Btw I was able to make contact last month with Terry's wife Joan. She told me she'd be in touch with any news. I send her a message now and then to let her know we're thinking of them, but of course I don't press her for information. If I hear from her again I'll post right away.9 points

I got their Viola Untamed during their intro offer. It is not a typical solo string instrument. It's more in Ben Osterhouse territory, very unique and imaginative.. While I don't need more standard solo string instruments, I will definitely be on the lookout for future sales of their bass, cello, and violin. I'm expect their approach to the piano will be equally special. I am on the lookout for the next sale.3 points

While looking for some Kontakt player Violin samples, I came across Westwood Instruments. Home - Westwood Instruments They have, a violin for 69 euros - that sounds beautiful. Plus - for the Deal Junkies - there is a free Felt Piano available that sounds reallll nice. UPRIGHT FELT PIANO - Westwood Instruments Very much in the vein of Spitfire Audio2 points

There are instances where interface manufacturers don't bother with optimizing performance with anything other than the ASIO driver they supply. The built-in sound chip is an exception. The ASIO driver for it is not very good but a lot of work has gone into getting decent playback with the Windows driver. And a lot of work has gone in to CbB to support more than just ASIO.2 points

Generic ASIO "drivers", FL Studio included are not true drivers, they are wrappers for WDM drivers. Generic ASIO drivers have been known to interfere with manufacturer supplied ASIO drivers. This make them a poor choice when swapping between interfaces where some have factory supplied ASIO drivers and some don't. When using the internal sound chip and running Win10 the WASAPI modes are preferred, otherwise WDM is the best choice. Regardless, during playback, latency is not the issue it is when recording and monitoring through the DAW.2 points

Shouldn't the whole "getting paid" thing be a consequence of you finding an audience, rather than something you think you should deserve?2 points

Barry . . . this one tells a story, and paints many mental pictures, and it reaches deep into the listener, young or old, I think . . . one of those rare poetic moments where it's painful and beautiful all at the same time. Mix wise, not sure how you could do it different, the vocals and lyrical poetry takes most of my attention as I listen, and the gentle guitar flows along with it, none of the other instruments take away from that, they only add to it. I sincerely hope more people of the world get to hear this.2 points

So that is why the staff view improvements have been taking so long to make them Whole Sorry Jonathan I couldn't resist2 points

What makes you think this? There is a stable release now that came out about 60 days ago. How often do you usually get updates of your audio software? Other companies take way longer to issue updates than BandLab. Some even years or never. Usually with Cakewalk, when it takes longer than usual the next release will include some fab new features. Now that most of the longstanding bugs have been dealt with, we've seen biggies like the Arranger Track and Articulations Map. Maybe there's something new in the works. Maybe the developers took some time off. Whatever, 2 months is not a long time to wait for an update of DAW software.2 points

I'm asking for real scrutiny on this one. It's quiet and contemplative; if there are any hiccups that distract, I need to know about them. My bassist friend Jack provided upright bass on this, both for the pizzicato bass and the solo. I am indebted to him. I've been working on it for a long time, I need some perspective. Thanks in advance for any / all guidance you can provide.1 point

Hi, Is there a place one can go to adjust the settings of how Cakewalk will "Split clips at audio snap pool"? Audio snap puts it's markers at the peak of the transient, I feel like that's not the best split-point when trying to quantize real drum multitracks. Also, after splitting, it seems to put crossfades but they don't cross, so there are gaps all over the place. Wondering if I can tweak any settings to get this working better? Thanks J1 point

When you put your voice to a melody and lyrics like these, you're bound to hit a homerun. I really appreciate your restraint because some would embellish the hell out of this when it isn't necessary. Good job, Barry!1 point

@VSTBuzz is having a special that includes ALL of the expansions for $112.29 (norm. $373.15) (don't you love the exchange rates 🙄) http://bit.ly/VSTBuzz_PureSynth_Platinum_Bundle. I purchased Pure Synth Platinum a while ago as it is a really great instrument to take on the road as it is fairly kind regarding using resources. Thanks to Gospel Musicians and VSTBuzz for unlocking the other expansions so that I can share the experience with you. I hope to see you this afternoon: My link is a VSTBuzz affiliate , providing a small commission to help support the channel. I did however purchase and use Pure Synth myself, Gospel Musicians have unlocked the expansions so that I can share the full package with all of you.1 point

There's a big difference when using WASAPI modes with on board and using them with an ASIO interface. The performance is surprisingly real good with on board sound but terrible if you try and use them with a proper audio interface, This is the heart of why I made the 2 videos. During my tests for making this video, I stumbled across the performance difference and investigated it further. A lot of new people to Cakewalk don't have audio interfaces but have trouble just getting sound from On Board.1 point

I use FL Studio ASIO Driver with onboard chips on my laptop. It works great with the Cakewalk. There is no different profiles for Audio devices in the Cakewalk but if you choose Default Audio driver with the FL Studio ASIO Driver, when you change your Audio Device from the Windows Sound Settings, it will change automatically without opening it from the Preferences menu. It is easier to change the Audio Playback/Recording Device with a single click with the Cakefolk™ for the Cakewalk with your Numpad keys up to 6 different audio playback and recording device.1 point

Ha, not a lot to go by with 9 seconds of a potential chorus, with possible vocals ! . . . but I kind of hear a chord progression, think you should bring that out more, and not so much of the lead part, which may ultimately compete with the vocal . . . but who knows, anything can work, if you can make it work.1 point

you are me as a twelve year old Not far off - I bought the single in 1976 at the tender age of 14. Still got it as it happens 😊 Interesting trivia: The original version sung by Hank Thompson can be heard in one scene of the quite marvellous movie The Last Picture Show.1 point

These guys have been around since 1994. I tried out a trial version of their software as I was considering applying for a job there at one point. It's pretty good: https://www.earmaster.com/1 point

My issue was insurmountable. Weeks of troubleshooting with two separate Tascam units and popping problems all over the place. I am convinced there is something wrong with the driver. I outlined it all here as well. The Tascams are returned and out of my life for good, I'm sorry to say (for Tascam), and now I'm the happy owner of a new Focusrite 8i6 which plugged in, loaded up, and worked like a charm within the first minutes and on! It is such a pleasure to just buy something and have it just work!1 point
