Studio One 4 was released in May 2018...if Presonus holds true to form Studio One 5 should drop this month! What are you looking forward to new feature wise?

Anything other than a major UI rethink that includes the ability to move the control bar to the top of the screen will guarantee a total lack of interest from me. The weird thing is that in the official promo images it does look quite good, but once it's actually there right in front of me it's just hard to look at and I never use it because of that. On the plus side the plug in browser is way sexier than CW - I wouldn't mind at all if CW copied that.

I'm in the complete opposite camp. I think S1 looks like crap. The workflow is crappy. And I think CbB has the had the best interface since the introduction of the Carbon Skylight theme. Reaper is also the most flexible, with a wide availability of "Themes" that are functional and pleasing aesthetically. But that, like everything, is subjective.

Interesting. I have the exact opposite opinion. I think Studio One has the best looking (and more importantly, functioning) interfaces out there. Sonar looks dated to me. Don't even get me started on ProTools AKA Windows 95

I'd say given Studio One is made by people who formerly worked on Cubase, we're probably getting... another feature from Cubase. Studio One pretty much looks like a somewhat more approachable Cubase from my PoV.

I'm right there with you on that Jude! Many here say "I love the GUI"...ewwwwwwwwwwww.... not me...It's a great program, but that GUI is one of the worst IMO

One of the things that drives me crazy about PS is how weird it is to try and copy a track (especially midi) that's made of smaller independent sections so that it's one contiguous track without the various sections. One of the other things but bugs me (and this is purely a personal preference) is that GUI! Every time I sit down with PS I feel like I'm making beats in the bedroom with a 17 year old "producer". Can't they make that UI more professional looking? When you first open it, it looks like a box of Gummy Bears for heaven sakes. Yes, you can adjust the colors, but that's about it. They need to take a look at SONAR and Reaper.

Their logo/homepage reminds me of a foggy graveyard. Oh, the irony.

You mean for example, how they implemented a non-destructive chord track which also works on polyphonic audio? Perhaps Cubase will get some Studio One features... in November...

New GUI. For me if the GUI is not updated massively, it doesn't deserve an upgrade in version number Not that there is anything wrong with the GUI.

FWIW, Studio One 3 came out in May, 2015. Although I wasn't an S1 user at the time (well, I did own a v2 Artist license), I remember this because I had recently become unemployed and recall watching the promo stuff in between job hunting. So, as far as form goes, we could be waiting another year.

IK gets my vote personnaly , dark glass is exellent also but i do find that it need a lopt more tweaking usually Testing as type the PA , like they amp sim , it lacks sometime the dynamic i have on IK , also the distortion is washed up , you know this modulation of sound to creat the growl , i have it great on IK , but on PA it's different , i need a real ampeg to compare lol ... I was comapring and considering PA for fast moves during production , fireing amplitube and going threw things can be overkill sometime unless uyou made great starting points (witch i tend to do ) , in PA the SVT pro gets my vote .....

The instruments from Aria are "ok"...minor faults...but the Support is an entirely different issue. However, the last time I wrote them they did respond, which was a step up from previous attempts!

Cakewalk does not have that facility. Might even be that only FL Studio does. You will have to do it the hard way. (Program two notes close together.) If it is any consolation, some drum instruments have a flam articulation, but of course, that doesn't help for other instruments.

Here is a new video I've just put up showing how to use EQ to shape your sound and create space for other instruments/vocals. I got these tracks for free from here - if you've never seen this website, go there now! Its got hundreds of free song stems for you to use to practice your skills. Great resource! P.S. I will be doing these videos from within cake in the future, but this one is in Studio One, though the principles will apply in any DAW.

In SO if you mute an instrument track in the arrange view, it doesn't show up as muted in the mix view (and vice versa). So if a VST isn't playing it might be because you forgot that you had muted it in the console. If the console isn't in view then you're not seeing that red Mute button and you wonder what's going on. Presonus has their reasons for doing it that way but they really should give you the option to turn off that feature. Maybe in v5? Please?

It's pretty critical whatever it is as when I tried to manually install the sounds it was that one it couldn't find and thus load the sounds

If your audio interface has stereo line in, then you should be able to plug the headphone out of the volca sample in to the line in of your USB Audio interface using a suitable cable. Makes sure if you do this, you're not using an input that is expecting microphone levels as the output of the volca sample headphone out might be quite high compared to that of a microphone . Start with the levels at the lowest possible levels and turn them up gradually until the levels are not in the red (or just occasionally bumping the red). Note: the M-Audio Uno is only a MIDI interface. It is not an Audio interface. This means the M-Audio Uno would not be suitable for this. You would need an actual audio interface or a sound card that has line in sockets.

And people think I have too many VST/VSTi's
