  3. I LOVE that you can now resize Waves plugins and I think they look great! It also appears that there is one waveshell file for v12 instead of a half a dozen. So far, this update is a win for me.

  4. I see a drop down with a choice of V10, V11, and V12 in the new Wave Central. V9 is still the crazy extra thing.

  6. My main WUP was expiring Oct 28th, so I just got in on this, which I guess is good because I wasn't planning to re-WUP (at least not without a good reason). It seems clear now that Waves has changed their update model. That long period (many years) of v9 minor updates without a major version change is gone, replaced with almost clockwork yearly major version updates. I guess this is one of the costs to the $29 plugin model.

  11. LOL. You're reading to much in what is being said. You don't touch anything under the "Sync and Caching" TAB. ONLY IN DRIVER SETTINGS TAB. Here's mine Picture 1: Only set these settings to taste. Picture 2: Don't change anything here as what was said to you and what's explained in the Documentation. Also make sure that you choose your hardware driver (Should be ASIO) under the "Playback and Recording Tab."

  12. Maybe the v13 WUP will include important and ground-breaking features such as Readable text at more zoom sizes, e.g. 75% Clearer graphics at larger zoom sizes

  13. A lot of you might have considered buying BIAB, but didn't know exactly what it was or how they might use it. Most musicians see Band in a Box as software that should only be used for accompaniment. It's great for singers or solo instrumentalists, but not for using in compositions. While many people are fine with employing drum programs, guitar programs, EZKeys, etc to make their music, BIAB is a bridge too far because it does EVERYTHING. One button push and there is an entire arrangement, fully mixed. It bypasses the myriad choices you make when you use and combine various kinds of software. I'm basically in agreement with that, but I use the arrangements I generate with BIAB to help me make my songs better. This video shows how I take a simple song and develop it using BIAB. Also, it's expensive and there are a lot of versions, plus add-ons like Xtra Paks. So it's a little complicated for a noob to figure out what they need to buy. I talked about that in the video and it didn't fit, so I made a separate video about that. It mentions that there are sales when the new versions come out, which means PC at the end of the year and Mac in the Spring.

  14. On my windows machine the resizing of one test (Abbey Road Chambers) was great. 200% was nearly crystal clear. 75% was too small (DUH!). This was in Studio One Pro V5. In CbB 200% was ever so slightly fuzzy, but workable for me.

  15. You have to assign the controller. Click the 'MIDI' button next to the MIDI diode on the bar below then 'control change' tab and click ADD. Then you have to find the Leslie that you have loaded and pick it's 'Speed'. Next click Learn button and move your controller. It should work now assuming you have enabled the controller in the preferences first. Edit: apparently I can't find it under Control Change>Global tab, must use the Project tab unless I'm missing something too. It is convoluted, have to admit.

  21. We recorded a Spieluhr. We send it thru an old Uher Tape Machine. We like bad puns. We created a Spieluher. It contains options to control length, tone and a LoFi effect. Additionally you can activate an ensemble function, distortion, delay and reverb. FREE https://klang.cologne/klang_taped.php#zwei

  23. My bad. I wrongly assumed that in order to change the buffer size you needed to enable caching. Clearly you can change the buffer size without that. I noticed that playback was double (512 KB) the size of the record (256 KB) buffer size. Is that standard for CbB? Do you know why making them both the same size has a positive effect on latency or is it just by trial and error that you found it to be better?

  24. The 3rd party programs are the best programs IMO. Better sound quality than the Acquas just more cpu & work involved since it's per instance.

  25. yeah, there are a lot of challenges to versioning... (ignore the DAW specific bits) http://www2.grammy.com/PDFs/Recording_Academy/Producers_And_Engineers/PTGuidelines.pdf https://www.grammy.com/sites/com/files/delivery_recommendations_for_recorded_music_projects_final_09_27_18.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(music) https://musicbiz.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/MusicMetadataStyleGuide-MusicBiz-FINAL2.0.pdf https://www.grammy.com/sites/com/files/folder_definitions.pdf couple more: https://www2.grammy.com/PDFs/Recording_Academy/Producers_And_Engineers/DAWGuidelineShort.pdf http://aesnashville.org/PDFs/NARAS/DAWGuidelines-OneSheets_v1.pdf https://www.waves.com/ways-to-better-organize-your-daw-mixing-sessions tracking worksheet: http://aesnashville.org/PDFs/NARAS/Session-Doc.pdf you practically need someone acting as a librarian and archivist to manage this 🙂 just in case all the engineering and creative duties aren't enough 😉 that said, i think in these links are some really decent ideas which if condensed for the "small guy", could be useful and made consistent enough for a broad base of people to collaborate without going nuts (or too late for that? lol)

  26. The way the Tracks Pane works right now, a left-click is required, and the mouse cursor must be over the control to change it. In the Tracks Pane, if you forget to click the control you want to change, and you hover the mouse over it and move the mouse wheel, nothing will happen. But at least it doesn't change the wrong control. Some people will prefer to just move the mouse over the control and not have to left-click it before using the mouse wheel. Maybe the best thing to do is make this the default for both the Tracks Pane and Console Pane, and add a settable option to require a left-click first. The Tracks Pane and Console Pane would then be consistent. Right now, a left-click is required in the Tracks Pane, but not in the Console Pane.

  27. Who doesn't enjoy a nice flat white in the morning? I know I do. It's about the only type of espresso coffee drink I can make on my machine. However this theme doesn't really have anything to do with coffee, except maybe if you look at the "select/focus/OLED" displays and say, yeah, I have a desire to lick the crema out of an espresso cup right about now... I've been chasing the goal of the perfect non-3D "light" theme for some time and this is my latest effort. I want a theme that is clear, un-distracting. If you don't like grey, this probably isn't the theme for you. FLAT_WHITE.ZIP Previews: Updated 2021.12: refreshed Folder Archive button

  30. Hmm, just noticed something new in the TaskManager with V12: WavesLocalServer.exe. It's a background process that uses ~125MB of memory, loads when my DAW starts (Cubase), and stays loaded even after quitting Cubase. I don't like that! I wonder if it's for telemetry purposes (and if it can be disabled).

  31. Waves V12 show up for me, but the V10 that I had been using are not showing up in Waves Central. Perhaps there was a way to update to V12, but also keep all the V10 installed as well for older projects? I don't remember seeing that as an option, but I do see Waves has now installed all of the aaxplugin versions! Arghh sometimes I say to meself!

  32. Yes tracks can be hidden. Look in track manager it lists all the tracks and their status. If there are hidden tracks the track numbers stay the same like if track 1 is hidden the first track you see in track view will be track 2.

  33. My 10 year old RME PCIe at 96kHz, 24bit and 64 sample buffers gives me an effective latency of 0.7 ms and roundtrip of 3.4 ms I always wondered which one is the one you need to look at: roundtrip or effective latency? (I thought the latter when you're recording e.g. a vocal) However, I never felt that CbB was very stable at those settings, to be on the safe side I use 256 sample buffers (effective latency of 2.7 ms and roundtrip of 7.4 ms .

  36. So what was the point trying to "correct" what I said, if you're jut gonna repeat it in different words. Just like buffer size "Direct Monitor" also has an affect on certain machines with latency. I had the problem with a laptop I was using on the road. It was an i5 4th gen if i'm correct - if not older, with a standard 500GB HDD, 8GB ram with Windows 10 (Can't remember which build,) My Solo gave me latency with direct monitoring on. Yes, you're spot on on few things you've mentioned, but I think it was time wasted. Until we know the specs of the system and hardware used by Konskoo, there's no way to claim an answer. Right now, you have to assume that he is using "Asio4all." Different setups, totally different problems and approach on latency. Before the interface and a upgrade on the laptop (with a group that hired me everytime the went on tour,) I ran a successful on-the-road setup for demo projects, with only a USB midi, USB Mic, with the laptops onboard recording interface to record guitars, a pair of Alesis 3 monitors; using Cakewalk Sonar LE and only ASIO4ALL, with the buffer size set to 1024msec and Playback buffer at 256KB and guess what? NO LATENCY.

If your main interest is piano, and you still need a keyboard controller, here is an inexpensive one with 88 keys (although not fully weighted) that comes with a free software bundle that includes Arturia Analog Lab (with 6500 sounds, sourced from Arturia's analog modeled V collection), which has a modeled virtual piano in grand and upright styles, as well as UVI's Model D (Steinway Concert Grand Model D captured in a brilliant European sound stage), that plays in UVI Workstation (free). https://www.uvi.net/model-d.html https://www.arturia.com/products/hybrid-synths/keylab-essential-88/overview

  44. I have occasionally gone back and listened to your original version over the past year, it is a very inspiring composition and excellent tribute. For that reason am kind of partial to the original version. I think the brighter sound of the new version may be contributing to that, not sure if it is the newer instrumentation or if you have EQ'd brighter, etc... I guess to my ears the original version sounds like it is all together in a single space where the updated version doesn't have that feel of common space as much. Would maybe consider a darker common reverb for the updated version. Regards

  45. Some of the third party libraries are really good. I really like Timp. He's been running a 20% off sale which makes his stuff very reasonably priced. He also offers all his libraries in 44/48/88/94KHZ which I find helpful. AlexB's stuff is excellent as well, but a tad more expensive. Hidden symmetry posted a link to azzimov's skins, which are exceptional and well worth a look.

  47. Bill , Nice clean groove and as usual your guitar work is Excellent! I think if you doubled some of the keyboard lines with a clean toned guitar it would really boost this one. The lead guitar tone you had on the last song you posted would work great on this one Enjoyed it ... mark
