  4. FWIW I still use SoundFonts regularly. I sampled all the patches I use from my old hardware synths, and I chose SF2 as my preferred format for 2 reasons: 1. My soundfont player (SampleLord) is way more CPU friendly than Kontakt / Dimensions / Rapture Pro... PLUS I can use SampleLord on my V-Machine. 2. SF2 files are easier to manage, as they're one file vs 10's or 100's (in the case of sfz). At the end of the day, SoundFont is just a file format - it's no worse or better than any other format. Sure, there are advantages to some formats over others (e.g. release samples), but for me that's not an issue. If I export my samples as .nki, they sound exactly the same in Kontakt as they do as a sf2 in SampleLord.

  12. Just as the title says. You can rename any type of track from the Console View by double clicking on the name field. Is should be the same for midi tracks when working in PRV. Please consider it, Thank you!

  14. I posted this issue here about problems when write automating envelopes using a control surface and getting a smooth envelope: It would be great to have the option to select a default envelope node style when recording write automation (e.g. jump/linear/fast curve/slow curve). Or at least to be able to highlight multiple envelope nodes and bulk change them all to a certain type. At present it's almost not worth using a control surface for this sort of thing and would make workflow so much easier! It also seems to show there's a bug when you right click to drag select a bunch of nodes and then press delete on the keyboard. It doesn't delete all the nodes you've highlighted and leaves a few behind that you have to right click select again and press delete a 2nd time.

  17. Alt+MouseWheel zoom in Track View isn't working consistently for me. I have the options set to "Zoom Horizontal At Cursor" but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Of course, having written this out and gone back to Cakewalk to make sure I can reproduce, well, now it's working as expected. But i know as soon as I post this and go back to actual work in the Track View, it will happen again. I will report back here if it does.

  20. I may just be missing an obvious way to do this, but it would be great to have a 'preview' option on the metronome setup screen. As it is now, I have to set it to how I think I want it, then start a recording to see if it sounds correct. If I could just click 'preview', adjust, then try it again, that would save a bit of time.

  22. Maybe its just my ears, but I feel like the eq on the master isn't right; maybe a bit more "air" on top and some gentle broad cut 1k-2k maybe? or lower? The rhythm guitar seems to dominate and live in its own space. I'd try and tie it all together a bit more. Just my nickel98, take it with a grain of salt.... tom

  26. It's also worth noting that a fully licensed XLN Addictive Keys is available as a free download in the Focusrite "Plug In Collective" with a choice of one out several different sampled pianos. The Steinway Grand, Modern Upright, Mark One [Rhodes] Electric Pianos etc. can all be purchased separately for expansion. Each one of these Sample Packs has a very large selection of different choices of microphone and preamp setups, what types of mic was used, and various very high quality FX built into it's user interface for detailed editing and setup. Many presets, all editable and fully customizable to your liking. You can even dial in & choose how much "Pedal" noise you want to leak into your piano recordings. It's available for free to all registered users of Focusrite audio interfaces and Novation MIDI keyboard controllers with a choice of 1 free sample pack included Addictive Keys download. I would obviously recommend the "Studio Grand" sample collection for the type of recording you have described, as the Steinway Model D concert grand piano is contained in part of it.

  32. Very creative - the beat has some giddy-up to it - and that lead synth was very wild. Regarding the mix - I thought the bass should come up a bit. Enjoyed the listen - cheers.

  34. It would've been nice if they incorporated Streamliner into Metric AB as a new feature & for an update fee. After getting AB a few years ago I retired all my similar analysis, LUFS & A/B type plugins, wouldn't be without it.

  36. In O9 you have only MP3 and AAC (but nice feature is solo artifacts) and no advance metering (you would need use Insight2), This plugin is providing ready to use profiles for streaming services. Everything seems to be focused on purpose of publishing/comparing While I didn't test it yet, I believe it is must have for anyone who wants to publish music to streaming services.

  38. Well, I tried, I made it to 23 Here are some stats prior to this last effort. 1. 23 songs in 28 days 2. Nearly 900 cakewalk song forum views 3. 78 Soundclick steams. That comes out to 3.3 streams per song. Not bad for a guy like me! 4. I have deleted most of the songs from soundclick page and kept the ones that had some listens. Thanks All! 39. If I had to guess https://www.perforce.com/blog/vcs/what-team-foundation-server Most VC systems don't do much with binary files like CbB project files. The existing versioning built into CbB is how most VC systems handle them - opaque blobs of data.

  41. Physical devices not necessary, as they can be emulated in the box. Their VST plug-in equivalents can do a fine job. However some plug-ins can put a big demand on the CPU. So that is why the question regarding how you intend to use the computer. Otherwise it sounds like your thinking is on track! Good luck with your project!
