  1. We will have an integrated preset sharing system coming. I happen to have just watched a video showing its features last night. That said, the installation rtf should explain the quick process of copying presets to the correct folder that is currently required.

  2. So I got it. When I got it home, I adjusted the truss rod straight away and the neck backed off to straight. There's a very small hump which I expect will go down over the next few days, then I'll use a block of wood and a hammer to bash the frets in to make sure they are seated properly, sometimes they can rise with an arched bow for some time. The frets themselves are in great condition, just dirty, so I'll give the fretboard a wash down, scrub up the frets with some scotchguard and a sanding block. I won't even bother sanding them. Worst case scenario, I'll do a small sand and crown of about 4 frets but I don't think it will be necessary. It hasn't been used much at all just left and neglected. The nut is set really well and slot depth is perfect, unusual, normally it's a bit high because I like it low and usually have to lower it on any guitar I buy unless it's had a set up. It's got grover tuners and it keeps tune really well. It's totally smooth tuning up and down, no jerkiness of the strings through the nut, a joy to tune actually, despite the fact that the strings are as rusty and old as strings can get. The bridge is a bit frightening, it looks as though someone may have glued it to the sound board, I hope not, it's supposed to be a free floating bridge, I won't know for sure until I strip it down. I measured it and it's off best intonation by about 4mm so I hope I can move it, you wouldn't know it though by the sound. The body and back of the neck is cosmetically good, what I thought were dings or scratches were just dried on dirt which comes off with the fingernail, I'll give it a thorough wet clean later. The electrics are faultless, no scratching or crackling from any of the pots or the switch and the jack is fine, very tight and can't get any noise even wiggling it. Totally silent electrical operation through all the electronics. The reason I haven't got started with it straight away is because there is a problem that took me a little time to track down. I was on the Jazz forums and apparently with archtops, there can be problems with eliminating buzzing from the guitar, not fret buzzing but various components buzzing when you play. I was getting terrible buzzing acoustically that was also spilling into the electric sound. I eventually traced it down to the pickups rattling inside and against the pickup mounts. From other forums I saw others having the same problem and it seemed to take them some time to trace it as well. You think that because you've tightened the pickup mount screws against the soundboard that they are tight, so it can't be the pickups. They are tight but the pickups themselves are not, they buzz against the insides of the mounts. I put my fingers on the pickups forcing them against the mounts under pressure and the buzzing was gone. I've left it as is with the strings on so I can test it while I try to come up with a solution to this problem. Not sure what to do about it yet. Something that will not be visible. Ramming a pick between the pickups and the mounts works. I might even cover the mounts with felt so they press against the pickups. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, after just a rough truss rod adjustment, it is playing quite well with low action and little to no string buzzing, despite the terrible state of the strings. I think it will be great with the full set up and a decent clean of everything. The pickups sound fine to me, string balance is good and the tone is warm and mellow. All I've done is play it direct into the audio interface without any amp, just dry and I don't object to the tone, again considering it hasn't even been set up yet and the bad strings, the signs are excellent. So all there is to do is to come up with a solution to the pickup buzz and then see if the bridge is glued and what to do about that. Then with a decent setup and new strings, I think it will sound fantastic. Then adding the pedals and/or VST amp wooo.... I'm not going to mod this one, just get it up to spec and see what's what. I don't know what strings to get it, straight nickle roundwounds or flatwounds or half roundwounds etc. will have to check that out.

  11. Hello! I am using Cakewalk for a long time, basically for orchestral mock-ups with vst instruments. So, I use a lot of midi/instrument tracks. Bellow is a small list of things I find to be cumbersome to work with in Cakewalk. 1) The "Number of Tracks/Track Pairs to Create" field at the "Insert Soft Synth Options", is broken. When trying to input a new number (with Max Available un-ticked), the order of the numbers you type in is being put backwards. It's difficult to explain, just try it out and try to change the number of tracks a few times. 2) When duplicating an instrument track (let's say a Kontakt track), Cakewalk is creating a new synth instance of Kontakt with all of the patches that the previous instance had. This is most of the time not desired. An empty instance would have been more appropriate. This was the default way of duplicating instrument tracks some versions of the software ago. 3) Make the way of navigation the same on all views that it's appropriate. For example, the PRV and Tempo View do not use the same mouse and keyboard combinations. 4) I can't find a way to zoom in/out vertically with the mouse wheel and keyboard modifier key. Take a hint from Studio One's navigation methods. 5) I find it super annoying that there is not a way to rename a track at the PRV!!! Double clicking on the name of the track should allow renaming it, like it does on the Track view and the Console view! 6) It could be nice if the CC lanes on the PRV had the ability to have different heights. Sometimes you need to see them all but have more space on some than others. 7) Also, the order of appearance of the CC lanes on PRV is changing all the time when selecting multiple tracks with same or different CCs. Ideally one could arrange the order permanently or the software could display them in acceding order by default. 8 ) Nowadays, a lot of instruments have advanced legato engines that need some time pre-roll in order to be in-sync with the beat (for example the Cinematic Studio Series). Cakewalk has time compensation values only in ticks, not in milliseconds. This could also affect and break some Kontakt scripts that automatically manage different legato transition speeds but need to take into account the time pre-roll time in milliseconds. 9) I might be on my own here, but I preferred the previous way of deselecting notes on the PRV by right clicking on any CC lane. Now, most of the time when I work fast, instead of deselecting the notes by left clicking on the notes area, I am ending up creating new ones. I will really appreciate if any of the above could be thought and be looked at. Thank you in advance! Elias

  17. Those couple paragraphs at the top of the forum we all skip over ... the details are in there. 😁 And it appears to have been updated recently. fwiw I see nothing wrong with anything that's been posted since I started hanging out here again. I haven't even seen a single post by anyone that has upset me in the least. I do know it's coming from above the mods and they have nothing to do with it. I'm just happy to be alive and here with like minded folks. If they want it strictly music related I'm ok with that but there are ways around it. For example start a Humble Pie thread and post a vid. Then go off with the pie pics. I'd consider myself lucky (special?) that a couple of the huge OT threads are still there based off what I've seen happening lately and the updated TOS. I still can't believe my thread with the pic of a stupid box with a clown on it got axed. LOL. How much pull do the clownies have? They're like .0000002% of the population. What are they gonna do retaliate by spritzing us in the eye with seltzer water? Nail us with a hand buzzer? Make an anatomically incorrect balloon animal? Clowngate 2021.

  25. It would be nice to have an option of inserting negative bars (as -2 ,-1, 0, 1, 2 ect). I believe Qubase has this functionality. I don't know if anyone else would like to see this happen on Cakewalk. Normally I just start my song at bar 2 or 3, but that does not reflect reality (bar 1 actually being bar 1). This has been brought up before in the old Sonar forums - don't know whatever became of it. Thanks, Syphus

  26. Hello CW friends! Today is a special day for me, so I thought I'd post a song that I wrote in honor of my parents whose anniversary is today. I wrote the song several months ago but hadn't posted it yet. It marks my first use of EZ Keys, which has been a boon for me in learning to play keyboards better. It's my version of Texas roadhouse blues and can be found here: https://soundclick.com/r/s8ectf As always, it's all done in CW using S-Gear for guitars and Superior Drummer 3 for drums. Always looking for suggestions, and thanks in advance for your time and help! 03/23/21: I've taken your suggestions and remixed this, and it does sound better to my ears. I brought the guitar and piano closer together (from 75 L & R to 65) because I noticed on headphones that it seemed wider than I remembered. Also, I tamed the hihat in the first verse a little, but otherwise, that's all. If anyone else has an idea, it only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish to change, including all uploads. Many thanks to all who've contributed, and I think it's improved.

  32. That would make sense. It reminds me that I've previously had issues with Komplete Kontrol with Ableton Live too. I seem to remember I discovered some kind of bug whereby KK can mis-declare the size of the parameter block that gets saved, and that I found some workaround that involved toggling KK's FX chain window on/off and re-saving. Thanks, you've pointed me in the right direction, I think.

  36. This reminds me of a thread in the old Cakewalk forum where a particular sound library made for UVI Workstation by a third-party vendor was found to increase the .cwp file size with some 13MB for each instance of that library loaded into UVI Workstation. It might indicate that there's a specific plug-in or library in your affected projects that make the size of the project increase the way it does. Maybe you can create a new project and add the plug-ins and/or libraries that you have in one of your affected projects one by one, save and then check the file size until you have possibly found a suspect? Below is a link to the thread I mentioned. http://forum.cakewalk.com/Acousticsamples-Sunbird-problem-Slow-saving-huge-project-file-size-m3664773.aspx

  46. SM 2.9.9 has animated the envelopes, wavetable, modulated knobs, etc, so you can see them in action now. That is a strong point with Vital. I have both of them. If you try out SM, make sure to use one of the new sT (satYatunes) skins. I prefer the Tranquil Blue XT skin, but it's also available in Dark and White, with scales from 100% - 200%. The older factory skins are still available for compatibility, but are no longer maintained in the latest versions, and may have some glitches that will never be fixed. The reason for this per the dev is that some GUI programming changes were needed to keep up with the latest Mac OS compatibility, so no going back. Use the newer skins!
