  3. It works. Kind of. But navigating user IRs is such a PITA, I gave up using WoS for this. And if you consider buying IRs form them keep in mind that the more licenses you buy, the slower the plugin becomes. To the point it starts crashing your DAW in the middle of the recording/mixing process.

  9. I just posted a new article on getting the most out of loops and loop libraries in Cakewalk by BandLab, I hope you find it useful. It's a little too long to just put in a post.

  10. If anyone hasn't already tried the demo it's well worth a go. Version 2 also added a whole bunch of useful things to version 1 and also comes with some useful built-in tutorials to get you started. See here for more info https://www.arturia.com/products/analog-classics/pigments/overview#en The full version seems to be full price currently but I wouldn't be surprised if it was on offer before the end of the extended free trial.

  19. Have to say the free version of this was underwhelming to say the least but you can now unlock full functionality for free via IAP. You have to create an account and go to the Store in the app. Then click on the offer banner and add the unlock to your cart and complete the transaction. Then go to My Stuff and download the new content. Cannot find the end date for this offer. 21. Hey all, I did a blog post you might be interested in that compares emulations of the SSL 4000e console to a British Class A console (Neve) emulation using the Softube Console 1 and the Pearl Mimic Pro. It shows the difference between these two emulations. In my case, this is with Studio One, but the Console 1 can be used with any DAW, which is why I'm posting this here - just didn't want to make two versions of the same video, as the exact same thing could be done in either one. I'm not using any Studio One features in this. Cakewalk by Bandlab also has great support for the Console 1, so I thought it might be of some use to the folks here. https://www.blades.technology/music/daws-sonar-and-studio-one/console-1-ssl-4000e-vs-british-class-a

  23. For those who are in the position to be staying at home during these challenging times, we want to help make it as easy as possible for you to stay creative. So, for a one-off Plug-in Collective special, we’ve partnered up with AudioThing to bring you the SR-88 plug-in for free as a limited-time giveaway for all members. AudioThing’s SR-88 is a sample-based plug-in emulation of the Sound Master Memory Rhythm SR-88, a rare analogue drum machine from the ’80s. The instrument features five classic analogue sounds: kick, snare, hi hat 1, hi hat 2, and cymbal, which can be pitched, panned or mixed independently. The AudioThing SR-88 offer expires on April 24th 2020 (4:00PM GMT), is available to download from your Focusrite account and runs in addition to the Mastering the Mix IGNITE and BASSROOM content already available as part of Plug-in Collective. https://focusrite.com/en/news/plug-collective-audiothing-sr-88?utm_campaign=Plug-in Collective - Mar%2FApril 2020&utm_medium=email&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-84CY5l98MGJd3KY7hT1BV6W8zyxAn-RsU19H1OILffdvwpz2EXWDwfTneTI_twghRCSUM3wbEkdE6VaxmE2Q3_OYr2QQ8Rg_Qb8Gr4VRtG1cdn2cU&_hsmi=85379173&utm_source=hs_email&utm_content=85379173&hsCtaTracking=2e6493cd-974c-49c2-b294-903d21abeae7|9fbeb9ac-a6d0-4e35-a2b7-8cd84ef271b7

  26. Hello. I hope that this information will help: I was lead here by a comment on my post from last night on the Hardware forum category. I have used the console 1 with Cakewalk without issue. I took a look at my settings and found that while the Console 1 is listed under my Midi IN and OUT sections of preferences, I have neither of them checked. As far as I know, the Console 1 has no midi function per se. Can you just uncheck those in your preferences, add the plugin to the insert on a track, then use the hardware "on" button in the upper left after activating that channel in the mixer/track view and see if it works? I didn't have an issue with it showing up properly. Never really thought to even look at the Midi options for it! Does that help at all?

  28. I often mention at seminars there are many things Cakewalk, which is free, can do that most other DAWs can't, like generate stretchable files (I think only Acid and Sound Forge can do this). Even if you use a different DAW, it's worth downloading Cakewalk IMHO.

  29. Yes, as mentioned, you can send from the bus to an Aux track as well. That will give you all the track FX (but not the bus FX unless you output it to the Aux track). If the track you want to use already exists, send the bus to a new Patch Point, and then set the input of that track to the same Patch Point.

  42. Just to be clear, Cakewalk is not doing anything unusual; the issue is with import, not export. The starting timestamp of a MIDI file is typically ignored when importing to any DAW; the event timestamps will be offset to start wherever the play head (a.k.a. Now Time) is. Opening the .MID file as a new project/song will honor the starting timestamp. So the quick way to deal with this is to open the .MID file as new project, select the track, and copy-paste it into the working project. If you want to use the approach of inserting a 'dummy' event at 1:01:000, I suggest something harmless like Sustian Pedal Up (CC64=0) that doesn't cause any trouble if it isn't removed.

  44. Well, Kontakt is the king daddy in the market, with EastWest Play trailing a bit, but also good, but the EastWest sample libraries can get pretty pricey. The above being said, I also have TX16WX, and it is really a solid sample engine, as well, and you can't beat free. I have not tried their commercial Pro version, but I can vouch for them putting together a quality product, even with their free version. I do not know how extensive the libraries are for TX*, though, but why not give their free version a whirl, and see how you like it? That's why it is there, and lots and lots of folks use one or the other flavors of it, quite happily, from what I have seen. Bob Bone
