  1. Jeeeeez, you guys got me all excited. Subspace is not new. I installed the last update in June of 2019. Wasn't overly impressed by it back then either. This is like finding out that your hot blind date is your sister using an alias. Going to go take a cold shower...

  3. Urban Myth (as yet proven or unproven) is that DSOTM was written to sync to The Wizard of Oz movie. @garybrun In 20 years or so whatever music floated your boat some young turk will chime in and say the same thing. I've got 11 years on you as I tuned 68 yesterday, so from The Beatles (they landed in NY on my birthday 1964) on through the '70s all rock music is pretty much king with me. My son, an accomplished musician, composer and arranger, is 46 and to this day still doesn't 'get' The Beatles. He says "they're ok". I still love him anyway.

  8. Check out the G&L headstock on this Ascari GTS tri-bucker (GC/MF exclusive). It's a Leo Fender design, never used, discovered after his death. His only opposing headstock.

  13. Welcome to the forum. What is your sound card or audio interface? If using the sound card of your computer, there is a setting that is often the default, called Stereo Mix or What You Hear which feeds all output back into the input, thus getting everything you hear recorded on all tracks. If that's the case, disable that setting. I believe some audio interfaces may have a similar setting, "Loop Back" or some such name.

  15. I played with the plugin a bit and the reverbs are okay. I wouldn't say they are better than the ones I get from Valhalla Supermassive or Dragonfly Reverb, but there's probably a use for them somewhere.

  16. If you like Voice of Wind libraries, I can knock one up for you. I had chilli last night and a curry the night before, so just need to record the samples. I can offer a few different articulations such as legato, fortissimo and a number of staccato round robins.

  17. The only thing that will go wrong is your system will see which stick has the slowest CAS latency, timings and clock speed, then set all the others to that. The vast majority of modern sample libraries make use of disk streaming due to the very large file sizes on samples. In many instances, having a fast hard disk or SSD yields more benefits.

  21. Very good video Mike. I did not realize one Matrix View could hold a mixture of midi patterns and audio loops. As a side note, I also didn't know Studio Instrument midi patterns could be copied by dragging straight into a Matrix View cell or into a track.

  23. Hello guys. I just recently finished making my own theme for my projects. I would like to share this because someone asked if I could post it, if I will make one. The base UI for this theme is from the FLAT_WHITE theme. Thanks to @Colin Nicholls for making it. @chris.r Not completely inspected for overlooked color assignments. There are some few drawbacks for the colors selected but I believe this works for my workflow. Merry Christmas everyone. 24. This is a track I recorded live in 2016 which I have come back to and remixed. I have left some of the plosives in... I believe it gives it more of that live sound. Is the tube chain giving too much distortion? Thanks for taking the time to listen.

  25. The last cover I did was "Spaceman". Even though this one is not made with Cakewalk like the last one was, it is in the same "space" theme, so I hope you might take a minute (or 4) to take a listen to this. This is a cover tune from a band called "The Tories" called "Spaceships in the Sky". I did a brief writeup on my blog along with the audio as well. I hope you'll give it a listen: https://blades.technology/music/songs/spaceships-in-the-sky

  30. DSOTM - wouldn´t surprise me a lot of it´s true. A bit late but I hope you had a really great and merry Bapday, oh go on celebrate for at least a week - you deserve it Bapu! Anywho: My thoughts on explaining old "classics" to people who haven´t heard it or don´t get what´s so great about it is kind of "you had to be there at the time", i.e. put it in perspective of what other music (& in some cases what was going on i society) was around at the time it came out. When people are talking about 70´s music they´re usually referring to Led Zep Orchestra , Deep Purple, Boney M etc. - what I remember actually hearing on swedish radio though was old folks music, primarily jazz and folk music on fiddle and accordion with maybe 4-5 hours of what was modern music at the time thrown in on late friday nights or saturday afternoon. Imagine the contrast between slow accordion jazz and Jimi Hendrix´ Fuzzfaced strat and the impact it had on (at the time🙄) tiny me. I remember seeing on the news that he had died and how cool I thought he looked with the strat, I was a 6 year old runt at the time but he made a lasting impression.

  33. If I thought the free versions on the market were just as good I can assure you I wouldn't have purchased doubles of each product (due to single seat ilok liscencing that I'm a major critic of). Plenty of info out there on them. They didn't get a whole lot of market presence as they were prohibitivly expensive until the last couple years where they saw major sales. Only the rich can afford a single seat $300 stereo reverb (the surround is even more). And they also were first released under a new brand until Izotope bought them, though headed up by one of the most well respected Reverb experts in the world. They make some of the most respected Reverbs on the market, no question about it - just becuase you haven't done any research at all doesn't discredit those that have. https://tapeop.com/reviews/gear/103/r2-stereo-reverb-plug-in/ https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/exponential-audio-phoenixverb-r2 https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/exponential-audio-r4 https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/exponential-audio-r4 https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/logic-pro-expert/logic-pro-blog/2017/03/10/review-exponential-audio-r4.html https://www.gearslutz.com/board/product-alerts-older-than-2-months/1141701-exponential-audio-r4.html https://visualsproducer.wordpress.com/2019/05/05/exponential-audio-reverb-bundle-first-impressions/

  37. I agree with Ed. For my needs, ST4 is more than I could hope for. Never thought I would have this many quality sounds at my disposal. Like ED, I really like the organ sounds. Really nice. If you can get ST4 in one of the sales they have and you don't pay the full retail price you really can't go wrong with it.

  38. I have ST4-Max and the amount of content you get is well worth it. I can't comment on the ST4 version. If you can swing the extra few dollars it is well worth the Max version IMHO. Here is the list of sounds included https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/include/st4/soundlist/SampleTank_4_MAX_Instruments.pdf Is there any that stand out. I like the Alan Parson Piano myself. The organs are nice too. Problem I got the Hammond Organ and use that one more now. Nice thing with ST4 it is a great bread-n-butter type workstation.

  45. Ok...someone has suggested this so I'm going to float the idea here... If we don't hear from Terry by the beginning of February then we donate the money to a charity in Terry's name (Like St. Judes, etc...) I don't know his last name so it would be donated under the name "Terry Musical" if we can't find his real last name. It's just a thought and I'd like to hear what others have to say about it Let me know what you guys think! If not, and you'd prefer a refund, then PM me that info and I'll make a note of it, and issue a refund sometime the first week of February...and that's only if we haven't heard from him by that time.

  46. Actually, the Quicktime .mov works well with the "Media Foundation" video engine. However, changing the starting point is impossible and the entry points and operate in an approximate manner. You have to fall back on the old video engine, much less powerful, but which allows a better handling of .avi files. (mjpeg, DV and a series of old, mostly obsolete codecs) The only way to get around the problem is to use an application like VidPlayMTC or a second computer and do the synchronization by midi timecode. However this slows down the production process, especially when you need to synchronize sound elements at specific sync points. An integration of a better video player would be highly appreciated. However, Cakewalk is a fantastic creative tool and the multiple updates show that it is powered by a dynamic and energetic team. !

  47. Thanks for the reply. I did see this thread first, and tried the various suggestions. Nothing worked. And not to put too fine a point on it, but it's not just a limitation of the Media Foundation engine. Cakewalk (now Bandlab) has chosen to use this engine in spite of its limitations. I know other DAWs that work in Windows don't have the same limitation (i.e. Cubase). So I consider this a limitation of Cakewalk. I don't care what engine they use. I just expect it to work. 😕 I don't mean to sound cynical. I've been using Cakewalk since version 2.0 for DOS (read: a very long time). It is far and away my favorite DAW, and I'd much prefer to do everything in Cakewalk. That's largely why this little quirk is so frustrating to me.
