  1. They started collecting for a Boat-Lift today. The paper listed a number of collection points, I chose the closest and was happy to see a half dozen people there making donations. I had an 8'x10' cabin tent I haven't used in a few years and figured someone without a house needs it more than I do so I donated it, along with an ice-chest cooler. I went out and bought a case of Vienna Sausages, huge pack of 30 rolls of toilet paper, and a case of D cell batteries and added that to the donation. They should be on their way to the Bahamas by tomorrow morning as long as the seas aren't too rough. Local boat owners are donating their time and fuel to cart these supplies over and give them to the people who need them. By many of us doing a little each, it will mean a lot. Notes

  2. If that is what it looks like in S1 then, yes, it looks horrible. Looks beautiful in the DAW that matters though, Cakewalk. ๐Ÿ˜

  8. I fully agree It seems to be surprising how useful are old Waves plugins. But when thinking more, if they were few years ago good to create great mixes why they should stop be useful?

  10. There were too many donations from our 3 county area for a boat lift so my tent, food and paper plus the contributions of hundreds of others are now on an ocean-going barge pulled by a tug to the Bahamas. It should get there by tomorrow. It's a good start, but our good neighbors to the east will need help for a long time to come. Notes

  11. I have recently discovered this and thanks @msmcleod for sharing the information. It is such a shame that we lost a great developer but thankfully the y were able to come up with this wonderful solution to make ASIOLink available again. My experience over the past few days has been amazing, ASIOLink has been running very solid and stable and I look forward to learning more about how to integrate it into my webcasts, tutorials, etc.. I am not finding any type of manual or instructions so I have just been bumping around looking for other resources to help understand the capabilities. I even ran across a video (5 hours long) that was very interesting (no I did not watch the entire 5 hours). Thanks for any additional insight on how to use ASIOLink Pro.

  13. No fixed rules - try it all ways. Technically I'd say without. Two emulations of the same virtual kit is not really emulating any real life (if emulations ever do), but you may hit on a magic formula between the two (and any other emulations you can throw in at the same time). Dress those channels up like a Christmas Tree (CPU permitting) - throw in all the emulations you've got.

  15. You're a champ Chuck! That's exactly what the issue was! Don't know how i managed to turn it on but there you go! To be honest I didnt even know about ripple editing but I suppose that's what happens when you use the same software for years with the same methods and dont keep an eye on what new updates bring in. Thanks matey!

  17. I think subs like this are a great opportunity for hobbyists to: a) thoroughly test plugins; b) finish a project, committing changes and then cancelling subscription till the next time.

  19. The easiest way is to use Ripple Editing to accomplish this. Here is a video.

  20. Yup, it is logical not to let plugin to be in state when user cannot access controls of plugin container. It could lead to cut user away of possibility to change anything at container level. And this requires better design and implementation of plugins to take it into account. This is why I was grumbling about GUI

  21. I found this plugin when I got the Gold bundle back in the day. I use it still. And some of them plugins are really butt-ugly compared to today's colorful standards. But back then, these were cutting edge!! And despite being butt-ugly, they are still very useful. And at the prices we are getting them today...... no-brianer.

  22. It could be hard to answer... Personally I am not very impressed so far to be honest. Trying it on 22 unprocessed tracks. Even without any touch changes can be heard and it is adding a little clearance but I am not always picking processed one as preferred in blind test Because it is little over-simplistic it is hard to test (no way to change setting for group of instances at the same time like in NLS or SlateVCC) what is painful as need to do every instance separately (even to change flavor US -> BR ). I would disagree, Brian, Using it on 22 tracks I needed to add gain plugin to decrease output (easier to test switching FX button and turning off all instances together with gain plug). While in Sonar there are no issues as in S1 I dislike how it looks inside plugin container because it like something not matching plugin container. Of course it is partially (?) issue of Sonar's plugin container itself. I can manually resize it to have it nice but any try to resize increasing canvas instantly (Sonar, I mean CbB, is forcing to have all plugin container controls visible). Plus is they implemented resizing and maybe in other DAWs it is working decently? Anyway considering it is for free by now and changing 'colors' in different way I am glad to have it. Hoping they will improve its workflow in mass operations (especially groups are very welcome). Otherwise in my case it will never be used on many tracks at once, too many time wasted to check different settings. But because I never mixed on real console my opinion about sound is worth like just my taste. Maybe analog mixers could say a word about its sound?

  24. If you've disabled any settings on the Visual Effects tab in Windows 'Performance Options' or chosen 'Adjust for Best Performance', change it to 'Adjust for Best Appearance'. The Now Time cursor depends on some of these graphics features to render properly, and there is really no performance benefit to be gained in Cakewalk by disabling any of them in my experience.

  27. Good song. Agree with Tom about the polish. On the system I was listening on here at work the hi-hats were too up-front though out the song. As I was listening I kept thinking an strumming acoustic guitar would fill this out some more. But your vocal performance in this was really good. Like others have said, that was a keeper. This has the making of a really good song. Good verses and catchy chorus. It would be worth it to get it updated.

  30. If one is going to post in a thread one should keep things as much on topic as is possible. If one has other things to fix or add to the program a new thread is the proper way to propose them.

  32. Grem: Hey, Grem, How's it going, buddy? Hope your gearing up for a great weekend!๐Ÿ‘ Thanks so much for lending your very good ears to this one for me, and also for your input, good observations and encouraging comments!๐Ÿ˜€ I know what you mean about the drum fills. Not really being a drummer, the drums are always the hardest part for me, and LOL, ๐Ÿ˜€ believe it or not, my wife is always on me about the drum fills being awkward and way overdone! For the main parts of the song I usually just try to play what I'm hearing in my head, keeping a fairly simple, steady beat on either my Yamaha drum pads or my M-Audio KeyRig, and track just the kick, snare and hi-hats first, and then I add the fills and crashes, etc later. Sometimes this can lead to some pretty awkward drum tracks! ๐Ÿ˜€ Thankfully, the guys here on the forum (and on the old forum) usually point out where I went too crazy and I try to fix things up. I'm still on the fence about that semi awkward fill right before the bridge on this one, and might end up simplifying and smoothing it out a bit. Thanks again, Grem, I truly appreciate you taking time to listen to my stuff and provide excellent input, observations and suggestions, and I'm very grateful for your friendship and support!๐Ÿ‘ Have a Rockin' weekend, buddy! 35. NI has had update subscriptions before actually, long long ago. But they only did it for a year or so. You basically pre-paid for the a year of upgrades to Komplete. I don't think they are going subscriptions on software anytime soon. The Loop Loft stuff (sounds.com) maybe, the Machine expansions, maybe, but not the rest. In past things like this (NI has done this a few times actually) what usually happens is they kill off a bunch of amazing and great products in favor of some stuff you have no interest in. Most likely this means more hardware/mobile phone nonsense and less improve Kontakt so it doesn't suck.

  36. On Topic (: - I have been working with Noel for a while on the Waves - lost perimeters. I have been randomly losing plugin settings for about 2 years! No rhyme or reason why. It is now a pure joy not to have to save the file every 5 min and worry if the plugin perimeters would be recalled. I am so grateful to have this fix. I received emails all hours of the night from Noel as he worked on this bug. I'm pretty sure many of the email weren't sent between 9-5 I realize it only affected a few users, but I am one of those. There was also a Pro Q3 lost envelope that happened sometime that seemed to get fixed as well. Thanks! Now - back to making some music!

  37. I'm pretty much set with Waves plugins, but 2 for $27.28? Took me some time to pick two out. I settled on a couple of toys, Vitamin Sonic Enhancer and MondoMod. I doubt they'll offer anything that I can't do or can't do better with the Soundtoys bundle. But what the hey.

  41. Thank you guys. It's not a "metal" song, but I tried to be true to the song that puped up when trying to sleep. Do anyone of you get that? Max marting got "Hit me, baby, one omre thime" that way. He recorded it on a small tape recorder. And noone wantet it before he showed it the the pre production of Britheys first album.Funny right? But for me it is important to always record or at least take notes on songs I get at night.

  42. Just a quick heads up for anyone using Melodyne 4.22. I opened Melodyne Editor this morning and it said "program expired - contact Celemony". This is a bug in the current version on certain systems. Celemony have already posted a fix. Log into your account and download 4.23.

  43. I've given this a quick test... The great news is that it is indeed latency free. The CPU usage is increased only very slightly, but my projects play exactly as before and are still happily working with a buffer of 64 (1.5ms). I didn't try recording, but playing a piano VSTi through it showed absolutely no change in latency. The bad news is that you can only select one "real" ASIO interface, so additional interfaces have to be selected as WDM and routed to the ASIOLink ASIO driver like ASIO4ALL does. I've not worked out how to select WASAPI instead yet, but it does claim to support it. It's not really a big deal though for recording whole bands, and it does mean you don't need to swap drivers/modes all the time. And unlike ASIO4ALL, you can save & recall your routing configurations. What I've not tried yet is using other interfaces with ASIO on another PC and using the network interface. I'm only set up for WiFi in my studio at the moment, so I don't think that would be a fair test. If/when I get the chance to try it out, I'll post my findings...
