5. The last few days I have been working on one of Grems original songs as I was invited too collaborate on this amazing song. In all honestly it is one of the most beautiful I have heard in a long time and was honoured. Im sure Grem will chime in on the back story of the song - terminal illness 😞 This is a mix down and I would value your opinions on the vocal and mix and is a work in progress and asked Grem if if I could ask you all for opinions. Thanks In advance as always.

 7. Yes worth getting Mesh and only ~60Mb. I wouldn't have paid anywhere near 36 USD for it but it's okay for a freebie. It's worth taking a moment to read the PDF manual to set up the snapshots. This gives you access to 11 snapshots. It's just a simple case of copying the snapshot folder to the correct location.

 8. It was an honor to participate in this. We often forget how fast time flies by and songs like these help us to not take for granted the simple moments that are so valuable. I look forward to working together again.

 10. This is a song that the lyrics were wrote by a friend of mine that was going through an illness that eventually took her away from us. I used EZ Keys to come up with the song's chord progression. I also added the vocals to it. I then asked Simeon to play the piano part instead of using the EZ Keys stuff, and also asked if he could add some strings. Well he took this song and turned it into a beautiful piece of music. He did a fantastic job. I came up with, recorded a vocal part and was able to let my friend listen to what she inspired and contributed to before she lost her battle. But I couldn't give it the emotion that it really needed. So I asked Gary to help out and he accepted. He has done what I believe to be a fantastic job and can not thank him enough for the enthusiasm and talent he gave in his contribution to this project. He also did the mix! Much better than I had done. This is dedicated to you Dina, RIP girl.

 16. The vertical bar that moves with the playhead is often referred to as Now. Here are a couple of ways to move Now using the keyboard - Ctrl+Page Up and Ctrl+Page Down move Now time forward or back one measure To move Now in smaller increments using the keyboard may be done by binding CAL scripts. Here are a couple of scripts to copy into files in the CAL folder and bind to keystrokes ;; Name: Now Forward.CAL (do (+= Now 30) ) and ;; Name: Now Backward.CAL (do (int offset 30) (if (< Now offset) (= Now 0) (-= Now offset) ) ) The 30 in both scripts is 30 ticks. By default, CbB is set to 960 ticks per quarter note. Adjust the values to suit or create multiple scripts for different values and bind to different key combinations.

 18. I agree, but my hope for now is that they'll be "virtual stickies," that is, people will keep finding good freeware and posting them, which will bump the thread to the top. And if we keep the quality of the recommendations high, and stay on topic, we may very well wind up getting stickied anyway. Or the content may be used in a sticky. Maybe there is so much great freeware available that you can get close to putting together your own "Cakewalk Platinum" by substituting freeware for the premium content. Maybe not, but it's a fun idea. Cakewalk Aluminum, maybe? This, for sure. I see people asking about where to find a good Rhodes or drum kit or strings plug-in, and wonder if they've even tried them. The Rhodes is really good, the drum kit is good if you go through the sounds and find the sampled kit you like and then fiddle with the onboard FX and most importantly for any canned drums, mess with your velocities! Especially on the hi hat. The strings are good enough that I might not have bought the Sonivox Orchestral Companion if I had already had them. One of the problems with the Studio Instruments may be the interface, which I find makes it difficult to audition the soundsets. It's not immediately clear how to get at all the different kits or basses or pianos or string sounds. The Strings for instance, has synth pads and other different samples included, not just the default chamber orchestra, the Bass has synth basses, acoustic, fretless, and so on. There are at least a dozen different sampled drum kits, both acoustic and electronic.

 20. I build a new PC every 2 years or so to keep things stable and new. I know this might not be practical for everyone because of costs, but my last build was back in May of 2016. Only reason I haven't built another is because this particular build has been rock solid. Apple make great products no doubt and I've wanted to get a MAC to try out logic myself. Im just having great results using a PC, so why fix what is not broke. that's my 2 cents anyway.

 21. https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/middle-of-nowhere this song i posted a while back, and decided to re-track all the guitars and bass. it is an unmastered mix. i'd like some feedback on the way the kick and bass translate. also level of guitars vs levels of vox. stuff like that. i have finished writing all the material for what will be my 4th full length album release. i have a bit of tracking left on only one song. i hope to post final mixes on all the songs before i master it and put it out there.

 22. heya! I've been playing around with this daw for a while now and one thing that i do think could be improved is the step sequencer. I think there should be a way to either directly drag in audio samples onto the sequencer or to have some sort of sampler put individual samples into. I also think that you should be able to mix these samples individually when you put them into the step sequencer. what do you guys think? let me know in the comments!

 23. yes, there are many ways to do it all but I will explain why most people use 100% wet for their reverb bus. If it is not set to 100% wet, then you are actually hearing 3 things: 1. your dry channel 2. your reverb return 3. dry coming via return which is delayed for the reverb unit's AD/DA latency... which means you are hearing your dry signal twice which could result in comb filtering.

 24. Sounds like some parts of your system - heck why not get the whole house in one shot - could use a good EXORCISM, to get rid of those demons. Maybe it fixed itself, because it had what it needed to work right all along, and just needed to believe in itself. Bob Bone

 40. Actually, there's two other options I totally forgot about. WDM is a much better alternative to MME, and will give you much better latency. Another thing you could try is ASIO4All, which basically wraps the WDM driver up as an ASIO driver. You may get much better performance using this method. http://www.asio4all.org/

 41. Big thumbs up for the Tyrell N6 from u-he... Great sound, quite a few free presets available, and it's skinnable. It's not quite as good as Zeta+2, but it's really close (and free!) It's a" must have" freebie. If you find a sound that seems a bit flat, just turn on the Chorus at the bottom and instant epic fatness 😍

 42. Hello Richard and folks, I use to run my SONAR from a laptop for years, and just like you I was P. O'd, finally my rep at Sweetwater "Dave Brow", suggested that I buy a Sweetwater Creation Station, so I did, I purchased the Sweetwater Creation Station v5 with an Intel 7700 cpu, 32Gb of RAM with upto 64Gb MAX, support for 3 monitors which I actually run, and I have been happy ever since, seriously get yourself a Creation Station or at least check it out first. 43. I think I have that same Mac Mini model. I originally purchased it for my Dad to use for online banking. Then it hit end of life when the MacOS couldn't be updated due to the hardware, and the hardware couldn't be upgraded, etc. Then his bank started to block his out of date Safari browser. Then I couldn't find a current version of Chrome or Firefox that would install on that version of MacOS. So I swapped it out with a new ChromeBox. That's really all that was needed for getting online with an up to date browser. Now that Mac Mini makes a great paperweight. I suppose I could find some use for it, but I haven't decided yet, LOL!

 44. I had the exact opposite issue, my mac ran fine until Apple kept telling me I needed to update the OS to keep it supported. I eventually made the mistake of upgrading it then it became so slow it was un-useable. This also happened to my iPad, needed to upgrade the OS in order to support the apps. Not very happy with Apple products, mine are so slow they are completely un-usable. I've had the same Windows/Intel desktop for years without issues. The mac is now happily running Linux.

 45. Normally one would set up a reverb bus, with the desired reverb set to all wet. Then use sends from the tracks you want to add reverb to. You can then adjust how much reverb added to each track by adjusting the send levels. For example, I don't tend to add much, if any, reverb to bass tracks. You can then adjust the overall level of reverb using the buss. HTH

 46. NovatrAC Free download here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dLmxFn6ZG5h3iA8FN7Fyn9FblXLqWyId?usp=sharing&fbclid=IwAR1AT1r-pP_SvASo4vNmUUL2B-NttvkADwPkFdmM_QPs5i13tDj0BC5NZZA Today I present my new Theme > NovatrAC <. While AnalogConsole is a quite sober theme for long mixing sessions, NovatrAC is a bit like sweet candy. It's inspired by the unrivaled creative Plug-Ins of Kush Audio TM (thanx Gregory / UBK 😉 !). Hope you like it!
