  3. Do you plan on buying it on opening day or are you going to wait until Larry finds the best price? It might take a few days. And we all know that it will be a lot cheaper down the line. Hmmmmm... I am a guy who likes to wait for sales unless I absolutely need something. I want this NOW, but it will be of no use to the project I'll be working on for the next few weeks. I won't really be able to use it for awhile. So buying it next week would just be GAS. What to do?

  6. There is only one true number. 100% 100% of the people alive today could still *possibly* get it, especially if they or their caregivers are not careful. 100% of the people who died from it, got it and died, which is the saddest statistic. 100% of the people who got it and survived did not die from it, which is the good news in all this.

  7. I just realized that I had forgotten to post my favorite tremolo/panner, Pecheneg Tremolo. Small plug-in house. Really cool GUI, even though the plug-in is 5 years old, I'm a sucker for that glowing diving watch thing. Lets you tune shape, symmetry and phase in continuous flow between the settings, kind of like Soundspot Nebula, if Nebula only did volume and panning. (sorry, it's 5 years old, not 15!)

  8. Sound Aesthetics Sampling (makers of Mountains, Resona, Talua, Autumn Choirs, etc) is releasing a new synth for full Kontakt, FRAGMENTS. It's up on their SITE now. From their copy: Fragments is a free virtual instrument for Kontakt with various Organic Synth sounds, that have been created using various Synthesizers. Most of the sounds have movement within themselves so most of the time tune/pan/volume drift to achieve that fragile tone we're looking for. Also they are all multisampled (except the bonus sounds), which gives you even more variation. In addition to that the engine carries a round robin/variation system to get very organic results. Last but not least does it of course include some cool shaping tools like some deep effects, movement and gate and of course drift for that extra fragileness The product will be listed with a price of $15 in the shop but you can enter three different Coupon codes (FRAGMENTS_FREE, FRAGMENTS_5, FRAGMENTS_10) to get it for free/$5/$10 depending on what you want to give and just to clarify. We won't track if you pay something or not, it's just because some people are willing to and this makes it a lot easier for us to work with. I hope this sounds fair to everyone While you're at it, they have a freebie called Consona and have introduced another new product, Paradise Lost Redux, which is only $9.99 until 5/23. I have the four instruments listed above and they are all beautiful. I had no idea they have been adding so many more. I'll be paying attention the next time there is a sale. They often offer amazing deals and when I hear about the next one, I'll post it here, if Larry doesn't get to it before me. 😄

  10. I was watching Davide Carbone introduce the capabilities of Scaler 2.0. Along the way in one of his YouTube clips he briefly brought up Carbon Electra for a patch - and it sounded nice in that spot. I'd heard of Carbon Electra, but never paid attention to it. Today I reviewed a few of the YouTube clips on Carbon Electra and it really has quite a good sound, and it's possible to dial in some cool attitude. In the explanations it's mentioned that all the settings are on the one page which seems nice. Although I need a new synth around the same degree as I need a new reverb or compressor or EQ (meaning, I don't need another one at all), this one seems very worthy. So I grabbed it. Not a screaming deal - but it is on sale at the moment at Plugin Boutique. For $59 I picked up the bundle which is Carbon Electra and 3 expansion packs. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/58-Inst-Bundle/4742-Carbon-Electra-Bundle If you haven't checked out any YouTube clips on Carbon Electra, it's worth a look! It got my attention. I'll top it off to say that Scaler 2.0 looks like a must have, and Davide who is behind Scaler 2.0 is also behind Carbon Electra.

  11. I just did this a few days ago. Install the XNL installer https://www.xlnaudio.com/demos Log in with the e mail account you are registered with. Follow the prompts to install the products you want. Now open Cakewalk and run the plug in scanner. Done

  12. Worth noting that I ended up with £1.90 in virtual cash after buying and rating the included products. So cost of crossgrade was reduced from £7.98 to about £6.

  15. Occasionally Windows updates don't update properly. I found this with the most recent update, which was causing my system to occasionally BSOD on reboot. What I normally do is run a cmd window as admin and run a system file check: More info on what this does : https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/system-file-check-sfc-scan-and-repair-system-files/bc609315-da1f-4775-812c-695b60477a93

  16. It may come back, depending on the whim of a Win10 update. For awhile, Win10 would reset my settings, and start turning off USB ports with every update. That behavior seems to have calmed, but I still occasionally find USB ports reset to power down once again!

  18. Re-installing CbB should be pretty painless - it doesn't alter any user settings. I quite often do it several times a day. The easiest way to do this would be to run the rollback installer, then install 2020.04 again via BandLab assistant. A link to the rollback installer is in this post:

  19. It's not that simple. If it was just social isolation for 2 months, that's cool, no problem. The issue for me is the number of people who have lost their jobs and livelihoods (indirectly) because of the isolation that's the concern for me. It's going to take years, it not decades, to recover from the economic effects of this.

  27. OK!! the th3.vst3 file itself was what was missing, after following macleod's advice. While sorting the plugin manager, I remembered that I had another machine that I no longer use CW on, but I had left the installation on that machine. I simply copied the th3 vst3 file to my current machine and it is working now. Thanks for the help and suggestions!

  28. IIRC someone raised the issue of wanting the ability to bind keys/key combos to Workspaces. At first I though it was a great idea because it would make things much easier for me personally. But then I thought of problems created by people who created Workspaces that didn't have the same keybindings every custom Workspace. With all the people who have issues with Workspaces, I imagined a proliferation of "anti-Workspace hate posts." Thinking about it again now, if there is a set of default keys dedicated to Workspaces, and possibly assigned to factory Workspaces, that would most likely cause a rise disgruntled Cakewalk users. Don't get me wrong--I would personally benefit from not having to use a menu and the mouse in a long list that needs to be scrolled (because there is no folder hierarchy) to find and restore a custom workspace I want. If the developers can come up with a way that it wouldn't cause confusion for other users, I'd like to see that too. As for the issue of rough/slow transitions between Workspaces, I briefly tested "minimal change" Workspaces [Workspaces that leave 85-95% of the UI as is but just change a few things], but I did not test to see if those result in smoother UI updates. Maybe others know. Wondering out loud--maybe somewhere down the road there could be a Workspaces module (possibly for the Control Bar, possibly floating, or even hidden) that is a cross between Screensets and Custom such that users can assign up to 10 (or more) frequently used Workspaces to both buttons and keys/key combos. Maybe something like this (without any defaults) would prevent accidental UI/Workspace switches by people who don't use Workspaces, don't want Workspace keybindings, and/or don't want such a feature. (Yeah, I know, you can't please everyone . . . . 🤷‍♂️ )

  32. Oh, no, it works a treat! I wouldn't mix overheads without it or at least lining them up by eyeball. It's in every template on my overheads, and there whenever I stereo mic. I do measure from the center of my snare batter to the diaphragms of my overheads. I keep a few tailor's measuring tapes around the studio. They come in surprisingly handy for stuff like that. By "misfortune," I meant that I had the overwhelming impulse to buy it and then go back and apply it to every mix I'd ever done, which is a nasty habit to form. It happens sometimes when I get a plug-in that is such a step forward that it's a game-changer. Some I can think of that have been like that for me were Unlimited, MAutoAlign and most recently, Phoenix Stereo Reverb. I imagine that many people have gotten Ozone Elements as a freebie and had the urge to turn it loose on all their older material.

  34. Don't be sad There will be some nice deals for Kontakt. I got it as crossgrade deal to library which gave me such possibility. But there are also free ones which can give it Sooner or later you will grab it anyway as it not only provides platform for many great plugins but also come with some nice and usable samples

  35. Sad part of all this to me is the people refusing to wear a mask. If both parties where a mask and one has the virus, the chance of giving it to others is under 2%. What is so hard about doing your part to help health-care workers cope with this outbreak and protect people around you! We personally know 4 people who have got it. 2 survived and 2 didn't. The 2 that survived had it pretty bad but they didn't need to me ventilated. The other two that need to be didn't make it. I think one will have long-term health issues. Might only be a few percentage that get it bad but how would like to be the one that brings it home to your family. You only have mild case but by time you know you passed it along to your spouse and kids or parents. A little precaution for the loved ones around you. Sorry about my Soap-box here. My wife is a Nurse and has seen first hand what this virus can do . Sad to both of us is the leadership in this country. I'm talking all of them that they can't stop the bickering and actually do the job they were voted in office to do.

  37. One thing for sure...people are Chicken SH*T, considering that this virus has a 99.9% Survival rate... MORE THAN TWICE that of the "common influenza", which kills far more people, but we never really hear about it, because it's "common", not NEW, and the Media can't turn THAT into a "Fear Machine" to force the masses into compliance...like sheep to the slaughter

  39. I've been using pro tools 7 years, and I'm gona tell you now, when it comes to going "into" the wave form - cakewalk does it pretty much the same. It's just more "Old-skool" with it. That's why we need more Hiphop/EDM producers and engineers such as myself - using Cakewalk. I'm excited to say, that will change soon. I have posted a topic to request and introduce Cakewalk to "Visual clip gain" and it was picked up, which we're getting soon. Yeah! 🤘 🎉🏆🍻

  40. I paid $82.32! I really rate XO but XLN needs to push it into the market much more aggressively. XLN needs an even more stripped down, even cheaper version, maybe even free, with the ability to step up to the full version without much in the way of financial penalty. XLN should also be making money selling sample and midi packs. It is superb creative tool with lots of samples. Those C64 sounds that ZincT and msmcleod were talking about in the Roland thread are great in this. I've gone a bit mad with samples - I now have 279,181 samples indexed in XO.

  44. Hi, In Cakewalk we can select clips by Time Ruler. This selection allows us to select all tracks in a specific area. Also we can select tracks that have clips by Right Click selection. It works well when we want to select tracks in the view. But there is no way to select all tracks that have clips in a specific area. It would be great if we can select them by right click selection in Time Ruler. By this way we can easily select tracks have clips in a range and show them.

  45. Many thanks for your response - that's absolutely brilliant: it's possible then to add notes at the take level (ie lanes), Track level (description in the track properties), and project level. It's funny how I've never noticed that after so many years of using Cakewalk and wishing I could! Thanks so much 🙂
