  2. Check out RipChord - this is a freebie VST3 from Trackbout. It's like the chord portion of Cthulhu (no arpeggiator) but even easier to use. And there is a community of folks offering their chord presets for use in the program. Here it is: https://trackbout.com/ripchord

  3. We had that decades ago with the audio view. While editing and zoomed in I think its much more convenient to be able to seek right where you see the peaks of the audio rather than going to the time ruler. Most of the time when auditioning edits I tend to be doing things visually rather than looking at the timeline so its a time saver (pun intended)

  5. Thanks for the great feedback and reports all. We now have an early access hotfix build available that fixes known reported problems so far. If you are affected by any of the issues listed go ahead and install the build. Its identical to the 07 release with just these changes. We plan to release the final hotfix a little later after we address a few more issues. Please continue to give us feedback on this release in this thread. New option to enable/disable setting the now time during playback via Track View Options > Click Behavior > Set During Playback @Walter Treppler and @btbrock this new option should allow you to switch back to your workflow.

  12. I use VLC, does what I need it to, but I'm by no means a power user. Basically as long as it plays I don't really care exactly what is playing it.

  13. I wouldn't use them myself. I always give this out, it explains various plans pretty well. Unless you're making allot of sales each year I wouldn't go with an annual fee (subscription) type of distribution plan. https://aristake.com/post/cd-baby-tunecore-ditto-mondotunes-zimbalam-or

  16. For me that's ... 99USD minus JRR discount = 84USD to go from O8S -> O8A ... that's very nearly £3000 thanks to likelihood of no-deal Brexit jdf

  17. We're in the same club. I've been very happy with my two FW interfaces (TC Electronic and Steinberg)... In fact I've never even owned a USB interface, having moved from PCI (my last was an Echo Gina 3G) to Firewire. Once I got the right PCIe FW add-on card, it truly has been plug and play -- no jumping through hoops or any tweaks necessary for rock solid performance. My next upgrade will be to Thunderbolt, probably in 2-3 years... Until then, I'll be chugging along worry-free with my "outdated" Firewire units!

  18. Here's another good one. The UI isn't the greatest, but I like the crunchy distortion on these, and DEFINITELY worth $5! https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/2-Effects/18-Amp-Simulator/2067-inValve-Effects

  21. I love this hot fix! Cakewalk has kept its promise to those of us who bought the lifetime updates back in the day. There's not many companies that's as responsive to their users as CW. Thanks, Noel to you and all the gang that have stayed with us throughout the years.

  22. With Sound on Sound, that is total B.S. They run plenty of reviews from companies that don't advertise. You're also overlooking a very important fact about demographics. Advertisers advertise in a magazine because they believe the readers are the target demographic for their product. Similarly, magazines want to review products that are of interest to their readership. The two often coincide. Having edited magazines, the single, most important factor in success is to have readers. Otherwise, a magazine is of no value to advertisers. We'd often run articles that we felt would appeal to the readers, regardless of whether a company advertised or not. It brought up the number of readers for those companies that did advertise. Sound on Sound supports CbB every month, by publishing my column (which has run since Sonar was introduced). These cover the incremental improvements in a way that a once-every-few-years review cannot. This also proves my point regarding Bouwer's comments. Not only does BandLab not advertise CbB in Sound on Sound, it costs the magazine to cover CbB because they pay me to write the articles. But, they believe covering CbB every month is important to their readers.

  25. In this day and age, Normalizing should absolutely be non-destructive. It would make sense to tie this into that Per-Clip "Static Gain" parameter I've been lobbying for. 😁 There are many cases (when mixing), where I'll use static gain changes (per clip) to even out a vocal performance. Yes, Clip Envelopes work... but it's slow (compared to a Static Gain/Normalize parameter).

  27. Well, the USB C on the 4i4 also supports a native Thunderbolt driver which is amazing that it is forward compatible with the high speed ports. I am praying for some projects to come to allow me to upgrade my production computer I do think that Thunderbolt, USB C are definitely the future and what an amazing one it potentially can be.

  28. I'm almost annoyed that I already have it and that it was also free. That's how good it is to get Iris 2 for nothing.

  29. True...at least this time it wasn't because I was late getting the column in But I will say CbB takes a lot fewer breaks than some of the other DAWs, because when the column isn't in an issue, people write to SOS and say "I sure hope you're not getting rid of the Cakewalk column."

  30. Normalization is still an essential process for narration (and often vocals) when doing phrase-by-phrase normalization, because of being able to assign to keyboard shortcuts and move super-fast compared to using clip envelopes. You also don't get the artifacts involved with dynamics processing. CbB's normalization is particularly useful because it doesn't force 0 as the limit - you can normalize to any level. The best workaround is to create a macro that bounces a clip to itself, and then normalizes, with one shortcut.

  31. I went with the inValve Effects! $3.35 total with some virtual cash! 😀 I kept waffling on Iris 2 but this deal is simply too good to pass up! Was hoping to get MCabinet there but no dice, probably because it's new.

  36. When I heard this song I searched thru 12 pages to hear more from you. Just Saying .... Now , I have a friend who sings his heart out when trying out a new song in a live venue . Put him in a sterile studio with the same song and he can't sing. He isn't dynamic and his vocal range just leaves. I think he worries to much about popping the mic , etc.. Put some mood lighting on him , give him a full length mirror, and the difference is night and day. Vocal range is even better and not as pitchy. I do have to melodyne some but he and anyone else hearing it is impressed. He felt really shy doing this at first but got over it. I know this is a "F....d" up suggestion ! nothing to lose by trying it ... mark

  37. I don't mind the new behaviour, My idea woud be to have the ESC key as a universal deselect shortcut - I don't think it's used for anything else and is easy to find without releasing the mouse for righties.

  39. Hi Rik, Thanks for giving this tune a listen . I did give your tune a listen . It sounded good . Hi Starise , Constantly learning and working on my chops seems to be an area of music where I get a little satisfaction . Then the next day it's all like what just happened ? My fingers just got a case of instant amnesia.... lol ... FWIW , what ever progress I've made on the guitar always feels mercurial to me . Yes, I hope to keep on sharing wit Y'all ... thank you for your support and encouragement . Cool Beans , Hi Larry ! I'm glad you gave this clip of mine a listen . Thank you for taking the time to comment . all the best, Kenny

  41. It is frustrating when an installer will crap all over the place even when you tell it not to. I rarely update AAS and IK stuff because of this. The only install manager that complains to me when removing the AAX plug-ins is XLN - it will say the install(s) needs to be repaired 🤨

  47. It pays to look in the accounts sometimes, see if there is any new things been added. I recently wanted to update my K10U to K12U but the way native access forces you to download straight to the DAW didn't work out for me as I have atrocious unfixable internet at home at the moment. I returned it and got a full refund after a bit of a fight. I went recently went to my NI account and found although they had deleted the K12U from my account, the synths from K12U were still there with serial numbers. I queried this and they said it was an apology because K12U didn't work out for me, way to go Native Instruments!
