Now that the plate plugin has stabilized, I'm working on my other goal for v3: A stand-alone early reflections plugin. I've been wanting to do this ever since seeing Glenn Fricker's showcase in which he turned the late reverb level down to zero. The new plugin uses the same the early reflections algorithm as Dragonfly Room and Hall, but doesn't include a late reverb algorithm. You will notice the "Reflection Type" menu, which wasn't available in the Hall or Room plugins. While digging around in Freeverb3's early reflections algorithm, I found that it contained several lists of numbers representing gain levels and delay times for different reflection patterns, but the Freeverb3 plugins only used one of those settings. I decided to expose some of the other ones, and indeed they result in quite different sounds. I made up names only vaguely related to how they sound, try them all! The one called "Concert Venue" is the one used in the Freeverb3 plugins as well as Dragonfly Room and Hall. The color scheme is supposed to represent some of the pastel colors of early morning... I'm still trying to decide if I like it, but it will probably grow on me like the other plugins did. F no. Remeber, it ain't just about the product at a decent price; it's about the game of the deal (no, not the art of the deal or that pos who had it ghost written). This means getting the best d@mn deal possible in order to "win." See, I nearly got Trash 2 off kvr recently for $10, and that'd have been a great deal, but this morning I got it for $8.45. So, you know, I win. IOW, if you pay a good price and soon after see it for even just a dollar or two cheaper, you've lost the game of the deal. I don't make the rules.3 points

The price is supposed to be $199...but JRR has $99 so, if you want it, NOW is the time... but, if you are after Superior Drummer, THAT is what I, personally, would be seeking.3 points

Hello, My English being very bad, I will make it short. A little post to say to the whole cakewalk community, to all the developers, to all the people who contributed to this project, a huge thank you! What a fantastic DAW, incredible for a freeware! I hope your project will be successful and receive support and help it deserves! Thank you 1000 times and all good for the future!3 points

Hi Mario Branchi! Some forum users found out a workaround to this issue, holding Shift key while right clicking on Staff View! Best regards2 points

Hi John, I see what you mean about the beat it is quite infectious. Great song, love the brass and overall rythmic feel to this track even if it is the 12" version 😉 Thanks for sharing. Good Job! regards paul2 points

Top notch musicianship ! Those were killer grooves and mix. The songs sounded like what I listen to daily from a local college owned jazz and blues radio station featuring top artists. Very impressive .. mark2 points

Hi everyone, I just wanted to post this and make you aware of my YouTube channel that offers extensive tutorials on what was then called Sonar. These tutorials will still be useful to those of you using the newly labelled Cakewalk by BandLab software. I am adding more in depth tutorials very soon specifically on the free software of Cakewalk so please subscribe and let me know of any future tutorials you would like to see. In the meantime please follow the link below to the channel and give me some feedback MAKING CREATIVITY INSPIRE Thanks everyone!2 points

I am a Beatles obsessive and whenever a band or singer cover one of their songs I think "Oh God no"! "For No One" is one of my favourite Beatles songs and I have to say your version is fantastic. Great vocals and arrangement.2 points

I'm really impressed with the Cake team and all the updates they've put out. I don't think we got this many updates/fixes when we had to pay for it.2 points

Good call. I think I may also have had a PAS (plug-in acquisition syndrome) response to the inquiry: of COURSE this guy wants to find more plug-ins for CbB, doesn't everyone? 😄2 points

Tempo view would be nice if the tempo curve like an Automation lane with movable, selectable and tilt-able nodes. like this video. at 5:58. and please make the transform tool available for tempo view. maybe tempo track is a good solution.1 point

Hi In the old versions of Sonar we had snap in the staff view (like in piano roll) and inserting notes was much easier. But in the last versions and in Cakewalk by band lab there is no snap and you should move the Now time to the location where you want the new note by pressing SHIFT+RIGHT ARROW or SHIFT+LEFT ARROW and…This is very difficult and every one I know doesn’t like it! Don’t you want to change that in Cakewalk by band lab to the old style or design a new way so that we can insert the notes easier? William Nayeri1 point

God those up front keyboards sound good! And the percolating bass!!! The vocals obviously have a different tambre but they work because of that. They are good. Hard for one guy to be Fagan, and Michael McDonald! So glad I listened. When the lead guitar comes in, it sits purrrrfectly in that excellent mix. Or, the song itself is just so well written, any deaf monkey could throw crap on the wall and it would still sound good. No, your mix is really really good and totally worthy. Very well done!!! Want a nit? The part at 1:19, and later in the song, that McDonald bgv note is a little loud for how abruptly it ends. cheers, -Tom1 point

Couldn't get to my PC in time today otherwise it would have been a no brainer Actually for all the IK stuff I own I reckon $99 should be the standard crossgrade price!1 point

The demo video was really enticing. I'm often asked to score extreme modern dance performances like this one, with sudden violent shifts of tone. It convinced me that I'd be using this all the time. A real insta-buy no-brainer! 🙄 And game-changer.1 point

I never used this feature, so thanks for mentioning it. I just tried it several times with four different synths by right clicking in the track header area (both midi and instrument tracks). It worked for me with the recent synths I had listed. Not sure if there is a behavior preference setting somewhere that controls this. I looked but couldn't find any.1 point

Hi John, Thanks for listening and your kind comments I think i was trying to evoke a 'peggy sue got married'/'guardians of the galaxy' soundtrack feel when doing this one. Hi Tom, Thanks for listening, I know what you mean about a hybrid 60's - 80's quality + nice I put you in mind of such musical luminaries as the Style Council + Depeche Mode. Hi Steve, Thank you for listening and for the critique which I am grateful for. I will have a look at your suggestions next time I look at the track as there's always room to get better. Thank you all for listening and best wishes for your own musical travels. regards paul1 point

Louder? Overall? I dunno, how do the levels sound relative to other tracks? Very smooth bass, and the synthy pads that come and go are very subtle yet effective. The vocals carry me into a hybrid 60's - 80's quality. 60's for simplicity in the chorus, but definitely 80's in how the vocals are mixed. That might be a ludicrous observation, but there you go. It's very catchy, that chorus, Stylistically Councilled and Depeche-Modular. cheers, -Tom1 point

Well, "deals" doesn't necessarily denote a "good" deal.. lol sorry this isn't supposed to be funny1 point

And I apologize in return, it was my ***** attempt at disingenuous humor, I didn't think that you meant it as a mean joke. I was in a weird mood and posted after I had been up many hours. The more I thought about it, though, it is kind of odd to see an obituary in with "deals," isn't it?1 point

In CbB to send the same MIDI data to multiple targets either Clone the instrument/MIDI tracks and use linked clips or Use one MIDI track and a virtual MIDI cable (LoopBe1 is the best free choice for this) to drive multiple instrument/MIDI tracks.1 point

Yeah, that Bandlab Assistant is somewhat of a head scratcher and don't know why they don't work on fixing that. I've always had to manually find the update to install. A small 'price' to pay for being free....I can live with that.1 point

Probably not, according to the Presonus website: https://support.presonus.com/hc/en-us/articles/210046773-Can-I-use-my-StudioLive-as-a-control-surface- Although, as you say, they've added Logic & ProTools support. I suggest contacting PreSonus and asking them whether it supports a Mackie DAW mode.1 point

StudioOne also has a neat ability to match tempo grid to clips in arrange view. Just drag grid nodes to any spot that makes it fit. And having tempo map as a track above arrange view - and showing any change on tempo, even if that view is collapsed to really not fit all tempo changes.1 point

You may create a shortcut key to call up the Tempo Change dialog. To do so open Keyboard Shortcuts in preferences search for tempo in the Global Bindings Area assign an unused key combination to "Project | Insert Tempo Change"1 point

Use Shift-Right click. Don't move the cursor so far away that it turns into an arrow (it should be a pencil). Cntrl-Right click also works. edited to add: I think this is broken. It should work with just the right click.1 point

This is very good news Noel, to know that you are going to focus on developing better handling, video files on Cakewalk. This is probably the only aspect of the software that is lagging behind the competition, so that Cakewalk can be used in all stages of Post-Production. I love this software. I use it in conjunction with the VS-700 control surface every day professionally on TV ads, short film or album production. Unfortunately on feature films, because of the shortcomings we know, I have to fall back on ProTools which offers a greater possibility of handling video files. It's a shame, because in every other aspect of the production, Cakewalk offers a greater versatility of implementation tools, for a professional sound result. Noel, thanks again for the highly professional involvement you put into the development of Cakewalk. We feel supported.1 point
