  1. You could just get another license. You'd have no problem selling it on kvr once the sale is over for $20.02. At decimal points no one could accuse you of profiteering, but you'd tilt the balance one penny on the side of happy.

  2. I bought True Iron for $20 on Sep 6, 2020... 😱 That I could have waited 5 weeks and saved a penny is really binding my shorts 🤬 I'm so distraught I'm going to click on Submit Reply, crawl under my desk and just soak the floor with my tears of frustration and disappointment while I rage at what use I might have made from my savings if I had known. 😭

  4. IK Multimedia is proud to unveil “Joe Satriani’s AmpliTube Shifting Song,” an original song written and recorded by the world-renowned guitarist himself that offers a unique retrospective of the many aspirational tones that span his full career. Joe Satriani performed all of the guitar and keyboard parts in the song. He recorded all of the guitar parts using the AmpliTube Joe Satriani collection. Everyone is invited to listen to the song for free, and even try shredding along! Listen here. Owners of AmpliTube Joe Satriani can also explore the settings used on the song. Satriani shares his inspiration and gear set up for the new song: “I had so much fun exploring my legacy tones and techniques on this musical trip down memory lane. It was all done with IK Multimedia’s AmpliTube Joe Satriani Collection software suite!" Available for Mac/PC, iPhone and iPad, and able to work both as a desktop app and plug-in for any DAW, AmpliTube Joe Satriani offers users instant access to play, practice and record using precise models of the guitarist’s amps and pedals that were created with Satriani himself. It reflects the guitarist’s reputation as a tone and gear connoisseur by featuring models of both classic and artist signature pieces, along with some fan favorites. Each model was created to Satriani’s exact specifications, for an authentic user experience. Learn more about AmpliTube Joe Satriani here.

  8. I did a side-by-side comparison just last night, after a friend turned me onto Skaka. I had a project that needed some simple percussion, just shakers and tambourine Shimmer Shake Strike has been my go-to for hand percussion since it came out, but it's a quirky beast that often requires an inordinate amount of tweaking before it does what I want it to do. I thought Skaka might be a simpler quick-n-dirty alternative. Well, it is and it isn't. Skaka is indeed pretty simple to use and cheaper - way cheaper if you count SSS's Kontakt prerequisite. But there is always a price for simplicity. The two products are not interchangeable; their only real similarity is that they both do sequenced hand percussion. SSS has better-sounding samples, many more instruments, finer control, more rhythmic variation and more automation options. But Skaka is slightly quicker to set up and supports up to 12 instruments at once (SSS does only 3 at once). In the end I decided Skaka wasn't a waste of $25 and threw it into the toolbox along with the dozen other hand-percussion instruments I've collected over the years. But in my comparison test, SSS was the clear winner and that's the one that will stay in the song.

  9. Another laugh thanks ... Wonder what this we sound like back in the day if John / Paul did it ..cause apart from the fade out that's a ringer ... We been locked for what seems a lifetime as the wife was in hospital for 6 months last year with AML and now it starts all over again (Not the AML thank God ... the lock-down) ... and just because your a F/G songwriter I thought you might like to know when she came into the studio, we both had one of them pensive laughs you have one someone has nailed it ! Thanks Daryl S

  10. Incredible clarity and separation. Sometimes I can't help a feeling that it sounds very digital, but in a good way - precise and clean. Thanks for sharing it!

  11. I now have both and while Shimmer is great Skaka is simpler to use, mostly because Kontakt is a clunky platform from an interface perspective. The built-in sequencer is more flexible and powerful than Shimmer Shake, so the only real advantage is the larger library that comes with the latter. One thing that put me off slightly was that you can´t combine single shots with shaken sounds in the same cell, but you have 12 cells at your disposal so it´s not a big deal. Both get the job done anyway, but at $24.99 you can´t go wrong with this.

  12. @John Maar - Ha! I've had the Dim Pro Expansion Packs installed for years, but I never noticed the Virtual B3, since there is a whole "Organ" section listed in the presets. As a non-keyboard player, my organ needs are meager, and these sounds are more than adequate for me. Thanks for the tip!

  13. The deals forum isn't the best for this (you might want to open a thread in Instruments & Effects). In order to be able to send MIDI to the MIDI Chorus plugin you have to enable MIDI Input to it using the drop down above the plugin in Cakewalk So basically put it on a audio track. Enable the MIDI input. Add a MIDI track and route it to the MIDI Choir (which will now be a choice in the MIDI track's output drop down).

  19. I know most veterans here already know this. I made a video for a violin forum to show them how to convert a recorded track. I am posting this here for newbs. You don't really need to make a separate midi track. I mainly do this so I have a spare midi always on hand to work with. As you will hear, the track is pretty badly recorded and the conversion still picked up over 95% of the notes accurately. The rest could be edited in midi for correction. For anyone who needs to convert to notation, this is WAY easier than typing in entire scores to a notation program if you can play fairly accurately. If you know of alternate ways to do this or shortcuts to the process please chime in. Thanks.

  28. Grats, @Peter - IK Multimedia. It is great idea to encourage people. Usual way of marketing/advertising videos always sounds great from almost any manufacturers but leaves the question how it translates to exact real sound. But often some experience is required to get good tone and tone depends on few things, signal level including... In fact showing every single detail how to setup, what exactly is used would be nice way to confirm value of a new product. Especially for people who want to demo it but can do it in not best way and getting results which can discourage them against buy. I can remember when I was testing one of PA amp sim after its release I got terrible impression but discovered later on I was driving it too much with signal level. With lower level of input actually it sounded very nice at clean tone. Etc...

  32. I like Prime. I usually buy enough that the free shipping is worth it. I also do a bunch of subscribe and save stuff from them. Mostly pet stuff. And Nespresso pods because no one sells them in my area. Buying food from Amazon is hit and miss, so I've mostly given up. And frankly, since the only place to get a lot of things around here is Walmart, I have no problem going to Amazon. 23 check out lines and only 3 are ever open, 2 of which are 15 items or less. Of course, after all this current mess is done, who knows what will still be open. I did a quick look at Prime day sales items. I would like another 6TB 7200 rpm drive, but I didn't see any with good prices. Prices are still high for me on the 2 and 4 TB SSD's, so I'll probably wait.

  37. DAWs are like cars. All cars have engines, wheels, a body, brakes, and doors, and can accelerate or decelerate. But you can choose from sports cars, vans, 2-door sedans, 4-door sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs, luxury cars, etc. You choose a car based on what you need to do with it, and (hopefully) you choose a DAW the same way. I also feel that just as some people have more than one car, it often makes sense to have more than one DAW to handle different needs.

  39. Just a few years ago when Cakewalk by Bandlab was still Sonar the reviews were raving, see Sonar reviews, for example. At that time the cost for the DAW were comparable to the other top paid DAWs like Cubase and Pro Tools. CbB is leaning on decades of professional development. There was a delay in development when Gibson ended Sonar, before CbB was well established, but ever since the development has been going really well, ironing out old bugs and introducing new highly desired features. Any DAW has its own advantages as well as bugs, so having a particular bug in CbB does not mean that switching to another DAW will relieve you from all bugs, just look at other forums and you'll see many bug or other problems all over the place. It is just very hard to make a program that is compatible with a virtually unlimited number of hardware and software configurations and on top of that comforts everyone's personal workflow and options wishes. I would say today it is one of the best DAWs compared to all other DAWS (both paid and free). This year CbB was again ranked in the top ten best DAWS with as main downside just that it is Windows only... In the mean time many other new features and bug fixes have been introduced, so the future just looks good! When you notice the feedback from the bakers, who in general listen and respond quite well on this forum (as well as the often excellent feedback from users when you have a problem, which has helped me out many times) it just seems like CbB is thriving. Regarding professionality and options you can't go wrong with CbB. You get at top priced DAW for free (why that is possible is covered elsewhere on this forum) However, like Lord Tim said the best DAW is the one that works best for you.
