  7. HI:) I've made a long bycicle tour to my son in Hemsbach and on the way I took a stop to meet AZSlow in Heidelberg. Here a picture from the Philosophers' Walk and the "All Knowing" Guide Alexey at 33°C. It was a pleasure to drink some beer with him and was happy that he didn't find any Vodka😁 (I would have lost the game) Greetings Bassman.

  9. Well, his (Uncle E) explanation doesn't really jive with what I am seeing on the website right now. So I still stand by my explanation that I made in another thread (that I can't find). The gist of that explanation was that someone who doesn't know what they are doing is running the website. And I am still not sure about it. So I will stay away.

  10. The move to 64bit started over 15 years ago. Most plug-ins that are still 32bit only are that way because The tools used to create them were 32bit, for example SynthEdit The manufacturer replaced 32bit plug-ins with different products. For example, Cakewalk Sound Center was replace by Rapture Session. The product was discontinued. Regardless of the reason, almost all plug-ins that are 32bit only are pretty old. Due to their age, some plug-ins fail to scan because they violate current Windows security policy. Changing permissions in the registry or drive can fix some scan issues. Installing in non-restricted areas of a drive avoids the drive permissions problem. Some plug-ins have no remedy other than running the DAW as administrator. Bridging was created to buy time for developers and ease the transition for users migrating to 64bit software. It was never intended to extend the life of unmaintained and unsupported plug-ins indefinitely. Relying on unmaintained and unsupported software is not a good idea.

  16. We're pleased to announce the immediate availability of SpectraLayers Pro 7 and SpectraLayers Elements 7. This new version of our advanced spectral editing software now includes many powerful features that have been enhanced through Artificial Intelligence, including: • New Artificial Intelligence algorithms that can sense discrete events in a sound field and isolate them on independent, colorful layers for processing. • Unmix tracks to stems to extract the different instruments to separate layers, such as vocals, piano, bass, drums, and more. • Unmix components to deconstruct stems into tone, noise and transient component layers. • Pattern Finder to select a target sound and then automatically locate and select every other similar sound in the spectrum. • Voice Denoiser to recognize and isolate the human voice and then attenuate everything but the voice for maximum intelligibility. • Repair processes including AI-powered Clip and Click repair, Hum reduction and improved Healing. • Improved Playback tool and Transform tool now featuring a new Transform Selection mode. • Improved ARA 2 layer management creates new layers in the ARA environment. • VST 3 plug-in support on a per-layer basis, in both standalone and ARA modes. • Further improvements including customizable UI luminosity, a playback VU meter, rapid tool toggling, the ability to render a selected layer directly and much more. Check out a more detailed description of the new features at the Steinberg website and get ready to get your minds blown.

  22. $80 to make Spectralayers Pro 6 do what it should have done when it was released. I went ahead and did the upgrade, but I'm not very happy about it. Just did a quick spin with it in stand-alone mode. The processing seems kind of slow. For example you can't easily or quickly preview VST3 plugins. While the preview is playing changes to the plugin's UI don't seem to take effect (or at least didn't for the R4 reverb) I had to stop the preview and press the preview button again, which then takes a really long time to start playing (on a monster machine). And you can't toggle the bypass effect during the preview playback. It's very awkward. Maybe I'm missing something but this isn't how VST3 effects should be. The layers in ARA 2 is a welcome addition. Seemed to work. I loaded in some audio, unmixed the stems and each one was a layer. Inside Nuendo (didn't try anything else yet). Note: if you are going to uninstall SL 6, do it BEFORE you install SL 7. They share the same VST3 plugin. So if you uninstall SL6 after you install SL7 you lose the ARA plugin and have to reinstall.

  25. Hi again, arnaldoo. Thanks for passing this info on recently. But . . . If you didn't go ahead and buy XO yet and had still been planning on doing so, and if you haven't checked out XO's product page recently then, regrettably, I'm the bearer of bad news. The price returned to full today. When I looked a few hours ago it was still on sale, but for around $109 instead of $89. At that time it was still listed on PB's deals summary page as being on sale for $89, and with the same conflicting end dates I mentioned in my previous post about this. But then when I checked back a short while later I found the listing on the deal summary page was gone, the sale was over and the price had returned to full. If you were informed by someone at PB that the sale period was being extended out to Aug 8 then it seems you might have been misinformed. All in all, I think this particular sale has served well to highlight how conflicting deal end-date info can be both a hassle and a cause for disappointment for would-be customers following their passions and trying to arrange their budget accordingly to accommodate. I hope you were able to get XO in time at the lower price. And I If not, I hope there will be another good sale in the not too distant future.

  27. Hi Greetings Development Cakewalk Team and my fellow Cakewalk users, I hope everyone is safe and healthy. I have been using cakewalk for the last 10 years. I am glad that efforts are made to continuously improve it. While it is appreciated that new features would be added, please also pay attention to cakewalk's instability and hanging issues. I experienced the following so far:- 1. When I want to freeze a single track out of a group of tracks assigned to a synth instrument, it freezes all the tracks assigned to that synth. Allow individual track freeze 2. When opening the ASIO4all driver panel through cakewalk and make some changes , the audio engine stops and re starts but play keeps playing. You can't stop it and have to exit and re start cakewalk I think it is important to address ASIO4all issue in a holistic sense so that you may try your best to test many what-if scenarios and resolve them. These issues have given me enough headaches such as input/outputs not working well or erratic, audio dropouts. Better help file information is required with all suggested corrective actions rather than stating "unknown error with a code" Alternatively , provide your own ASIO driver with good features possible. Some of the other products do. 3. Wave forms are lost at times when a clip in a track lane is bounced or converted Stereo/mono. Clearing picture cache folder did not help. This is actually a disaster for a professional category DAW.I experienced yesterday. I am re-doing all the automation edits from my previous backup. 4. Trying to experiment with plug-ins on a playing track makes cakewalk to crash. This is same as situation with ASIOALL driver ( trying to change its settings while playin progress). Either you disallow such change in playing mode or make cakewalk stable handle this situation. 5. I also strongly suggest test scenarios for cakewalk stability when building/editing audio tracks for a imported video file. For example, the scrubbing of tracks do not give a smooth and well synchronized motion on the video. Therefore, it is very difficult to put marker points correctly. Just to make sure the cause is not limitation of my DELL PC with 3.20 GHz processor, 32 GB RAM , it works quite well with my video editors. 6. Please also consider adding your own mastering stock plug-ins for stereo/ surround up mix and downmix for 5.1/ 7.1, Dolby ATMOS etc. It is very essential for producing audios associated with movies. Because some third party sorround mastering plugins do not work in Cakewalk but no problem with pro tools, Logicpro , Cubase which my friends use. I will also continue to give feedback so that we can get these issues resolved and enjoy using cakewalk by Bandlab with good satisfaction. Thanks Ali

  31. I got some spare time during the pandemic and as a result I created a new theme. Continuing with the metal label convention this one is called “Lead”. When compared to my previous themes “Gran Vista” and “Carbon”, this one is flatter and maybe less obtrusive (some would perhaps say more modern). The blue highlights are fetched from my previous themes, while the gradient Control Bar background and buttons have been created from scratch (or actually using a new custom background layer in Photoshop). An overall goal has been to maintain contrast between buttons, text and background. And, of course, to make it look good. One small detail: a feature that I think would work well in most themes is that the Loop, Selection and Punch buttons all have been given a colour accent that corresponds to the same area in Track view, i.e. yellow, green and red respectively. I will add this to the Gran Vista and Carbon themes as well the next time they need to be updated. Download link: I’ve made this theme for my own use, but in case anyone would like to use it you can download it from here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmXDCxaGb7JEeduVqWy0FPQFKe0?e=Jp6SkG Release history: For those interested, there's a release history that covers update information about all my themes. Here's a link to the that pdf document: https://1drv.ms/b/s!AmXDCxaGb7JEdu3To6t7ZeQmmAo

  37. I've never transposed a recorded vocal to make it sound deeper, mainly due to the possibility of noticeable quality loss. It's the same reason I only pitch-correct the worst-offending words and leave the rest alone even if it's not "perfect". However, picking the right key for a vocalist is crucial, not just for ease of singing but also for tonal quality. Elvis Presley famously sang out of his natural range on purpose. Initially it was because he learned songs from demo recordings made by a guy with a higher voice, but it became apparent that those strained high notes added emotional content that appealed to consumers. Personally, I like to sing below my natural comfort zone because it doesn't sound like me anymore. But only for recording, where I can get away with it; on stage I'm far more likely to pick keys that test the upper end of my range. Two of the most widely used techniques for vocal thickening, as noted above, are double-tracking and micro-shifting. But both need to be done with care lest they sound obviously artificial. Don't forget less-intrusive effects such as EQ, delays and distortion. These can significantly fatten a vocal without it sounding obviously manipulated.

  41. Unless volume automation is desired, there is no need to add the envelope. One thing to keep in mind about automation - the act of opening automation lanes when a track has no automation automatically creates a volume envelope. This can cause problems if no automation is desired. To remove unwanted automation envelopes, right-click on the envelope and select "Delete Envelope." Simply deleting the automation lane does not delete the automation envelope.

  42. Because they work just fine in Cakewalk and that's the only consideration for now. The framework for a plugin doesn't change its capabilities or sound in any way just its compatibility. While its something we may consider in the future, we have more pressing things to do with our time than stuff like this at the moment.
