  2. I tend to chime in on this subject. If you have a computer that will run it (it is selective about hardware and sytems capabilites). I'd agure it is among the best on the market. A tier above Vegas in my experience. That being said, Vegas will run on older Windows machines that Resolve won't even open on .

  3. Sorry, all my fellow hippie dreamers, but here's how open source and shareware typically go... Cool Edit Pro (shareware) -> Adobe Audition (buy once) -> Adobe CC (subscription only). Yes, sometimes it does go the other way. The MP3 encoder is an example of that, but it's atypical. CbB users would do well to reflect on what a great deal they're getting.

  4. Guys, I just noticed the thread is being locked, but stepping in here to give my two cents and hopefully a final word on this thread. Though in the history of the internet (or humanity!) there has never been a situation in which the words "Calm down" ever succeeded in calming things down 😂, I just want to make an honest plea that we try and keep the forum friendly, because it could overshadow the importance of why threads like this are posted in the first place. --- The original comment from @Davydh was that this video was sad to see, and I 100% agree. Any time a user is disappointed by, or has experienced disappointment whilst using one of our products/platforms/services, no matter what the reason or cause, our fault or not - it's disappointing and I am personally sad to have been part of that in some way - even more so if we are personally responsible. I'm happy for people to disagree with my opinion, but hopefully being someone who is directly affected by it means it has some weight - I think it's worth going on record to say my thoughts are that there wasn't any negative intent from Scott at @ChernobylStudios - his video was one of passion, frustration and disappointment, but that's very different to actively trying to disparage the company out of ill intent. I want to go on record too to stress that in all the communication I have seen from Scott with us (as BandLab), he has consistently been passionate, respectful, detailed and always wanting to make things better with suggestions that would benefit all users, not just himself. Since our relaunch, as he correctly pointed out, we have not had yet a policy in which we could compensate creators like himself - he spoke in his livestream of truly loving Cakewalk, caring about it and wanting it to succeed, and I think the proof is in the pudding in the videos he had personally spent the time creating (uncompensated) over the last 12 months since we took over. I sincerely doubt he would actively spend hours of his own personal time creating content that helps people all around the world with a sinister motive down the road. For what he has contributed positively to the CbB community around the world, I don't think it is controversial at all to say that I am grateful and appreciative. Do I wish the cancellation video & subsequent livestream wasn't public? Of course! As someone within the company, the only thing I'd love to see out there is flowers and rainbows (and I am thankful for all of you who have been part of this, spreading the word positively across the internet), but I'm equally a firm believer that every user should be entitled to voice his/her opinion and thoughts in the same way we can do anywhere else on the internet - praise always makes one happier, but criticism is more often than not what makes us better. --- To be clear, the facts of the matter are that he seems to have had a serious issue with VST settings not saving and resetting whilst using CbB and this is a real dealbreaker for us. This is incredibly concerning, and unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at your glass) we, and our extended testing team, have not been able to reproduce this on any of our devices/tests/attempts to do so. From what he described in his video, it sounds like it is not to do with VST2->VST3 persistence, so if it is really the case that something within our code is causing VST settings not to save, this is a big deal and I want to stress to everyone here that this isn't something we take lightly. We are doing everything we can to figure this out and address it as we do with every serious bug report. As per @Morten Saether's post above, this post is also an active call for anyone who has experienced this before and can replicate it to get in touch so that we can try and figure out what is causing it and ensure it doesn't happen again to any other user. --- Finally, it's also important for me to emphasise that just because CbB is free does not mean we take things less seriously or that you should expect any less from us. The way the team lives, breathes and is set up is as if it were a $1000 product that people paid for. My point of view is that anybody who uses a professional product is investing their own personal time, and frankly for a product like a DAW, the time they spend on it is ultimately worth far more than how would have paid for it outright if it was a $400 boxed product - this is a responsibility we take seriously and we are always trying to figure out ways we can support the CbB users better now it has grown so much larger than it was before. Thank you again to everybody for your support and for caring enough about CbB to speak up and to continue to be part of this community. We continue to do everything we can to make the product better - feedback from you guys is why this forum (and CbB itself) exists in the first place. How I wish we could get things done faster. If only there were more than 24 hours in the day! Yours, Meng

  10. Strange indeed Razor. Could be such a fast delay time its over lapping and throwing the signal out of phase ? It would be impossible to alleviate this unless you found out the true offenders (since its only happening 50% of the time). Stereo Delay correct ? Make sure the Signal is dry before running it through the Delay (if AD has a preset reverb/delay)

  11. But, since this is a forum full of guys and the topic has nothing to do with music, let's just ignore the whole topic. 😏 Heard any good new Prog lately? 🙂 Here's a couple of bands I've been listening to lately. 👍😉

  16. Cool, it's not my imagination. Something even stranger is that I was never able to sing with vibrato for, well, decades. When DAWs came along, I started adding "faux" vibration with modulation. When I sang along with these tracks to do overdubs, I acquired the ability to do vibrato and now, it's a natural part of my singing. I do recall a study once along the lines that people who thought about practicing piano gained almost as much proficiency as those who actually practiced it. Maybe these phenomena are related.

  17. abacab, it could be worse. You could have a 20-year old copy Adobe Premier. My brother has worked at Adobe for decades. He came to the company back when they bought Aldus. He's a tech geek and not in marketing so he won't be embarrassed that I've outed him. As an employee he can buy software at cost, so I had him get me Audition and Premier. Premier just sucked something awful and I uninstalled it. Audition, though, seemed like a good investment. I had liked its shareware predecessor, and the idea of having it maintained and enhanced by a big corporation seemed like a good thing. Then they decided to go to the cloud with it. I was disappointed, but Audition 3 was still a good program and it still worked. At least, until I had to replace my computer after it was stolen. Audition didn't work anymore because it had to be authorized online and Adobe had taken down their authorization server. Instant obsolescence. Wouldn't Toyota or General Motors love to be able to remotely disable every car over 5 years old? Brilliant move. Luckily for me, Adobe still had a shred of conscience back then. They issued a universal license for Audition 3 users. I still use it to this day. I'm guessing some up-and-coming marketing dweeb stood in front of the conference table and pointed to a chart showing many AA3 users had not migrated to the new product, making the case that the company needed a heavier hand to keep its customers in line. And here we are. Will there ever be a consumer backlash? Not likely. After all, there are still Apple customers.

  18. I think it will be some sort of announcement regarding hardware integration. But I sincerely hope it's more than just Nektar. The headline stated "you asked for it" and is based on most popular feedback. If that's true, then they will also **hopefully** be announcing Komplete Kontrol integration as well, which is vastly more requested:

  19. To OP's question Is Cakewalk gaining users/popularity with Bandlab? Its hard to say unless Bandlab provies some data regarding how many new downloads of CbB happened through Bandlab. Anyway one thing we can do is keep track of the num of youtube views for cakewalk tutorials num of facebook likes for Cakewalk page etc etc. I once did a count on the fanbase of various DAW's facebook pages. This count I did post Sonar's doom by Gibson on Dec 2017. If someone is curious enough he can check how much of change has happened in the fan count of these pages. I'm curious to know but lazy to check. This is the facebook fanbase of these official facebook pages on Dec 3 2017. 20. Seems like a really counterproductive business model: suing your customers for not upgrading. Maybe more and more photographers will start putting time and energy into GIMP. Already, a fair amount of people on the video side are jumping ship to DaVinci Resolve. $300. Blackmagic Design has yet to charge for an upgrade. And there is a free version that does probably 85% of what the full one does.

  26. Companies are not people. They are not free to act as they choose. They are legally responsible to their investors/stock-holders. Companies must act for profits. It's a good thing from the perspective of the investor. They should use the money we invest in them to make more money. Otherwise, why would we invest? Who protects the grandma and grandpa who put their life savings in the hands of young companies? Right now, the courts. From my perspective, the weird thing is that the courts protect companies as if they are US Citizens. They are not. They should not be protected by the constitution as citizens. They are just objects within the country... People participate in corporations usually, but it would be possible to imagine a bot corporation that doesn't have a human in it. Only human investors that give the bot fuel to create more money. So, I think we should undo the court rulings that protect companies as if they were citizens themselves. It's possible for companies to be owned by foreigners all together. Non-citizens. All you need to do to get protections as a US Citizen is to buy a US Company? How weird. We are the government. We choose what power to grant to companies. We can make constitutional amendments to force the court to treat corporations like the untrustworthy entities they are. We have centuries of corporate history to predict future behavior with. Corporations are like bots. They are not full of good-will. They are not interested in making the world better. They are structures for money making. And we want them to be that. We just want to legislate them like they are nothing more than money-making bots.

  28. The lyrics belong in more of a ballad genre so I think a simpler arrangement would be better, maybe just the piano with a string pad and bg vocals. I like the piano intro and the fill at 1:25 BTW. The vocal is too quiet at this point so hard to comment on that. It's a promising start for sure. Just one man's opinion. I know what you mean about recording and re-recording vocals to fix a few bad spots. Often it sounds different because something changed in the environment or the recording level isn't the same, etc. Melodyne is great but sometimes it introduces artifacts like clicks or weird transitions and then you have to fix those things.

  31. + Can be a combined with: * Cakewalk traditionally "likes" the interface is set to the project sample rate. But that rate is fixed only after you have some audio in the project. * Cakewalk traditionally is not the best in enforcing own requirements to the interface * (any) interface is locked to one particular frequency at any time, when several applications running in parallel want different rates, there is no common rules what should happened. Other software can be flexible in that domain, silently "on the fly" recoding audio before sending it to the interface. So that is not an indication something is wrong with Cakewalk. Tip: when manipulating sample rate or other interface parameters outside Cakewalk, stop Audio Engine in Cakewalk (opening preferences is doing that automatically) and do not forget match preferences to the changed settings before enabling the engine.

  34. A friend of mine is a broadcast engineer. They use the cloud version of Audition of 58 different workstations throughout their company. They tried to negotiate a deal with Adobe to give them a blanket cost since there are so many licenses in use. Adobe told them "NO". The costs to my friend's company would have been staggering annually so they have dropped the program completely. If you ask me (and you didn't) this a shitty way for Adobe to treat customers.

  35. There is nothing like a Marketing campaign for now... I wonder if it's because Bandlab is still preparing a new Cakewalk website or if It's due to Cakewalk not being a priority for them, time will tell. Nevertheless, It is also a reality that some people are switching to Cakewalk from different DAW, here an example:

  40. Hey guys... 1. Both default Mercury & Tungsten themes have the correct image. 2. Any modified images like the one in question were done by the theme's author and have nothing to do with Theme Editor or BandlLab. 3. It's easy to revert an image back to it's original state by right-clicking and selecting "Remove". and 4. Yes you can resize an image! But not through "Import". Steps to resize an image: 1. Set up a photo editing program in Theme Editor's Setup Wizard. 2. Double click an image. A window will open in TE and the image will automatically open in the photo editor. 3. Change the image size and save it. 4. In Theme Editor, click OK. You can click "Refresh" 1st to see the changes. Your image is now the new size. Check image "Properties" window in the lower right hand corner of TE to verify. Resized images won't be distorted in Cakewalk but there are limitations. Some are constrained to a certain area and won't display beyond those dimensions. Some will overlap another image when made bigger. Others will push neighboring images over to allow the bigger size.

  44. I am new at this and I have tried Studio One, MuLab, Tracktion 6, LMMS, Audacity, BandLab and CakeWalk. I found BandLab to be the easiest (almost too easy) to use but had to move over to CakeWalk (2nd easiest) as I couldn't find a way to do triplets with BandLab and I couldn't get a good bass guitar sound with BandLab's built in instruments. I know there are work arounds for both problems but Cakewalk takes care of both issues without going outside of the program. Three updates I would like to see in BandLab would be: 1) SI-Bass Guitar instrument 2) ability to do triplets 3) when using piano roll view I would like for the notes to show on the keyboard and by the cursor. Until these changes are made I will stick with CakeWalk as I am now making music with the help of this great forum which I think is another plus for CakeWalk. I don't think BandLab has a forum.

  45. I use Cakewalk since Pro Audio 9 (circa 1999). I love it and its awesome mixing tools, but I feel in terms of audio editing is not the quicker DAW in the world. As you asked the users for requests... ...these are my basic ones: EASY CLIP GAIN NON-DESTRUCTIVE NORMALIZING QUICKLY ADJUSTABLE SELECTION SELECTION LENGHT INFO (I posted images based on Vegas Pro video editor, because I use it, but these are very common features in DAWs too.) Thanks Cakewalk and BandLab for asking the users👍 MarianoGF::.
