What is "best" ? For me, yeah - absolutely it's the best. But I've been well locked in with the Cakewalk ecosystem for years, it does what I want and it's super solid for me. There's obviously things I'd love to see added and various bugs/shortcomings that I'd love to see addressed, like we all want to see, but for me it's the best. On the other hand, ask on, say, the Tracktion forums and I bet you get a very different answer. The best DAW is the one that lets you get the job done the fastest and easiest, no matter which one it is. That's really it.4 points

It looks like exporting from a surround bus (when category is set to buses) broke sometime in an early SONAR version. We'll fix it. For now export the "surround main" by setting source category to hardware outputs or entire mix. There is no requirement to actually have multiple hardware outputs.3 points

For me, chocolate ice-cream is the best. If you ask my my wife, she would disagree. She thinks pistachio ice-cream is the best. My daughter on the other hand thinks cookies and cream is the best ice-cream.3 points

Looking at how fast the Bakers have gotten to squashing a lot of the legacy bugs lately, it's definitely worth opening up a ticket and reporting this and seeing if you can get to the bottom of it. You only need to have a quick scan over the forums to see Noel, Jon and Mark hopping into threads or even starting remote sessions with people to sort out a problem. If you ask me, the strongest thing that we have here that most other DAWs don't have, let alone free ones, is the active dev team. Honestly though, taking personal preference and workflow out of it (which I still think is the most important thing for choosing your DAW), feature for feature plus the hands-on dev presence here, I don't reckon anything else touches CbB these days. But definitely report your issue!3 points

Yeah it’s great. I’m still awed by this free Klon plug-in emu. Not many people talking about it but working really well for me on a couple of tracks, using it instead of The Scream by cytomic as that’s been causing CPU overload: https://github.com/jatinchowdhury18/KlonCentaur/releases2 points

2 hours later. It is official: Dr Drive is the best free overdrive pedal plugin. (and not beacuse it is free)2 points

Just leave ST3 installed and don't re-install the libraries again, just because they are included in ST4 MAX. The ST3 libraries in the ST3 content folder can be added to a separate path in ST4. My setup is like this: D:\SampleTank 3 (contains all ST3 libraries, Syntronik, Miroslav, and ST3 sound expansions such as Neil Peart Drums, Alan Parson's Imperial Grand, etc). D:\SampleTank 4 (contains all ST4 libraries and ST4 based expansions such as SpacePort 77, Clavitubes)2 points

I got this from splice and when I logged in to my ableton account to register it, there was a notice "Good news, a license for the latest version of Live Lite has been added to your account" For other people like me, getting this in order to get a free upgrade from a previous version (e.g., one that came bundled with hardware) - Check your account first, you may not need to get anything from splice2 points

The pre-order price for the upgrade to ST4 MAX from ST3 was $199 in Dec 2018. I got in for $141 with $59 JamPoints on the pre-order.2 points

I was never able to get over how horrid the interface looked. I recently got a copy of this included with my ATOM and it did not stay on my machine long. I know Live has great capabilities but I was never able to mesh with it.2 points

The real power of Sampletank 4 is in the edit screen........ especially for those sounds that specifically use the version 4 engine.2 points

You can go on their forum and you will find discussion threads about VST3 support. In short, they are working on it, but no time frame is given. But they say it is at the top of their priority list. My opinion: VST3 is a really important feature, especially since the likes of Melodyne is VST3 only, and it probably will hurt sales if not added asap. That said, if you like a workflow similar to an analog console, I certainly do, Mixbus is a very nice DAW to work with and sounds great! For 19$, it's a steal!2 points

@Andres Medina I was finally able to get Syncron installed and have reproduced and fixed the crash issue. Thanks for reporting this! The problem is actually not related to Syncron at all and I am able to reproduce it with any VST3 plugin. (The issue occurs with any VST but is easier to reproduce with a VST3) The fix will be in our next release.2 points

Just a heads-up. That's next Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm just letting everybody know in case they are shopping for a controller, SSDs, RAM, a Streamdeck, or whatever. There may be deals. Of course there may be better deals on BF and Cyber Monday.1 point

Something that just sorted materialised and then would not go away. In Circles Custom Built Les Paul through Guitar Rig 5 Pro (no not 6 yet might might not) and an Arturia FX you would use Phaser. Yes I have done the same as abacab. Have sound content for ST3 in one folder and for ST4 in another folder. I also installed ALL of my ST2 and 2.5 stuff then imported it into ST3. Now it can be used in ST4. And as far as I can see and make out, IKPM doesn't do this.1 point

thanks! my "vocalist" is there as the antagonist, so she can sing out of key and make people uncomfortable even if she's a vocal snippet! LOL thanks to all on the feedback, like the green goblin, i took it back to formula to get the levels adjusted...1 point

If I were the mixer, I think I'd start the next mix by dropping the Dim Pro vocals - not really working for me. Press that mute button and it's already better.1 point
