  1. That's how I've been playing this game. Seems the old version always comes up on this...Vegas 16 is next...

  3. The one I have is EW composer Cloud and I think I get good value as they keep adding quality new content and I find a lot of useful stuff in libraries I would not have bought outright. I bought an air bundle for very little and don't see what they currently offer and their record of new releases would make the sub worth while.

  4. I doubt I would use the rest of the bundle, but $25 to upgrade from Sound Forge Pro 11 to 12 seems pretty reasonable, and puts me only one version behind. Thanks for the tip.

  5. I'd been wondering why projects that used to play comfortably were now starting to use up more CPU, and in some cases cause clicks & pops / dropouts. Turns out that one of the recent Windows updates had turned Game Mode on.... So yet another thing to look out for after running updates!

  7. While Ed (Ed 2?) should have come in first, he just didn't commit to his answer so, our big winner is Bayou Bill! NOTHING happened on October 10th, 1582 (or on any day from October 5th thru the 14th in the year 1582), because those dates never existed! As part of migrating from the Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, those dates were skipped to bring the dates back in line with the seasons since the Earth actually takes 365.2425 days to make a year. For his efforts, Bill is awarded a handful of becan seeds! Enjoy Bill! 😁

  10. Yes, 'Zero Controllers when Play Stops' (mentioned in the list) in MIDI preferences will do that with synths that use Modulation and/or Expression to control volume (the classic example is Garritan/Aria Player). If you don't want to disable the setting, adding Modulation (CC0) and Expression (CC11) events with nominal values at the start of the track for Cakewalk to ' search back' on will take care of it.

  11. Maybe they are going by the "If ain't broke - don't fix it" mantra...IDK. I agree, they could, at the bare minimum rework some of the other interfaces like they did with those!

  15. What is wrong with Acid Pro 8? I have Acid Pro 7, and it seems like a good deal to upgrade and get 64 bit for $25. Not to mention SF Pro 12.

  20. Asterisk by color name means you changed a color from it's default set. Saving the colorset with a new name makes it easier to identify. The default color sets are carryovers from pre-X days when all colors could be changed. X series removed some colors from user edits while still being listed in Preferences causing confusion & frustration. Even so, a user could still load a colorset from a pre-X version into an X version and regain some of those changes... with mixed results. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Dialogs2.075.html Note: If you customize a color in the Preferences dialog box, it will override the corresponding color in the UI theme (see Customization - Themes). If you change the UI theme, any custom colors will be lost, and the corresponding UI theme colors will be used instead. Be sure to save any custom colors as a color preset if you don't want to lose them when switching UI themes. The underlined part is not always true. Track View Control Text and Values affects Take Lane notes text. In my current theme it's YELLOW regardless of what theme I pick. TE says it's WHITE but Preferences says it's YELLOW. In this case Preferences overrides TE and it cannot be changed in TE. Follow the text in bold above.

  24. Ben, Thanks for the reply and FIX ! Couldn't be more excited to try the Early Release version when posted. I was a beta tester for the Cakewalk Pro Audio Version 5 & 6 cycles back in the day. Always happy help out and have more time now that I am retired from my "day job". Regards to the 'Bakers'. I appreciate their commitment to Cakewalk all these years. P.S. What is "OP"? Regards, Roger

  25. That's how I've always done it.....I always reference the date and adhere to the same naming convention. IE:...."Rock guitar chord progression_081419"......."Organ riff for new song_081419" A good day to all....

  29. I think we all suffer from that and until that initial idea/progression evolves into something more meaningful, it stays with the initial name. I generally use the name of a patch or preset when starting off.

  30. Enter an RPN Kind of event, and change the Data value to 0. When you save the change, it will end up reading as Pitch Bend Sensitivity. Cakewalk does this with other commonly used control events like CC64 which presents as '64-Pedal (sustain)' for ease of recognition.

  33. I get that if I start CbB before turning on my audio interface. Then I have to go in and re-set the audio drivers in preferences. I just try to remember to turn the interface on first, so that CbB sees it on startup. Hope that helps.

  38. Great value for the bundle! I like these two. L'otary probably does not do the dirty side as well a Melda's Vintage rotary (my favourite) but it's very versatile. The scanner is useful as a different type of chorus device. Most Hammond VSTi / Libraries have these built in but its nice to have one with a different character and of course you can use them on all sorts of sounds, the scanner sounds very good on clean guitar parts.

  39. Hey Roger, Thanks so much for raising this topic again. I completely agree with your assessment of the Playlist feature. I too have been a faithful Cakewalk customer since DOS days, and I've got you beat by two years (69) as someone still using Cakewalk exclusively for my studio and live performances. I actually bailed on the playlist even before Sonar 1 because of it's quirkiness and lack of attention. Sadly enough, I have been using "Virtual Jukebox" from Cakewalk 9 as my goto for live playback of Cakewalk files. It's not pretty, and certainly limited, and until recently it required me to keep an old computer with WinXp running so I could use it on the gig. I managed to install Cakewalk 9 on a 64bit Win 10 machine using the compatabilty mode and the Virtual Jukebox function works! That barebones program uses very little real estate on the screen and allows you to jump around fairly easily. Unfortunately, every song for live use that I have recorded since Sonar thru Cakewalk by Bandlab, has had to be mixed down, exported as .wav files, inserted into Cakewalk 9, saved as a .wrk file before I can use it in the Virtual Jukebox app. PITA!!! I absolutely agree that the Playlist could be such a great feature to an already great program. With the ability to play audio and midi data simultaneously, and add vst and vsti configurations and routing with each song, it could easily compete with Logic's Main Stage on the Mac, or Cantibile, or Abelton Live for that matter. It seems Cakewalk has no interest in people who want to use their product on stage, and not just in the studio. What a shame, seems like a market that would have some value. I have asked for this many times in the past and would be thrilled if they even made an attempt to clean up what they already have, let alone make it better. Come on Noel, cut us seniors some slack here!!! Thanks Bill Lombardi

  42. This isn't something Noel can fix. If anybody could do anything, it would have to be NI. The issue is that synths often report inconsequential "changes", which could be something as trivial as playing back a patch that has parameters modulated by a random envelope generator. Cakewalk has no way of knowing whether change flags are important or not, so it honors all of them without bias.
