  1. As a guitar player with a lot of guitars and a TON of guitar virtual instruments--and a big Audiofier fan--I have been watching Riffendium closely since it came out. Still.... I wavered on buying it when the first versions and the ambient versions came out and I wavered on this deal. I'm SO glad I got this. It's amazing. If they come out with an acoustic version, I am sure I will get that. But I bet Audiofier knows that. 😃 Make sure you read the manual and learn how to install all the snapshots, because they really make it. The only negative for me is that I will be messing with this instead of working on my new music project. 😟

  7. Bread Kills! 1. More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users. 2. Fully half of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests. 3. In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole nations. 4. Every piece of bread you eat brings you nearer to death. 5. Bread is associated with all the major diseases of the body. For example, nearly all sick people have eaten bread. The effects are obviously cumulative: q 99.9% of all people who die from cancer have eaten bread. q 100% of all soldiers have eaten bread. q 96.9% of all Communist sympathizers have eaten bread. q 99.7% of the people involved in air and auto accidents ate bread within 6 months preceding the accident. q 93.1% of juvenile delinquents came from homes where bread is served frequently. 6. Evidence points to the long-term effects of bread eating: Of all the people born since 1839 who later dined on bread, there has been a 100% mortality rate. 7. Bread is made from a substance called “dough.” It has been proven that as little as a teaspoon of dough can be used to suffocate a lab rat. The average American eats more bread than that in one day! 8. Primitive tribal societies that have no bread exhibit a low incidence of cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, and osteoporosis. 9. Bread has been proven to be addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water to eat begged for bread after as little as two days. 10. Bread is often a “gateway” food item, leading the user to “harder” items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter, and even cold cuts. 11. Bread has been proven to absorb water. Since the human body is more than 90 percent water, it follows that eating bread could lead to your body being taken over by this absorptive food product, turning you into a soggy, gooey bread-pudding person. 12. Newborn babies can choke on bread. 13. Bread is baked at temperatures as high as 400 degrees Fahrenheit! That kind of heat can kill an adult in less than one minute. 14. Most bread eaters are utterly unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless statistical babbling. 15. In light of these frightening statistics, we propose the following bread restrictions: q No sale of bread to minors. q A nationwide “Just Say No To Toast” campaign, complete celebrity TV spots and bumper stickers. q A 300 percent federal tax on all bread to pay for all the societal ills we might associate with bread. q No animal or human images, nor any primary colors (which may appeal to children) may be used to promote bread usage. q The establishment of “Bread-free” zones around schools.

  9. There's 21 hours left on this deal so I thought I would get it while I can for volume 2 & 3 (already have vol 1) but I cannot login. EDIT: I checked what I did last time this happened and I used the automated password reset which worked again this time. So if you have the same issue try that first.

  11. Returning to topic...Bapu is going to have to do this all over again with his new cans. He's been in the game long enough to know that better playback does not instantly mean better mixes, but that it will over time. Any time you change your environment, you have to acclimate your ears all over again. Recently I added a headphone amplifier to my setup, not for mixing but for kicking-back-in -the-dark-with-a-doobie focused listening. Those bedtime sessions have long been my final approval for any new mixes. Away from the computer, listening intently without visual feedback, I hear flaws in my mix that weren't evident while sitting in front of the screen. The headphone amp was more impactful than I'd expected, a significant improvement. But different. So my homework this past week has been listening to past references, pulling up every recording I've valued for quality. Sure, it's a sacrifice, but one I'm willing to make in the interest of better mixes.

  13. It looks to me like the Nucleus modules are pretty much duplicates of the Ignite included modules, with the possible exception of Attenuverter. So if you somehow got hold of Ignite with fewer modules at some early point the Nucleus freebie may give you some new modules--maybe look at it as a free upgrade to Ignite from something less. On the other hand they are offering the upgrade from Voltage Ignite to Voltage Core (in spite of the odd name Core is the more complete full version) for $25 on their site. Which gives you an additional 47(?) modules if you already own Ignite plus Electro Drums (ED)--whatever the heck that is. And if you do not own any version of Voltage, the Core version +ED is on sale for $50 on the Cherry Audio Store site and less at some distributors. If you want to go insane jiggering with modular synthesis without spending thousands on analog modules, this is definitely the way to do it.

Hopefully you can listen to it now and enjoy it musically without the content getting in the way. Flame away. 🙂 https://johnbowen.bandcamp.com/track/understand ❤️John B

  16. Thanks! I frequently try things that are new to me based on issues others have. This discussion now makes more sense to me. Than ks for raising the question, for the replies, and for the dialog. In case its not clear from the size of the 4 screen shots, the arrow in the customized smart tool button is shaded, while the one before (not-customized) is solid. 19. Personally, I would move the clips out of the tracks and put them into take lanes under one track. You can then mute / comp as you see fit to build up a single track. You also have the advantage of all of your takes being kept in the lanes just in case you change your mind later.

  22. Never warmed up to Reaktor. It is a powerful platform. Blocks is NI answer to the new modular synths coming from manufacturers like Softube, Cherry Audio and VCV. I played around with the first generation of Block but it was little more than a minor UI update. The latest version works a little better but I still prefer the Cherry Audio and VCV workflow. If I was just starting out with Voltage Modular, the Core+Drums and One Year Collection is a decent deal for $150. Never thought about buying Individual modules, bundles are a better deal. But it may be better to cherry pick the more expensive bundles for the modules that fit what one is trying to do.

  23. I use Mixbus standard from time to time for audio mixing and mastering but the MIDI is absolutely horrible!!!!!!! It does have a warmness and character to it that I don't quite get from my other DAWs.

  24. Yes, there are two plug-in host modules. This is the description full size module (there is "mini" version of this module with fewer controls). It supports VST2 and VST3 plug-ins. Note the "Big Disclaimer" in the link. I have a problem with the hosts retaining Eventide settings but so far they are the only plug-ins I have with this trouble. Don't use Waves plug-ins. Suspect they are part of the reason for the "Big Disclaimer." The Core+Drum deal at their store is here. Resellers may have it for a few dollars less. As nice as it is, I have to wonder how well it compete again VCV Rack when it is released as a VST. I believe VCV Rack VST is due near the end of the year.

  28. CbB 2019-07 has two sets of icons for the smart tool, a solid arrow and hollow arrow. I toyed with the idea of deviating from the Mercury images but in the end decided to keep them altering the colors the same as all previous mods.

  29. I get my songs distributed using http://amuse.io. It's a free service, and they don't even take royalties for it - and I have received payment for my streams and downloads, so it's completely legit as well. And I've been checking out your more recent stuff through Soundcloud as well, still pumping out the quality tunes!

  30. Thanks! This is the answer... Never thought the icons were part of the customizable theme. Yes, I use @scook 's Mercury Light Green theme in my primary DAW. That's why it has star icon. It has SONAR label coz it is default themed Sonar Plat installed side by side with CbB in my secondary DAW. I took the screenshot out of Splat just to show how the icons look like, so I don't have to switch DAW just to make the screenshot (I posted from my secondary DAW).. Thanks for the info bro!

  33. Very enjoyable. I relly enjoy the melody. Sounds like your tempo varies a bit at places, but that's OK. I have to ask you what synth is your lead instrument? I've been looking for a sound like that for quite awhile. Is it a freebie in Cakewalk? 🙂
