  1. This probably hasn't been posted for a while but here are some free(ish) sources for SFX samples https://www.adobe.com/uk/products/audition/free-sound-effects.html (actually looks like that link is dead...but fear not....) https://offers.adobe.com/en/na/audition/offers/audition_dlc/AdobeAuditionDLCSFX.html - described as "royalty-free audio sound effects." think there is about 15 gig plus the BBC sfx library (not strictly speaking free but ok for personal use) http://bbcsfx.acropolis.org.uk/

  3. Carlos, I don't want - of course - to feed this topic as it is very off for this forum but I like you (no hate whatever you prefer to believe so please let me put such thing for the end to that off sub-thread... Let's consider a conspiracy theoretic who has no music education or even any musical skills but he put sentence all musician are lying about you can use actually minor pentatonic scale over major chord.... Who do you prefer to believe ? I have some microbiology background from my study time and prefer to believe doctors and virology scientists (from all over world even politically hostile countries) than man who has no backgrounds but spend his all life time to seak whatever he can over Internet (I can add easily my own WWW page with whatever I like too Please let's not continue this topic here. If anybody feel it is important to argue with science maybe coffee place is more suitable for this Let's make music, change music, invent music, buy plugins or not to buy plugins Whatever make us happy And have all great time over these days.

  4. http://ftp.se.freebsd.org/pub/awe32/soundfonts/ I have a renewed interest in soundfonts because I am rebuilding very old tracks from 90s which used soundfonts predominantly. Outside of the SFZ plug in cakewalk that I cannot get to work, I have been using SFORZANDO and DSK SF2 and TX16WX plugs to load the soundfonts - .sf2 and .sfz Awave Studio DEMO for 30 days is also useful if you have any old .SBK / Emu Soundfont ver 1 files still hanging around. This program allows you to convert them to .sf2, .wav or .sfz https://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/index.html Not worth buying to be honest, to expensive for what it is. Anyone else with interesting soundfont goodies post here

  6. A day late too. Lower 60's and sunny on Saturday in MN. 8 inches of snow on Easter. Had to wear my fur lined speedos. Due to popular demand there will be no photos. Welcome to our new Finnish friend from Minnesota, the land of Bobby Oro, the originator of the "Finn-glish" language.

  7. Came here to post this and see Lars is waaaayy ahead of me. Nonetheless, this is a GOOD one! It's sitting on my Mixbus and is literally on every mix I do. It's super kind to the CPU, easy to use, and has lots of useful features. A keeper for sure!

  9. Both the Gran Vista Black & Blue and Carbon themes have now been updated to support recent modifications in CbB 2020.04. This includes the addition of Arranger Tracks and individual ProChannel module presets. Additionally, the menu drop-down indicators on the Media and Plugin tabs in the Browser have been made brighter for increased visibility. Scrollbar backgrounds have also been made slightly brighter in order to give better contrast against the scrollbar arrows. Unfortunately at this time the black scrollbar arrows can unfortunately not be modified using the theme editor. Please note! Due to the addition off Arranger Tracks in CbB 2020.04, all tab images in the Inspector got smaller. Because of that, the Gran Vista and Carbon themes version 1.07 are not backward compatible with CbB prior to release 2020.04. If you are planning on using older versions of CbB you should thus not update Gran Vista or Carbon beyond version 1.06. As always, download the themes from the links supplied in the OP.

  13. Musical Entropy, the maker of Spaceship Delay and Guitar Gadgets, has just released a new freeware plug-in called The Great Escape, a dynamic tremolo modeling the analog pedal of the same name from the French company Thrilltone. This tremolo has standard controls such as speed, depth, LFO waveform options (type and symmetry), but it features also an envelope detector which changes the speed and the depth of the effect, with your playing, to make it more expressive, with customizable sensitivity and envelope release time. It is well suited for guitar players (that's April / Guitar month after all), but it can be used with any other instruments by setting up the threshold control accordingly. Musical Entropy focused also on educational resources. In the plug-in, the users have an access to a description for each control by moving the mouse over them, to a capture of the original pedal manual, to a "waveforms" tab displaying the shape of all the signals interacting with the audio input, and to an embedded tutorial (like in Spaceship Delay) explaining what a tremolo is, how to use the plug-in, and suggesting tremolo tricks to play with. In summary: 3 waveforms available (triangle, sinus and square). Speed up or slow down effect speed, with a simple pick's hit. Reinforce or reduce effect's intensity, with your playing dynamics. Finely set transition time with the dedicated "Release" knob. Optimized for all instruments, not just for electric guitars, thanks to the "Threshold" control knob. Extra educational features to help users understand what is happening in the plug-in. Presets made by Francois Maxime Boutault from Les Liens Du Son and Musical Entropy. 2 hidden Easter eggs (again it's April). The developer points out that this is a preview version of an upcoming commercial plug-in. The sound signature of the plug-in is not representative (yet) of the original pedal behaviour, with all the final features not available either, and the current features which might be subject to change. It has been released early to help people have fun when they stay at home during COVID-19 containment. After a given period of time, this preview plug-in won't be available anymore from the musical entropy website, until the release of the commercial plug-in, but will be still usable as a freeware forever. The Great Escape is available on musicalentropy.com, for Windows, mac OS and Linux (Ubuntu 16+) 64-bits in VST, VST3, Audio Unit and AAX formats http://musicalentropy.com/

  15. We seem to favor the same libraries. These seem like these two they have a lot of good pads. I'm probably as interested in the expansions as much as the two libraries. I gotta watch my spendage, tho. This deal comes around regularly and there is always more stuff in it when it does. Correct. The entire collection is 100% off. In fact, Larry has a special code where they will actually pay you to take them off their hands! 😁

  16. Absolutely. I wish I made my decision faster... Quite complete and nice sounding strip... I have also some suspicious this strip will get some additional extensions in the future with discounts for owners (or maybe some free?)... Grrr... Sometimes it is good to be early bird, sometimes it is better to wait... But anyway I think many people are suspending their shopping not be sure about their incomes so there are now also hard times for plugin manufactures... Which probably means more and more deals will be introduced to grab some money every month...

  17. I picked it up for $80+ at Best Service, but I think that deal ended. 1. It looks gorgeous on screen. 2. I’ve now used it a bit (a couple of recent sessions). Sounds really good. A/B ing with and without all (or parts of it active) can really hear satisfying and expected results. 3. Ultra easy to use. Yeah, it’s nice.

  18. No current plans to make Cakewalk itself cross platform. We're working on other cross platform apps and our efforts could ultimately help facilitate a full cross platform port but its very unlikely to happen in the near future. Staff view is a lower priority since it is one of the least used features. We try to make incremental updates to it but it was never intended to be a full blown score editor.

  22. Very nice reverb. CM version is fairly feature rich, but this adds quite a bit of control and more sound options. Unfortunattly after Phonenix Verb and XenoVerb both at $10 a piece recently. A $50 verb plugin (though different) is tough to swollow.

  23. When rearranging with Ripple Edit you have to manually handle overlaps as well... so the Arranger Track should be a quicker way to do more complex restructuring? Although it might be easier to be observant and "catch" all overlap problems if you do it as you go along while Ripple Editing... Nevertheless, as you said it'll be an amazing "play tool", and probably not just in early stages but also in later stages if some alternative ideas happen to come up. There'll be no more: "Imagine that the break here builds up and climaxes to this part over HERE instead... like THIS! *trying frenetically to click at another point in the timeline at the exact right moment, but failing as usual to demonstrate the full extent of the greatness of said idea*" 😜

  24. This would be great! I tested the Arranger a bit, but I am afraid to change something unexpectedly! Furthermore I have found out that there are some risks, so if you change the order of your song, you still have to manually handle "note overlaps", i.e. notes that start a tiny bit earlier then the section or those that do overlap the section a bit. Okay, you can do this with slip edit and cross-fades for audio tracks, but it is a lot of work if you have some of them. With MIDI tracks it is even worse, because some notes that were meant to be a part of the moved section stay at the old position, when their start is a tiny bit before the section's begin. If you have to set the beginning of the section earlier because of those reasons, then it gets much more complicated, too (and the manual audio clip fixing remains)! Thus for me the Arranger is just a play tool in the early state of a song where all MIDI notes can be quantized and audio perfection is not yet the purpose. I think probably I prefer to use Ripple Edit for a "real" order change of an advanced song. Also I have not yet tested the Arranger with Vst instruments that need some "minus time" for their notes and it also comes to mind guitar/bass Vsti's where you define behaviour that must last over a section.

  26. Thanks Toddskins... I guess I'm still not explaining myself well here. I am well versed in all these aspects. My problems here are a situation. How do you connect a midi keyboard that only has usbmidi to a 5pin din Without A Computer? A gadget is now required. There are a few. Not many. next issue. I am in northern California. The friend I am trying to help lives in Florida without any internet of texting (pics could be traded). He is extremely un-tech as a man and though intelligent, he does not have any tech intuition. I had everything setup and working fine, but the keys on his cp33 died too many times to repair again. So he bought a new keyboard that he liked how it played. But turns out it is only a little home toy. It's sound is inferior. The output is only a headphone out and appears to only be giving him mono out to boot. It's the right type of cable but my experiences have shown me how often some brands won't fit correctly... He can't tell... I can’t see... So I thought to use midi slaving the old keyboard for it's sound. He is not capable of dealing with using his pc as a hub and routing through it. So a direct connect 5pin to 5pin would have been a simple solution but usbmidi got invokved. Attempting to connect things turned out far too difficult all by itself as he isn’t even certain they are correctly plugged in.... shall I go on? I hope you’re seeing the picture more clearly now. I got the cables and midi expander connected to the best of his ability and as new keyboard has no channel controls, i looked at the old keyboards midi receiving channel settings set to all. After much frustrarion and lots of i/o and sound producing tests, the midi connection was not working. I can do no more here and left him with a recommendation to return the new keyboard and buy a better one.. He will either do that or use the current lo-fi mono sound for his project... Thanks again...

  27. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth since they are very generous in giving away stuff. One time they gave away 30gb of their stuff. That should also tell you something there. I'm not really into hip hop, trap so it's rare I find anything of use. They've done this deal before. I don't think I went through their midi collection yet. I bought it some time ago. I did get the 808s and FX. If you don't have Serum it's worth getting a pack for free just for the wavetables.

  33. @Keith Lane you can save and load multiple arrangements within the same project. If you click the dropdown in the arrangements pane in the inspector you can create as many arrangements as you like. When you select one of them from the arrangements combo box it loads all the sections in that arrangement. Arrangements can duplicate or reference sections that exist in the section pool.

  36. I’m frustrated by all of this... Though I love my friend (brother by another mother), he's incredibly non-tech. So this may work, but I was unable to make it happen cross-country remote. This has been an attempt to adjust to recent instrument failure. His cp33's keyboard just died for it's second time. Another repair ridiculous so he bought a different keyboard far inferior, but he loves the feel... There are already so many complications and issues due to this. So this will have to follow a different course. It's very sad how this modern midi method has so badly created these interconnectivity issues where none existed before.
    1 point
  37. Exactly! But as it happens they're pretty good if, like me, you aren't a keyboard player first and foremost. A quick run down... The FX Toolkit is sample based and covers things like white noise, foley, ambience, risers, downlifters, buildup drums and impacts. Lots of good stuff in these for use in EDM, Cinematic or anything else for that matter. Comes in at just over 3Gb unzipped. Essential MIDI is 350 MIDI files of keyboard patterns covering every major and minor key but I didn't find any duplicates in the quick sample I did so the first Cm one is different to the first Dm one etc. Being MIDI of course it means that you could use all 350 in any key you like. One of the 7 packs is dedicated to ARPs and includes WAV examples (for some reason). Topaz - another 80 MIDI keyboard patterns so could be used like the one above.

  38. I too wish you the best, although I gotta say something that probably will make me lose all u guys' friendship: Even though I can't tell for sure, because I am mere mortal, I think 99% of this sht is a scam. Anyway, I let you with LondonReal.tv and David Icke's last interview, watch it or don't, like he says in the interview " I shouldn't impose my will over others". Just so you know, his last interview (2 hours and a half) got deleted by YT. The stream broke YT records though, lol, and it seems the video has been watched by 10 million viewers already (at LR.tv's site). David IckeTHE CORONAVIRUS CONSPIRACY: HOW COVID-19 WILL SEIZE YOUR RIGHTS & DESTROY OUR ECONOMY Btw, remember to at least give this interview the benefit of the doubt, as WE all can see that: All businesses, specially small, micro, medium, have closed, which means if not already will go bankrupt, then what all these people gonna do? Most important, remember USA is just a country out of 200 and who know how many more, so if you have a "I am USA only I don't care about the others" mentality , well good for you, but this is a world event. Oh, also, they even uploaded the interview in parts so you can download them and upload them everywhere you can. The video was banned also from Vimeo, Facebook, and the UK regulator Ofcom. And well, if you have a little bit of Sherlock Holmes in you, you could deduce pretty easy that if this video didn't hold a cancle in all this situation nobody would/should bother preventing it from being on air (Youtube, etc). Lots of things to say. Just... honest I always have wanted just the best to all of us, all human beings, it was great seeing some youtubers get kinda famous and suddenly people all around the world would meet them randomly on the streets (not planned) and being recognized, it was great these youtubers (no matter their origin) would say something like "omg, you're from Peru!?!? I am being watched in Peru?!" Or Vietnam, or Hong Kong, or China or Cuba or Sweden or wherever, it was great seeing the reaction because these youtubers were very happy that other countries, no matter which one, was paying some attention to them (in other words, they weren't thinking "you're from Peru? that's disgusting"). Felt like we were becoming really brothers without frontiers, but now this whole Covid situation came to fkc it all up. I way 99% this covid sht doesn't exist... (and if it were "true", I still take David Icke's ideas, and whatever is floating around messing people up is other thing "they" don't want to mention, that is worse than Covid). Anyway, if it was so lethal, not many people have died. Like really, if it was so lethal, it would be millions by now... Hate me if you will, but if David Icke's right... omg... and we did nothing but sit looking for the best deal on this forum, we would have really fcked it up ourselves. Rambling, perhaps... Be well ALL.
