  1. I went ahead and upgraded. I just bought the Bass bundle at the end of Feb, so less than a month ago. You can drag the MIDI by dragging the top part of the phrase keys. It has a couple of lines that is the drag "source".

  5. This isn't the kind of thing I generally post here but the Corona virus sort of changed my musical directions for a bit. I am responsible for the music at a local church which can't meet due to the virus so last week I made a small set of tunes and posted them online for the church. I must do the same this week, so I got a little more ambitious and decided to make mixes of tunes and post them with videos of the words. I haven't made any video yet and this is only the first tune I mixed. I hope to post this along with video on YouTube soon. The basic tune isn't original but the composition behind it is all original. The feel of the tune has been changed slightly because of this. If you get the chance to listen to both links and comment on if one has higher fidelity I would appreciate it. Doesn't need to be the whole tune on the 2nd link. Thinking about maybe using Orfium more since they claim a higher fidelity upload over SC 128mp3. Orfium link- <iframe src="https://www.orfium.com/embedded/track/995403/you-are-my-all-in-all-starise/?ref=Starise" width="100%" height="150px" style="border: none;"></iframe>

  6. If you hold a key/chord while you do the drag it reflects what you are holding. If you don't you get the same base chord/note. I suspect if you use the latch mode you might not even need to hold, I didn't try that. The MIDI it generates do have keyswitch leader notes at C-2 that trigger VB into instrument mode for every note on. So if you wanted to use that MIDI somewhere else you'd need to lasso delete or filter those keyswitch notes out. Unlike the guitarist the bass instruments are all playable as instruments, which is a big win.

  9. With an iLok dongle - I don't find the one activation limitation imposed by some creators a limit. You just move the dongle to your other machine if you need those plugins. I'm going to be replacing one of my audio computers soon and the iLok plugins will be the least of my headaches, activation is easy peazy. No challenge & response, locating serial numbers, or computer install limits. If you've got a fair number of Pace protected plugins bite the bullet & get the dongle. The next time you have to set up a new computer for audio you'll thank yourself.

  14. there isn't a wordbuilder in Voices of Soul (unless I've totally missed it ! : ) ) backup singers has the wordbuilder but it's not really convincing. I'm getting the most use for ooohh/ahhh pads that you can 'play' with the mod wheel. The only problem is that the backup singers have such class that it can make a slightly sub-par lead vox sound worse ! I'm also using Voices of Soul for BV pads but I don't find that single-shot sample stuff very useful for the kind of music I like. It's all a bit 1990s "oh yeah" type samples

  15. The problem with capitalism is that if there is no profit incentive, nothing gets done. And the politicians delay before they do anything and won't budge until the financial losses reach the point where it gets more profitable and the oligarchy tells them to move. Plus they dump their stocks while telling the public not to panic. China built a huge hospital immediately (no profit motive but life saving) and isolated. I'm not saying communism is better. I prefer capitalism (but with sensible controls), but there are some things each system does better and worse than the other. And when some politician says in so many words, "give up your life for the good of the economy" I say "You first". Notes

  19. The time tool in Melodyne is set to " on " by default - but it is also set to a value - . Likely you're trying to stretch it a smaller length than the time grid defaults to ( which I believe is 1/4 note ). If you open options - Time - and set it to off then you can stretch by whatever increment you choose. Once that is set - it will remain off for the duration of your session, or until you close Sonar. I wish there was a way to set it to Off by default - as I never use grid functions.

  23. Is anyone using the Stream Deck with Cakewalk ? I just got the 15 button version, not set it up yet as I have a new DAW rig to set up and it won't work on my old Win7 machine anway, but I think it will be a really good workflow tool so just wondered how others were using theirs ? I see it can now transmit midi messages so that could well be handy for certain Kontakt Libraries for me if I can set up the keyswitches

  29. Sorry Bob, but there's a lot of (media induced?) inaccuracies there! Even if the virus goes worst case scenario, there's still a very good chance that MORE people will die if the economy collapses. However, what you're seeing isn't capitalism, some actual capitalists are calling it "criminal capitalism" because it will cause more issues than it solves. Also, I don't want to go into politics but, from what I've read and seen, most people have things 180 degrees backwards (not their fault, this is the message some want to send). Economics 101: - True capitalism creates wealth and a better standard of living - Runaway capitalism is bad - Socialism isn't even a thing, it's only the transition period between capitalism and Communism - Communism is far worse than runaway capitalism because, not only do a select few get all the wealth, but there's a lot less for the bottom end and those that complain tend to get purged quickly. Any of the Collectivism approaches may temporarily spread the wealth out (although a careful viewer will notice that those promoting the plan tend to exclude "their" wealth from the plan), however it's been noted many times that even if you did spread everything out, in a very short period of time the same distribution that you started with would form. You just simply have a smaller number of people who understand money than those that don't (and, on purpose, this is NOT taught in schools!). As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing real or useful about politics. They're just a tool for those who really run everything and, now that they've added the FANG's to their arsenal (Facebook, Amazon, Netflix and Google) along with over 90% of all mass media (owned by three companies!), the chances of you hearing about what's really going on are close to zero. [tinfoil hat time] I'm now understanding more about why there was so much panic and hysteria. As I mentioned before, it's no secret that one of the goals of those that run everything (and a key part of UN Agenda 21) is to have one global currency, preferably electronic. There's already a bill to create a US Cryptocurrency. The guy leading the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom, has a history of some shady actions (like hiding a Cholera outbreak multiple times), but he's already been on the media telling everyone not to use cash since the virus can be passed that way and to only use credit (part of getting people used to not using cash). These people are trying to create a scenario (by using the virus and other tools) where the masses will panic and demand a solution. What's the solution? A new economy based on an electronic currency. If this occurs, we will be totally and completely screwed. This is the end game of the move to a fiat currency that started first when we first (illegally) started having to pay taxes (1913), then continued with the (illegal) creation of a central bank (i.e., the "Fed" - also in 1913), which was followed by disconnecting the US Dollar from having any underlying value (when Nixon stopped the Gold Standard in 1971). Also note that the US Dollar became the World's Reserve Currency back in 1944 and has been what the World uses to buy oil since the early 1970's (the Petrodollar). So, changing the US Dollar to an electronic crytocurrency affects the entire World. Think about it: If ALL currency is invisible and controlled by a central bank (whose members DO NOT answer to any government), all they need to do to enslave people and keep them in line is to arbitrarily change account balances or threaten to withhold all of a persons "money." No thanks! [/tinfoil hat time]

  30. All ujam instruments don't need Kontakt, and are available in VST, AU, and AAX formats. However, the guitars have NKS, so it pays to load them up in KK if you use that. There are lots of MIDI lines as well as sound presets. As you can see, you can change, pickup, character, amp, drive, and use a limited version of their Finisher. You get it as a fully functional 30 day demo. If you decide you want it, you click the info tab and it will take you to the website where you can buy and register it. More about that on the ujam website.

  34. >It isn't worth an extra $35-50 that the customer has to pay. It definitely is, it is not adding that price per plugin. > Not to mention giving up the USB port.. My fairly expensive laptop has 3 usb ports. Powered USB3 hubs are not that expensive, now days 3 USB ports are not enough. I exceeded that number without using any dongles. >than the manufature treating the buyer like a potential crimianl. meh, I disagree with your premise. If all my plugins were iLok, setting up my next Audio computer would take hours instead of days or longer.

  35. I did a search and there was a 50% off ujam Summer Sale last year at the end of July. So you don't have to wait until Black Friday. But I think it was just for instruments and bundles. Probably if you want to upgrade to version 2 of the basses, you'll just have to pay the undiscounted prices. For the record: the Upgrade Bundle is $53.68 at Best Service plus a 1.77 BestCoin Bonus. 😀

  38. I'm having difficulty recording audio with my mic. I live in a trailer park. I don't get much through traffic since I'm at the end of a dead-end street, but cars can still be heard. On one side of the park is a landfill; on the other is new housing construction. Graders, saws, hammering, backhoes, cement mixers, bulldozers all making noise pretty much from 7 until sundown. Then there are the animals. Crows and other birds. There is an owl who (😀) seems to like the tree right outside my window and never passes up an opportunity to vocalize. Question: How many feet of sound-proofing will I need?

  39. yes - but I find the backup singers slightly better - for "oooohs" and "ahhhs" the Voices of Soul is great but a lot of the phrases are a bit more distinctive so not as usable IMO fwiw Those ladies have amazing voices - would love to get them on a track. I don't find the word builder to be any use at all ! - I'm probably holding it wrong
