Really feel for all you guys affected by wild fires. (Inspired by the beginning part of the locked thread) It’s early spring here while we make our plans, preparing our properties in anticipation of our next round of bush fires here down under in Australia. All due to kick off all too soon. Usually have a reciprocal arrangement with you guys and help one another out with personnel. Not sure what COVID’s done and doing to those plans. I remember too, the sad loss of human life last year, particularly the US flight crew lost over here just helping out. It capped off a terrible bush fire season for us where so many come together from the opposite sides of the earth and our distant areas within our own country to help total strangers. Not strangers for long though as they battle so many unwinnable fires. Take care guys.

Best use that code now. Last time they had this sale, they reset the code for everyone mid-sale, so it could be reused, if I recall correctly.

Release notes for Superior Drummer 3.2.2 2020-09-30 Superior Drummer 3.2.2 is now available to download using the Product Manager or from the ‘My Products’ area in your Toontrack account. Please note that version 3.2.2 is required for the support of Superior Drummer 3 products released from this point forward (Q3 2020). BUG FIXES General Opening projects containing a song block with only CC events as well as opening some projects saved by version 3.1.7 or earlier could cause a crash. Adding a MIDI block to the track, adding an instrument and then turning the Amount knob for that instrument could cause a crash. Fixed a crash that could happen after switching libraries or bouncing in certain hosts (hosts that use a variable block size in audio rendering calls to plug-ins). On Windows, the memory usage counter will no longer start over at zero at 16384 MB. Song Track The preservation of CC bound to macro controls didn’t work when a song block was replaced with another. Edit Play Style Information about Amount having been used to decrease the number of hits for an instrument was not saved in projects. Percussion amounts were not correctly recalled when a project was loaded. Switching library presets having added percussion in Edit Play Style did not preserve those percussion hits.

...today is my last day of work! 🙂 I will finally concentrate on music from now on! My kids: 'Hey dad, you will have plenty of time now!' Me: 'With all I wanna do, I will barely have enough!' Putting overtime in the studio does not feel that bad of an idea though. 😊

Not working a job is not necessarily equivalent to free time. I am amazed at how much I could accomplish in eight hours on the job, and how little I can get done in 24 hours now. Good luck.

Yes that is another way of looking at it. I don't mind iLok as such and still have quite a few bits that use software iLok, it's more about the USB dongle and the fact that you have to buy one of theirs at a high price rather than being able to use a generic USB key. That's also not the end of the expense as you should really have a spare and then there's the ZDT sub.

Don't know of a way to prevent the issue... but it's easy to grab the end of the resultant MIDI clip (with Snap to bar enabled) and drag to the desired bar. The bounced clip ends at that point... because there's no other MIDI data beyond.

Yes, I understand. At its core, Cakewalk has two track types: audio and MIDI. A complete soft synth routing in Cakewalk consists of a MIDI track sending data to the soft synth and and audio track receiving the audio signal from the soft synth. One or more audio effects may be placed into the audio track FX rack or ProChannel. There is a third hybrid track called a simple instrument track. A simple instrument track is a presentation of a MIDI track input section and an audio track output section. It looks like a single track, taking up the same space as a basic audio or MIDI track. In fact, a simple instrument track may be split into its constituent audio and MIDI tracks. Alternately, an audio+MIDI track pair may be merged into an instrument track. When opening a MIDI file using the method I described above, Cakewalk creates MIDI tracks to host the MIDI data routed to an instance of TTS-1 which has its audio output routed to an audio track. Because all the audio is mixed into a single audio stream by TTS-1, I suspect you will want to route some of the audio to different audio track or add additional synths and audio tracks so that different effects may be used on different instruments. If the comment about using MIDI files refers to MIDI loops and not complete MIDI performances, typically MIDI loops are imported into projects where the soft synths and their tracks are already setup. Often the import is done by simply dropping the MIDI clips into instrument or MIDI tracks in the project. Regardless, adding audio effects must happen where audio exists in the DAW, The audio output from a MIDI instrument is either going to be in dedicated audio or simple instrument tracks. Both audio tracks and simple instrument tracks have two places to add audio FX, their audio FX rack and ProChannel. There is also an FX rack in every clip in Cakewalk but lets save that for another discussion.

That's pretty much my attitude as well. I mix for the best stuff I got, which right now are my reference monitors and some good phones. Oh, and I have a update for y'all. My new AKG K240 Studio phones arrived today. So far, I've had the opportunity to listen to two of my compositions, to which I ended up making some fairly substantial changes in the mix. I was hearing rather glaring things with these phones that my old closed-backs had missed entirely. This is good news and bad news. I'm glad I can hear so clearly now, but I was just about to put to bed three albums worth of material, but now it looks like I'm going to have to make at least one more pass through every piece of music before I'll be 100% satisfied -- if that's ever even a possibility. You know, if I had to describe what these phones feel like -- because of their open back design -- it's like I don't have any phones on at all, but that I'm just leaning in real close to my speakers to catch all the subtle nuances. In other words, they sound very natural with no coloration that I can detect -- so far. They're also very light and comfortable, and I think my wife will appreciate the open back designs, cuz now when she calls out my name from across the house, I can hear her. Used to be with my old phones, she'd have to poke me for me to know she wanted something.

Hey @Peter - IK Multimedia, I sincerely appreciate your generous offer! But don't worry about that buck! I took that one, plus many, many more back when I cleaned up at the $199 level for the Group Buy. Would almost feel guilty taking any more! 😁 But seriously, I really think IK has scored big with this new product! I'm really liking it. But not having as much fun yet as Zo!

If you'd PM your IK username I can see if there's anything I can figure out about this. I know it is $1 basically, but I don't like that you expected to use 45 and only got to use 44 JamPoints. I'd like to make it up to you, hopefully with more than $1 worth of something and/or effort at the very least. Just don't tell the folks over at Gearslutz that like to hate on me a bit at the moment. Wouldn't want them thinking I was nice or something.

Ron had owned a large farm in Florida for several years. He had a large pond at the back. It was properly shaped for swimming, so he fixed it up nice with picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some orange and lime trees. One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over. He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit. As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence, and they all went to the deep end. One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming out until you leave!" Ron frowned, "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked." Holding the bucket up Ron said, "I'm here to feed the alligator."

Computers are a house of cards - when one card goes, the whole computer falls over. So many times, the "problem" with a DAW relates to something that has little, if anything, to do with the DAW itself. For example, for several weeks I tried to figure out why Windows was suddenly taking so much longer to boot. Turns out there was a blank CD in an optical drive, and removing it solved the problem. I guess Windows was trying to boot off the CD, which of course must have been a highly unsatisfying experience for the operating system

I had a similar problem once with my Focusrite after upgrading the drivers. Turned out i didn’t have ASIO selected within Cakewalk. On selecting that, then closing and re-opening Cakewalk, all was back to normal. Good luck, J
