  2. What do you use it for, Zo? To my ears it sounds like a poorly designed or even a damaged circuit.

  5. Nah. I was gonna bring it up to date.... The tinkering of the mobo's inadvertently releases a non existent computer virus that it is said will kill all the computers in the world, which the non-gender specific hero character, braigc, has to fight all alone because of not being allowed out and the worldwide banning of the expression of electronic opinions contrary to those dictated by the other main character, Willomena Fences, who somehow made billions despite not really knowing much about how computers work, let alone viruses, but is suddenly an expert on everything. Willomena claims to have spent all the money on some special water to inject into all the mobos to stop then from dying. braigc is powerless to stop Willomena's epic fraud and has to sit at home dismayed that all the computer's owners are standing in line for Willomema's special water, not realising that rather than save them, it will actually kill them because nobody thought to question the wisdom of injecting untested special water into computers that were actually not even broken in the first place. In the end Willomena makes even more money from selling new computers to everyone despite being the one that killed them all because they were able to blame the fact that it didn't work on a few rebels who hid their computers away and didn't inject Willomena's special water into them. Strangely these are the only computers left from the old world that still work in the new world, but nobody seems to question that. However, braigc is not done and vows to get even with Willomena by throwing long needles in a specific order, a skill than unbeknown to him he has been practicing for many years, with seemingly little point.............. until now. To be continued.......] Cue Aerosmith with the cunningly crafted theme music, thus making the whole thing music related. (sorry Gregy, Steven is just too charming to refuse).

  8. I thought I would share some fun news. Tonight on ABC at 7:00 PM EST, I will be on America’s Funniest Home Videos. I am not sure where in the program, but keep a look out for someone talking about the hazards of lawnmowers and bees 🐝

  9. Okay, I think I need to add some definitions. Browser: the multifunction window that's docked to the right of the Track Pane by default. It may be collapsed, relocated, or closed entirely. Displays a list of plug-in category folders (among other things). Plug-ins may be dragged and dropped from this window on to tracks in the Track and Console views. Plug-in names that show up in this view may be edited and relocated to one or more category folders via a right-click menu. FX Rack and Insert Synth Menus: these are flyout menus that appear when the "+" sign is clicked in an FX rack or when the user is choosing a synth in the Synth Rack or Replace Synth dialogs. Cakewalk Plug-In Manager: accessed by going to Utilities > Cakewalk Plug-in Manager. Among its other functions, this allows you to organize your plug-ins into folders and categories for display in the Browser and FX Rack/Insert Synth menus. Now. If I use the functions in the Browser to customize my layout, the next time I install a plug-in that doesn't have a category string that Cakewalk can use to put it in a category, Cakewalk will display the category "Uncategorized" in the Browser with the new plug-in in that category. Then I can select it (or multiple ones) and use the right click menu to move it to another category. However, if I've used Cakewalk Plug-In Manager, unless a new plug-in has a category string that matches one of the category names I'm using in my layout, the plug-in won't show up at all in the Browser view. This is a pain in the rear for someone who tries out as many plug-ins as I do. The Cakewalk Plug-In Manager allows for greater versatility with folders as well as drag-and-drop organization. However, it's basically a separate program that must be launched, then you do your work, then save and close. The developers have said multiple times that they consider it a dead end and want to move its functions to other areas of the program. I don't want to become dependent on it for my workflow. As far as inserting plug-ins, my only complaint about the flyout menus is that depending on sort criteria, the list can scroll off the bottom of the screen and require moving around by clicking on tiny arrows. They don't respond to mousewheeling.

  11. Shane, You got at least one big benefit going forward. Complete cure for GAS if you do it right. Realized the trend when trying to buy a delay unit several years ago and the site responded that I had already purchased the plug, did I want another set of licenses. Then I knew that fading memory was a gift. All I had to do was wait a few months and I forgot whatever it was I bought. Could then start cycling thru the purchases I had no clue I'd made. Like getting new expensive plugins all the time without having to buy anything anymore. Big perk for surviving thru time past my limit, but have to admit that getting old has otherwise not so many other benefits. All you young dudes out there don't got to worry about it (for awhile...) 13. Another endorsement of Process Lasso here. Some have accused it of being snake oil, but that's in regard to its claims about what it does in its default behavior. What I like about it is its ability to kill processes that won't stay down when killed in Task Manager or even Process Explorer. Even the difficult ones that respawn immediately, like Xbox Game Services and Apple Mobile device support, you tell PL that they're not allowed and it's like putting out a mob hit in the movies. I once watched Process Lasso deliver a beatdown on Apple Mobile device support that was epic in computer terms. I had it set to kill all three components, which if any of the other Apple service see that one of their fellows is offline, they will start it back up. Process Lasso just kept hammering away on all three of them until for whatever reason, the Apple stuff gave up. The Apple stuff would respawn in a matter of microseconds, and this went on for about 45 seconds, so an eternity in computer time.

  14. Thanks for listening everybody, someday I would like to buy you all a round, by the crystal blue lake, in the opening of the pines, and we could sit around and shoot the breeze, and laugh about stupid stuff, and have another round, and then tell some stupid jokes, and eat some BBQ, and all that stuff people do when they are hanging out, having a good time, on a sun shiny day, with all the folks we love, and everybody getting along, like light a clean fire, and watch the sunset and watch the milky way spin in the heavens, and then when it gets way past midnight we all head go to our tents and fall asleep with a smile on our faces. Then I could make a stiff pot of coffee, and have some breakfast food, and jump in the lake to freshen up, and then go fo a hike-if you wanted to- and then take a nap, and have a little lunch and then do it all over again, I wish Thanks for listening everybody, someday I would like to buy you all a round, by the crystal blue lake, in the opening of the pines, and we could sit around and shoot the breeze, and laugh about stupid stuff, and have another round, and then tell some stupid jokes, and eat some BBQ, and all that stuff people do when they are hanging out, having a good time, on a sun shiny day, with all the folks we love, and everybody getting along, like light a clean fire, and watch the sunset and watch the milky way spin in the heavens, and then when it gets way past midnight we all head go to our tents and fall asleep with a smile on our faces. 16. I put my license on a USB stick and I can install on as many computers as I want. I can work on my PC and if I need to switch to my Mac I move the USB stick from the PC to the Mac. However unlikely it is, I can go to any studio in the world install all the Waves bundles I own and plug in my USB stick and I'm off and running. For me that is a close to multiple-seat licenses as I need to get without paying for it. I've always felt that I got my money's worth from WUP for all the new plugs I've gotten every year in Mercury. My only gripe is that new Abbey Road plugs come at cost (usually quite small though). I'm perfectly happy to pay my WUP.

  18. I don't remember what revision this used to be possible in, but back in the 90s, Cakewalk used to be able to show 6/8 time in the Piano Roll View "properly" (e.g., with two groups of six sixteenth notes on the grid and one bar separating the two when set to sixteenth resolution). Now, no matter what I try, I cannot get it to show that - instead, it shows 6/8 time as if it were 3/4 time, with three groups of four sixteenth notes on the grid and two bars separating them. I can force my brain to think around this weird presentation, but it is certainly not optimal. Can we please get a native 6/8 display in the Piano Roll View instead? Thank you!

  26. One perspective... there is a definite advantage to having a locked set of tools. You get proficient with what they can do and adapt to what they cannot. Sometimes gaps require other tools, but DSP has matured enough that many upgrade features are hit or miss either from very specific audiences intended for them, or if those tools will actually get used (sometimes yes, sometimes no). Updates can end up wasting time that could be spent making music.

  28. Hey Steve, very nice love song and your voice is just perfect for the genre. I thought the voc track needs to stand out bit more. Also I thought I was hearing something like static throughout the song and especially at the fade out, like aliasing noise or something. But I should mention I have some hearing issues so that might just be me. That's the reason I don't comment so much on audio engineering stuff 'cause I just don't trust my ears. -Bjorn

  36. Being relatively unfamiliar with using plug-ins I find the Categories useful. I've tried to maintain a list of a minimal number of Categories. That forces me to understand the function of a plug-in well enough to determine what Category to place it in. If I don't understand a plug-in or where to place it, I don't need it. So the Categories help me to maintain focus.

  38. I think I'm getting too old for any DAW. I've lost my creativity and desire to dive in to it like I used to. At this point I'm kind of like a zombie. Getting slower, running on muscle memory/instinct only, can't learn anything new, forgot 99% of what I used to know. I feel like I should like recording but can't remember why. Essentially I've turned in to a real life Bub.

  39. Thanks for the info Clovis, such a great feature! Though, by the time I go through and correct all the weird markers etc. it's close to the time that it takes to do it manually. I will dig in and find out what I can. Just trying to get it to work better. Cheers JG

  44. Thanks for the reminder. I keep forgetting about this. Also, not sure if I noticed the alternative names feature before. @GreenLightInstead of being a small, single chord display in the Transport Module, I am wondering if it might be useful to more people who use midi as an optional control bar module with collapsed, small, medium, and large sizes.

  45. Cool! I'll check it out. In an attempt to learn to work with multi-parameters a couple of years ago, I did the "Notching EQ" in the free EQ. You basically move the node around to find a bad resonance, then use the multi-parameter to pull down the gain. It narrows the Q with the gain so it becomes a notched frequency. (So it wouldn't work with the free bundle until it is upgraded which allows the multi-parameters. The Melda Presets could use some love. I hate the nonsense names that come with the plugins. Totally useless.
