  1. I'm not wishing to sound like an excited 10 year old but Please, Please, Pretty Please with A Cherry on Top, add support for animated .png images, you don't even have to update the two themes included with Cakewalk, just add support for users to add them to Themes via the editor and for them to work in Cakewalk. I'm not sure if any other DAW even uses animated png images in it's UI and it would be handy and cool to make certain buttons like Mute, Solo and Record flash or fade. Check out the Track View/Console View 'Record' button I made..... https://imgur.com/tlLyQmq Now, would that not be so cool and maybe useful for a few particular and important buttons??

  5. The Hammond is the only big one that really intrests me. It is probably the best emulation out there, but I don't see it as €199 better than my current options. Plus I can also route those through the T-Racks Leslie to close the gap further. I am still minded to just go for some Syntronic instruments if I do decide to jump in.

  6. First group buy with selection anxiety for me. I’d love the Hammond, Modo Drum and Modo Bass, each of them at $199 value. But what next? Already have SampleTank 4 and other $199 items. Would be nice if IK could spike the deal by adding their new reverb.

  8. Ken, keep in mind some more history that I sort of mentioned and will expand on now. Only for Bandlab rescuing CW from GIBSON ( which was not a match made in heaven at all and was touch and go for a good while in fact, where many CW users had to go looking for other DAWs before the bandlab intervention as Gibson were pretty much going to drop it and effectively bury it forever ) you or I would not be here getting what we previously would have had to pay lots of cash for but are now getting it free. A pro DAW ( Digital Audio Workstation ) for nothing .. which up to a few years ago and since the 90s I paid for. I have no gripes with this, i am just very happy that Bandlab kept CW alive ( and icing on the cake is they are constantly updating it SEPARATE FROM BANDLAB own products ) and I dont begrudge them us using a UTILITY with there own audio platform + cakewalk for that reason. I would say something if they were forcing me to use Bandlabs own audio platform online or changing / morphing CW into there own software ( they are not ) or if they were constantly emailing me and badgering me, they do not. In fact I have not got one single marketing email from them trying to get me to use there other products. Bandlab are not a social media platform, Im not sure where you are getting that idea from. If you look you will find they have an online DAW so to speak where beginners particularly or casual users can drag drop samples online to create tracks online. There is a bit of integration of this into Cakewalk via import if you want, but not compulsory. CW is no longer just for MIDI, but it can be if you want, ignore the rest. The phrase DAW / Digital Audio Workstation years back came to the fore as an expansion on the word Sequencer which generally just meant MIDI only really in the early days. CW now handles recording Audio and / or importing samples to tracks along side your midi tracks. Its the audio samples end that Bandlabs other business is involved with and also as I mentioned, loopcloud. Instead of back in the day having a harddrive full of space eating samples NOW new cloud services are arising like Bandlab and Loopcloud where you can subscribe monthly, yearly and load these samples directly into your DAW from your cloud space where your samples are now stored vs on your Harddrive. Again I find no issue with this, it makes good use of the cloud concept. Another good use of the cloud as is the case with Bandlabs own offering is it allows amateurs and pro's alike to collaborate in the cloud with your tracks IF YOU WISH, so now you are expanding your base of potential partner muso's in a project beyond your own area and all online. SO tbh Ken ... your issues noted, its still back to your choice whether to use CW in its present form or not, it was either that OR cakewalk NO MORE. As for many others having an issue with the Bandlab Assistant Utility in general, I would very much doubt that ( people might have functionality issues ok, but Bandlab seem to respond to these ) .. as I said its the new way of doing things and again, personally I have no issue with it, in fact for me it simplifies things .. but hey thats just me!! PS - Not alone did Bandlab rescue Cakewalk out of the fire, they pretty much also kept most of the original crew of developers in work right up to this day. Some of them have responded to your thread if you look at the sigs of the replies

  13. You can set up an account at W.A. themselves and they will send you freebie deals. They also partner up with PB at times. I have a nice cache of W.A. giveaways to my name, along with a couple of deep discounted items and consider them to be a force for good. If you are into off the hook temp sync "creative" FX, lay in wait for the Sphere bundle to go on sale. The compressor is okay, nothing to write home about, covers the various flavors of compression, but oh man SphereQuad and SphereDelay are weirdzballs. Not quite Glitchmachines weirdzballs, but they can surely do odd things to sound.

  16. Similar boat here... I would like get B3 - for sure, maybe interested in MODO drums (although owning lots of alternative - I mean lots... ) but not particularly interested in Syntronics (lack of space and rare use for me, owning ST4). So pretty big investment 199EUR + VAT (!) for in fact 1 VST really wanted by me whatever buy it is called overall...

  19. Big difference tween BEATs and MPC 2 is the LATTER has unlimited tracks ( Beats limited to 8 midi/inst tracks, 2 Audio tracks ). Otherwise they are essentially the same. Maybe the start screen thing will arrive to MPC 2 via an update? I would leave both installed but maybe start using BEATS initially to get into the how it all works, there are lots of new tute vids on youtube for Beats, many are linked here further back the pages. Then when you are happy with how whole thing works maybe then decide on what to keep/remove?

  20. Currently Yes . When I saw the update I happened to be using my Win 7 machine ..I'm still using that right now or my MacBook ....so far so good ... I have a lot to learn about some of the new features Cakewalk introduced in the past 2 updates ....Win 7 is fine especially since I have new things to learn As far as putting Cakewalk on my 3 other Win 10 Lap tops I will get around to it when I do the thing is I am currently pissed off at Microsoft .. The 1903 Win 10 update took all 3 of my Win 10 lap tops and decided to downgrade my DVD drives and turn them into a CD Rom drives ....aaarrrggg I have not found a fix as of yet All 3 of my Win 10 lappy's came w Win 10 HE and factory installed DVD drives when I purchased them and up until that 1903 update I had my Drive working as DVD + all the other formats it was so posed to do .. I do not mean to side track this thread but WTF MAN all 3 of my Win 10 lappy's have Vegas Pro and DVD authoring software on them ....some pricey stuff when you add it all up ... What this means is I have thousands of dollars worth of software I can not currently use until this gets fixed on my end for 3 Win 10 computers ...so F ...U ...M S . I am so sick and tired of having stuff forced on me that I do not want ... I don't care what any one tells me Win 10 does not perform circles around Win 7 in a meaningful way where I am seeing a big difference in performance or my workflow being enhanced over here at my house with what I do .. Please don't take what I'm saying personal if you love computers or if you indeed are a computer guru. I look at it this way when a guitar player sucks playing his 500 dollar guitar they are probably still gonna suck playing a 6 thousand dollar Gibson Historic Les Paul ....LOL It's a 2 way street man I may be that guy too you ...you may be that guy too me ...who gives a fill in the blank ...still bound by music and the love of making music so it's all good In other new I have drank all sorts of flavors of The Digital Kool Aid over the years and I decided to go Kool Aid free for a while .It may be time to unclog the digital pipes ...ex, Last night I sat and listened to 8 mix's I did on my self contained Boss HD recorder and had an epiphany ....my mix's held up for music I did 15 years ago and my only beef was once I had gotten around to using Home Studio on a PC in 2005 I couldn't handle having to squint trying to edit on a small LCD screen . For me the epiphany part was the sound was there even by what I consider today's standards .. .thankfully I still have my HD recorder in a box in a closet ... I do love Cakewalk...Love the software and love where the company is doing ...yeah I'm cool w all that ..I'm not loving MS ... Kenny PS sorry about the rant peoples ,

  23. In another thread, on another matter, I wrote the following: Personally, while I think additional improvements in the download / update installation process are possible and while difficulties and frustrations with all things technological are inevitable, I think (1) you could have made your initial point with less drama and (2) you could be less reactive -- so could some of the people who held up the anger / hostility mirror to you. Just my opinion. You might not be aware that over a span of several months a number of people expressed issues with the need to have their DAW Computer online in order to update Cakewalk. The result was an off-line activation procedure.

  24. I'm a big fan of the Quick Group feature, use it every time I mix. But as with some similar features in Cakewalk, it's implemented inconsistently in that it works on some things, and then it doesn't work on other things that you would expect it to or in the way you would expect it to, as in the case you note, where it only works when you do it with the button, not with the context menu. I suspect that this is due to the scenario of for instance Quick Groups being implemented as a feature, then several years later, these other features get added and it just doesn't occur to the developers to have Quick Grouping apply to the new features. With a program as old as Cakewalk, where so many features have been added at different times in different phases by development teams with different personnel, things like that are inevitable, and that's what feedback is for. For me, an elephant in the room is all the things that Undo doesn't undo, like mixer knob movements. Sometimes I slip with the mouse, and sometimes I adjust the control on the wrong strip. Having Undo apply to those moves is pretty essential, and Cakewalk just doesn't do it.

  26. With so many VSTi's available that do not send the patch names in a way that CW can read them (some work in SAVIHost, but not with CW), it would be VERY useful if users could map the patch names to banks and patch numbers, instead of selecting by archaic and meaningless numbers. Further, if this would be in a simple text file format or easily imported from such, users could make, upload and share these for the plethora of VSTi's out there.

  29. My main concern would be around performance. I'd assume it wouldn't take much more.... but... I wonder if in general the UI could be GPU accelerated. If in general it could run super smoothly, that'd be pretty awesome. My Daw is running a 780 GTX that pretty much idles all day

  30. Yup. this would be good. But I guess it would require expanding to Tracks 5 product lines. I am looking at Modo*.* as I like to micro tinker with drums and bass a lot.

  31. Douglas- Thanks for listening and comments! Bjorn- Thanks for comments! In subsequent listens I have come to the same conclusions about it maybe being a little too busy here and there. This is actually the BBC Discovery Orchestra augmented with Amadeus in places. Amadeus is the toms and a few of the brass parts. If you already have templates for the BBCSO that's probably the best. For this I used a patch John Lehmkuhl made for his UNIFY plugin especially for BBCSO Discovery. You could do the same things in the DAW but it was easier to load his patches for this since he has already mapped everything across the keyboard by section using it. Since BBCSO comes up short in a few places instrumentally here and there I augmented with Amadeus Symphony orchestra. You probably wouldn't need to do that. Grem- Thanks for listening! Tom- Thanks for those comments. Next time I probably won't pan as true to an accurate symphony seating arrangement. I think I'm panned maybe 20-25% max according to the standard seating but I hear it as well. I could have used a more accurate reverb arrangement too IOW feed some of the verb back to the other side. which might have taken some of that on the edge feeling away. Nigel- Many thanks for comments and listening. Nigel isn't such a common name around these parts and so I hope you'll pardon me as I have come across at least three Nigels in the past several weeks which seem highly unusual. Could they all be you? IDK, do you frequent another forum on composition? I came across a Nigel there too, then there's one on the CH thread I think is Wibbles? Could be wrong there. Wookie- Comments appreciated! Thanks for lending out your furry ears temporarily. This further confirms the issue.

  32. I'm really liking this - even more than my own Tungsten+ theme which I posted here! My one "complaint" (which applies to virtually all the themes I've looked at) is that the PRV looks awful unless you change the background colours to pale - the Mercury ones are actually pretty perfect). I also (and no fault of the theme) had to change a couple of the colours in Preference\Colours to work a little better - something like Marker colour doesn't come from the Theme but from the Preferences\Colours section.

  34. I just learnt I was wrong on part of the above statement. SFZ is Multi-timbral, but it appears that it can only load a single sound-font (or SFZ) file at a time. However, each of the 16 parts can select and play a different patch from the loaded sound-font.

  35. The title says it all. And this emulation comes from some of the original engineers and programmers who worked for Roland in the 70's and 80's. Don't know if it's already mentioned here before. https://rc-808.com/ Oh... and by the way... Happy 808 Day everyone. 🙂

  37. Wishes and hypotheses Wishes We use the verb wish or the phrase if only to talk about things which we want but which are not possible: I wish I could see you next week. If only we could stop for a drink. I wish we had a bigger house. They are always busy. If only they had more time. John was very lazy at school. Now he wishes he had worked harder. We use wish and if only with past tense forms: We use past tense modals would and could to talk about wishes for the future: I don't like my work. I wish I could get a better job. That's a dreadful noise. I wish it would stop. I always have to get home early. If only my parents would let me stay out later. We use past simple and continuous to talk about wishes for the present: I don't like this place. I wish I lived somewhere more interesting. These seats are very uncomfortable. I wish we were travelling first class. I wish I was taller. John wishes he wasn't so busy. I'm freezing. If only it wasn't so cold. After I/he/she/it, we can use were instead of was: I wish I was/were taller. John wishes he wasn't/weren't so busy. I'm freezing. If only it wasn't/weren't so cold. We use the past perfect to talk about wishes for the past: I wish I had worked harder when I was at school. Mary wishes she had listened to what her mother told her. I wish I hadn’t spent so much money last month. Hypotheses (things we imagine) Expressions When we are talking about hypotheses, we use expressions like: what if ... ?in casesuppose (that)supposing (that)imagine (if/that) We use these expressions: with present tense forms to talk about the present or future if we think something is likely to be true or to happen: We should phone them in case they are lost. Those steps are dangerous. Suppose someone has an accident. with past tense forms to talk about the present or future to suggest something is not likely to be true or to happen: Imagine you won the lottery. What would you do with the money? What if he lost his job? What would happen then? with the past perfect to talk about things in the past which did not happen: Suppose you hadn't passed your exams. What would you have done? What if he had lost his job? What would his wife have said? Modal verbs We use modals would and could for a hypothesis about the present or future: We can't all stay in a hotel. It would be very expensive. Drive carefully or you could have an accident. We use would in the main clause and the past tense in a subordinate clause for a hypothesis about the present or future: I would always help someone who really needed help. I would always help someone if they really needed it. We use modals with have to talk about something that did not happen in the past: I didn't see Mary, or I might have spoken to her. It's a pity Jack wasn't at the party. He would have enjoyed it. Why didn't you ask me? I could have told you the answer. We use would have in the main clause and the past perfect in a subordinate clause to talk about something that did not happen in the past: I would have helped anyone who had asked me. I would have helped you if you had asked me.

  43. The strangest thing happened to me last night in bed. I remember waking up and being aware of a strange presence in the room. Through the fog of sleepiness, I could make out a figure standing over me. As my eyes adjusted to the dim light, I could see the figure was dressed in a black, hooded cowl, and was holding what appeared to be a scythe. "Who .... who are you?" I muttered nervously. The figure leaned over toward me and said, "I am death". I gathered my thoughts and replied .... "WHO. ARE. YOU."
