  1. I like to poke (gentle) fun at HoRNet because of their sales - but they are GREAT plugins at nice prices and Saverio is a total gentleman 👍

  2. Saverio is a class act and Italy is having an appalling time at the moment. Generosity in the face of adversity.

  3. With the global situation as it is, we need something to cheer us up. The deals the past few days have been underwhelming. @cclarry please post Omnisphere for $99 or something. I'd also take FM Tines 2 for $10, or the Audiobro Genesis Children's choir for $50. Or a Moog One 16 Voice for $500. I could go for that. Come on, Larry, help me out here.

  4. Many places are shutting down, these are scary times…. There is hardly an aspect of our lives that this global pandemic has not touched, and people everywhere are, understandably, under stress. Effective immediately, we are opening the doors to The GuitarJamz Premium content section of our website, to anyone who wants access, totally FREE, from now until (at least) the end of April, 2020. That's right, we're opening it all up for FREE from now through the end of next month. (NOTE: We may extend this free access if the situation out there for everyone does not get better.) This is not a free trial. We believe that now is the time to give, so we simply want to give freely of what we have. Playing guitar can’t heal the sick or hug the quarantined. But it can provide a healthy distraction to you. So whatever your reason, I hope you’ll click here to to gain immediate access to the premium guitar lesson collection Cya on the inside

  5. I agree! I do it all the time. But they are GOOD plugins at VERY reasonable prices... even when not on sale, and with great support. I'd never fault Savario...he does a great job!!!

  12. We have released a simple utility plugin we named "Stereo Swapper" that does a simple task of swapping the left and right channels on any stereo bus. If you have been working on a mix project for a long time you might be surprised how different it sounds when the left and right channels are switched at your monitors or headphones. A better overall mix balance, EQ, etc., can often be achieved by simply monitoring your mix while toggling the left/right channel routing. Stereo Swapper can be used on the monitor bus (if your DAW has one), on the main stereo bus - or even stereo tracks within a mix - to quickly flip the left/right channels without having to mess with pan settings. Stereo Swapper a simple little plugin that can help you make better mix decisions or left in place on stereo tracks within a mix that ends up sounding better "flipped". Stereo Swapper will soon be posted on our website however can be downloaded directly here: http://www.raisingjakestudios.com/files/StereoSwapper_v100_Mac_PC.zip

  13. BTW, Percolate, I'm sorry to say, is not even worthy of unZIPping. Absolute poo. I don't think they even list it on their website any more. It's the kind of plug-in that probably gave SoundSpot a poor reputation early in their history. Ho-hum processing in a needlessly obscure UI. SoundSpot seem to be focusing more on the "hot producer" EDM market, which I think is a good idea for them. They have cool-looking UI's that inspire messing about, but when it comes to more straightforward "I need a warm-sounding compressor for this acoustic drum bus," or "let's put some EQ on the master bus," I haven't found as much use for their offerings. And....ho-lee virtual space, does Phoenix sound amazing! I did a simple, quick A-B putting it into my reverb send bus with Oril River on a drum mix and the difference was spectacular. I just left Phoenix on its default preset, with similar levels and whatnot on Oril River. With Phoenix, my mix' image extended beyond the monitors both left and right and up and down and front and back. It was stunning, and at first of course I didn't trust myself, so I switched back and forth, checked the settings on Oril River....nope, pretty similar. Up to this point, I've loved Oril River. It just slaughtered every reverb I've ever auditioned, instantly and decisively. Never heard anything like it. Of course, I am wary of FX that instantly make a mix sound like a million bucks, so I will revisit this phenomenon and see how it holds up, but for now it's the best $9 I've spent on a plug-in in quite some time. Also, the first reverb I've liked enough more than TrueVerb or OrilRiver to even pay for, and the descriptiveness and abundance of presets will help a great deal in guiding me to select the right one for the sonic space I'm trying to create.

  14. If I owned it I'd be bummed. Still waiting for it to hit $29 so that it can join my collection of vocoders that I've never actually used.

  15. Final Mix- Recorded a doodle using my Squier gtr. then developed into the tutti section then rest of the tune. Several issues on this. I'm not going to re-cut any of the scratch tracks. I always like to leave the initial germ of the tune even when poorly performed or recorded. thanks

  16. A few days ago, Daryl (1968) Greenway sent me an instrumental track with the working title "Dependence Day" and asked me to write some lyrics and vocals and a lead guitar part. We had done this last year, with me providing the instrumental tracks, and Daryl providing lyrics and vocals which resulted in "This Weird Love". The instrumental tracks blew me away, and within an hour, I wrote the lyrics and started working on my guitar part. A day later, here is the result: https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14013775 Daryl provided synths, piano, bass, drums, and 2 guitar tracks (panned left and right), while I did vocals, lead guitar, and toms on the break. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as we did, and we welcome your responses and suggestions. As always, thanks!

  17. We'll be doing regular live streams while we are all stuck inside, not just Mark and Ryan but guest artists and other great IK folks like Dave "Squids" Kerzner - I may even do some but I'll likely do more guerrilla streams* on Reddit's RPAN or something like that They'll also give away stuff on these and this time it is AmpliTube for iOS. I won't be picking the winner so unfortunately I cannot favor anybody from here. Anyway, these are informal and if you don't know Mark Menghi he's with the band Metal Allegiance (with Alex Skolnick, Mike Portnoy, and a bevy of guitar and regular guitarists and drummers) and certainly has been impacted by the shutdown. He and many of his metal peers have had to scramble since they make their living making music so feel free to ask about that and anything else Mark (and don't forget Ryan who's obviously quite knowledgeable though probably with a bit less edge than I have ). Not sure either has the magic bullet for this situation but they're both cool guys who can talk about guitar-related (or any music-related) topics or just shoot the breeze. They'll take questions, for sure. https://www.instagram.com/ikmultimedia/ *Dibs on the band name "Guerrilla Streams"

  20. It’s funny how a balance control can throw your mix out of balance . . . but that’s just what traditional panners do. Instruments with more low frequency information will pull a mix to their side, which is most notable in headphone mixes (the way 87% of all music is currently consumed). Pan Knob solves the problems caused by traditional panners, and I really want you to experience all the creative benefits it bring to the party—so starting March 26th, Pan Knob Goes On Sale, which not only puts it in your hands for the very low price of only $14.99, but also entitles you to free updates for life. Get this awesome plugin for only $14.99 Pan Knob

  25. It's a great scratchpad if you need one. Instruments are nice sounding (sampled, think Xpand2), the workflow is very intuitive. No ASIO support, AFAIC, but still works fine with WDM. I got it bundled with M-Audio keys, so I didn't have to pay for it.

  26. Yeah, where is his highness? I jumped, SSS now this, what am I thinkin'! Anyway, quick and easy, compared to Oz 9A, dudes it sounds great! BUT, you gotta follow it with a limiter, unless Insight is joshing me. Digital overs, how do you set the output? One is the same way. With Slates FG-X, you open it up and set the max output... t

  39. Thanks for this review Simeon. The pianos in ST 4 are some of my favorites, in some cases by a wide margin. I find many of them to be very mix friendly. The first time I loaded the C-7 set I realized that I would have bought ST MAX just for the keys! Not to discount the rest of the sounds which are often very useful in mixes .

  43. Function Loops has announced that it is giving away a FREE sample pack to all those who donate to 'Save the Children | No Kid Hungry' foundations. Edvin from Function Loops told us: "This lockdown gave us plenty of time to reflect on the world situation. People are isolated in houses, businesses are closed, human habits are changing. Throughout this gray picture, there are children suffering from hunger. Because their schools were closed, and for millions of the children, the school is the place not just to learn, but also for breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner... Thus, we decided to go with the 'Save the Children | No Kid Hungry' foundations. Specifically, we want to encourage you to donate any amount to their cause. As a thank you, Function Loops will reward you with a FREE sample pack of your choice." How to claim a free Function Loops sample pack: 1. Make a donation at Save the Children | No Kid Hungry. 2. Pick your favorite sample pack (up to $19.90 USD) from functionloops.com. 3. Send the donation receipt and the name of the sample pack you've chosen to info at functionloops.com. 4. That's it! Function Loops will send you the pack with a big THANK YOU. Visit: Function Loops website

  44. As a SoundSpot fan I can say that Nebula is absolutely worth installing if you're into messing with modulation. It's a creative tool, as in, when you play with it, you'll find things to do with it that you hadn't thought of. Plus it has the gorgeous SoundSpot UI. MSW2....just got it so I can't say. MSW1 is not a go-to width manipulator for me, but they say that 2 does stereo-from-mono as well as being able to set a lowpass and then mono-izing below the lowpass, a-la Boz' Mongoose. And it has a display that shows you what's going on. And the newer SoundSpot UI look. In my quiver, it's up against the Boz/Joey Sturgis CM one, which is a hard act to follow.

  46. This is something I want to pass on considering how our lives have taken such a change. This morning I watch watching a TV special and they were saying everyone needs to find something to restore a feeling of calm in their lives. To occupy our newly acquired free time by finishing things we've left undone. So I looked around the house and found some things I really need to finish. I have started with a bottle of Merlot. ok, I found a bottle of Chardonnay too. Took some lookng but founda bodle of Baileys! groovy som wum oh and the mainder of valiums . 47. I have not lost the desire to write and record music. I'm 67 but in my musical head I'm only 24. The desire is there but the time is not. I still work a full time job and probably will until I keel over or become physical incapacitated. I won't sell any of it as my son (an accomplished musician in his own right) will simply inherit it all (and the account credentials for all the software I own).
