  6. Hi @Josh Wolfer incidentally we have already fixed this issue for the next update. Fortunately the problem isn't that the gain is incorrect. Rather its an inaccuracy in drawing the gain ruler in the bus pane. You can verify this by looking at the VU meter - it should still show a 0dB value indicating that no gain was applied by the drawn envelope. You should see the fix in the next update.

  9. I had a CM-64 back in the day followed by a D-10 but always lusted after a Sound Canvas. Listening to some of these sounds they still stand up these days but the main reason for me to get it is for ultimate compatibility with millions of GM/GS MIDI files out there. I am actually pretty impressed with TTS-1 for that purpose but you probably can't beat the Sound Canvas as a lot of the files were written using one. BTW the FAQ says ...

  10. +1 I don't hate it quite that much but see it as pointless and getting in the way when you have a decent multi-monitor setup. Now docking Melodyne into it every single time Melodyne opens *is* something I loathe 🙂

  13. It's priced well. I have all the usual suspects, Sonarworks Reference 3/4, Waves NX (and the Abbey Road Studio 3 thing), Toneboosters Morphit, use Sonarworks mostly. Might as well check this out see how it goes.

  14. There are 182 presets to choose from covering a lot of bases (some excellent pads I noticed). I have shown the first 40 below. You can click on categories to filter by type. The UI changes depending on the type of preset. So a drum preset displays drum pads rather than cutoff, resonance etc.

  16. Thanks @musical I keep looking at Roland Cloud but the price has put me off as a hobbyist user who already has heaps of synths. This has definitely got my attention though. Here are the various membership options and what's included... https://www.rolandcloud.com/roland-account/memberships/ I notice that whichever membership option you choose it starts with a month trial of Ultimate so you can sample everything they have to offer. I guess they are hoping that after a month of access to everything you wouldn't want to lose access to some of the better stuff but $199/year is too much for me. Also if you pay annually the cost is less. For example Core is $2.99/month paid monthly or $2.49/month paid annually ($29.99). The entry level doesn't include much (unless you own a Fantom or RD-88 hardware) so I would be looking for at least Pro for $99/year (approx £6.70 per month). Still not sure whether that's low enough for me. Do you know if there is still a loyalty program? I think they used to allow you to keep one piece of software every year if you subscribed or something like that. Maybe that's only on the higher subscriptions. Just trying the free Zenology plugin and it is pretty nice for a freebie - one to add to the freebie instruments thread.

  17. What have you tried so far? How is it not working? Won't install? Not scanning? Not visible in CbB? It's showing up but not doing anything. I little info goes a long way. 32bit or 64bit plugin? What version Cakewalk (numerically - don't just say "The latest")

  19. Oh Boy, Alesis Passive M1's were the fist pair of studio monitors that I ever mixed on. I was in a studio that Donald Robinson owned back in the early 90's. He taught me how to use a mixing console and how to use outboard studio gear. He has written and recorded many well know artist and has been an excellent keyboardist for so many groups. Check out Donald Robinson

  20. Elements 8 vs Elements 9 changes, my observations: Some GUI improvements in 9. The EQ global edit puts more information on the screen and adds a solo button for each band. The Imager has added an extra mode to the Stereoize function. Now has modes I and II. The Maximizer appears unchanged. Still works well. The IO panel appears unchanged. I like the GUI improvements. Definitely worth getting for free.

  23. Logic 10.5 is a massive update, especially for producing hip-hop and electronic music. Arguably, this is the most significant update since the release of Logic Pro X in the summer of 2013. There are tons of new features and content for sampling and beat making, and everything is tightly integrated and designed to work together. If you’re a Logic user, this is yet another free update. If you’re new to Logic, Apple is currently offering a 90-day free trial to check it out with all the features. Here is a short description of each of the key new features. Also watch the video. 25. If I ever have to move a track(s) I use the Insert>Time>Measures command. Just place the cursor where you want the move to occur, set 1 (or more) measure and it will move everything the specified amount. Measures are easy.

  27. EW can fail to play correctly in realtime/normal play mode as well. It seems to skip release tails if it can't get the data to the buffer fast enough. It's not just fast bounce that is broken. Loading everything into RAM seems to help this the most though.

  28. Latest version of Cakewalk (2020.04 built 179) has a bug with automation drawing. Tested on multiple computers, different projects. **This does NOT happen when drawing in Track automation. Only Busses. When you draw with the draw tool (alt+click), automation results 0.2-0.9 dB higher than you clicked. Screenshot example. Here I drew the automation to follow right on top of the 0dB line already there: The line tool does it as well. I just switched to the line tool and drew in ontop of the same 0dB mark. Line came out to be .6dB higher. Cheers

  38. Make sure you are on the latest version of Cakewalk by Bandlab (2020.4 Build 179). This comes with a Prochannel compressor called PC4K-S which supports side chaining. If your Cakewalk cannot scan VSTs, then you have other systemic issues that need addressing. I tried side chaining with PC4K-S a few days ago and it worked fine here with the latest CbB.

  40. The problem also occurs when you’re working on one screen only and you have the mixer in the dock only. There’s no way you can avoid scrolling up and down in there. Maybe it would be enough to introduce a command like CTRL+wheel to allow scrolling only without changing any values.

  41. All tracks are stereo, there was no switching to mono. Just the overall sound gets louder in Aux Track. A real example: the day before yesterday I put together a project, balanced the mix, sent drum tracks to Aux Track - everything sounds as it should. The next day I open the same project, but Aux Track sounds louder than it was a day ago. This is not always the case, but several times already.

  43. Lol, Dubstep's not my genre either Probably not much of it is my genre if I'm honest but you never know if there's a loop in there somewhere that will inspire or that can be mangled in some way to add something unique to a track. I quite like getting MIDI stuff as it can be used in things like EzKeys, Band-in-a-Box, ReMIDI etc and takes up hardly any space. I started going through the freebies I listed and there are some potentially useful to me but I guess it depends on what you are looking for. The ones I listed are mostly quite small (100 to 300Mb) apart from Oracle (700Mb), Eternity (840Mb) and Life (2 x 1.2Gb). The MIDI pack (Python) is of course tiny so just get it. Potentially Useful Python (MIDI pack) - 51 MIDI files in various minor keys which would work for keyboards/strings or edit for your needs. Oracle - Melodies and MIDI but will delete the 808 bass notes as I have 808 well covered Melody collection - 40 melodic loops plus the individual instrument stems for each loop. Life - Lots of Ambient/Foley sounds - useful for background audio in videos or maybe some tracks. Covers things like rain, fire crackles, city ambience, crowds, calm ocean sounds, waterfalls, rivers, streams, vinyl crackles, farm noises. Eternity - useful for Lo-Fi vibe. Cobra - Hip Hop - mostly useful plus some hi-hat and melody MIDI. Euphoria Vocals - good selection of dry and effected vocals. I like these as they often cover things that I could never sing myself 😁 Millenium and Roses - Future Bass/EDM - lots of drum loops, FX, melody, Serum presets and MIDI Drip - Hip Hop - some nice guitar/drum loops in this one plus MIDI I think that's about it for now. Hope that helps. Now to check out the download vault 😱

  44. If anyone hasn't already tried the demo it's well worth a go. Version 2 also added a whole bunch of useful things to version 1 and also comes with some useful built-in tutorials to get you started. See here for more info https://www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/pigments/overview#en The full version seems to be full price currently but I wouldn't be surprised if it was on offer before the end of the extended free trial.
