This saves re-downloading the files so is fast. Here's the link to the videos- https://sites.google.com/view/cactus-studios/cakewalk-videos

  28. I have Waves v9, v10, and v12 version plugins that will not work unless I WUP and get support. I don't have this problem with any of the other over 1000 plugins I have, in fact Waves is the only one I've ever had real install and authorization issues with. I do have over 20 WAVES plugins that do still work, but there are some that don't even though they absolutly should. As for paying $19 a week for WUP, that is the most absurd nonsese I can think of. I can get everything PA has for a fraction of that and get to keep a bunch of them. They are better than WAVES in every concievable way. Even when I was under WUP the support was mediocre at best. And frandkly I shouldn't need support, I know my way around computers, if something isn't working it is a product issue.

  29. Uninstall Cakewalk. Install Sonar. Install Cakewalk. Accept default folders in all cases. CbB will see all the Sonar plugins. As for sounding different in Cakewalk, Windows may very well use an app for playback the has settings that is messing with the sound.

  30. Okay, I think I need to add some definitions. Browser: the multifunction window that's docked to the right of the Track Pane by default. It may be collapsed, relocated, or closed entirely. Displays a list of plug-in category folders (among other things). Plug-ins may be dragged and dropped from this window on to tracks in the Track and Console views. Plug-in names that show up in this view may be edited and relocated to one or more category folders via a right-click menu. FX Rack and Insert Synth Menus: these are flyout menus that appear when the "+" sign is clicked in an FX rack or when the user is choosing a synth in the Synth Rack or Replace Synth dialogs. Cakewalk Plug-In Manager: accessed by going to Utilities > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager. Among its other functions, this allows you to organize your plug-ins into folders and categories for display in the Browser and FX Rack/Insert Synth menus. Now. If I use the functions in the Browser to customize my layout, the next time I install a plug-in that doesn't have a category string that Cakewalk can use to put it in a category, Cakewalk will display the category "Uncategorized" in the Browser with the new plug-in in that category. Then I can select it (or multiple ones) and use the right click menu to move it to another category. However, if I've used Cakewalk Plug-In Manager, unless a new plug-in has a category string that matches one of the category names I'm using in my layout, the plug-in won't show up at all in the Browser view. This is a pain in the rear for someone who tries out as many plug-ins as I do. The Cakewalk Plug-In Manager allows for greater versatility with folders as well as drag-and-drop organization. However, it's basically a separate program that must be launched, then you do your work, then save and close. The developers have said multiple times that they consider it a dead end and want to move its functions to other areas of the program. I don't want to become dependent on it for my workflow. As far as inserting plug-ins, my only complaint about the flyout menus is that depending on sort criteria, the list can scroll off the bottom of the screen and require moving around by clicking on tiny arrows. They don't respond to mousewheeling.

  35. this is a really good track and personally i would never use Landr - it seems to have given this a very toppy sound. I really like your vocals. with a bit more mixing and better mastering this could be a stellar track - as tom said, never surrender, its what home studios are for!!!! Nigel

  37. Personally, I love their GEM plugins. I would recommend waiting for a sale. There was a time a few years ago when they put a different GEM on sale every week, but more recently their sales coincide with the 'main' sales (e.g. Black Friday, etc). If you already have a GEM, you can further discount the discount price with a code that's available when you log in (I'm pretty sure it's the same for everyone, but I'm not going to post it).

  38. You have obviously worked hard on the composition and capture, it does unfortunately suffer from Mechanical Auto Mastering that such tools as LANDR impart to mixes. Much better to learn how to finalise a tune yourself. No amount of mastering will correct a mix. Start with as near perfect mix as you can get with the tonal balance you want. Theses Mastering Tools like LANDR apply what they believe the tonal balance, i.e. EQ should be before applying limiting. Their Tonal balance is what all other songs sound like and if you want to stand out from the crowd you do not want to sound like everyone else do you? I would suggest you go get your self SPAN from Voxegon which is free that will give you and idea of tonal balance and the Youlean Loudness tool, which is also free. Both, which are just indicative tools, will help you get good tonal balance and level without resulting to computer algorithms to get what someone else thinks your music should sound like.

  39. Providing excellent support for Cakewalk by BandLab has always been and remains a top priority for us. With a rapidly growing user base, we must focus our support on issues that directly concern the usage and functionality of the Cakewalk by Bandlab application software.
