  1. I wasn't complaining. I actually PREFER the slower pace of releases. I hope they keep it up. I would rather that they get released when they are fully baked.

  2. Sorry to hear that Mesh. Thankfully I managed to kick the habit years ago. Was never a fan of B&H though, Marlboro was my poison.

  3. This is very true for new users. There was a point in time from the late 90s to 2005 or so where many old school analog users (probably like you and I) were clutching our tape machines resisting the digital realm. Others were simply curious. Then something else happened around this same time, we were introduced to a DAW by a friend, maybe we saw someone use one and it grabbed our attention. A lot can be said for being introduced to a DAW and it being your first DAW. you begin to feel so invested, that moving to another DAW feels like walking backwards (in terms of learning new features, keyboard shortcuts). That's the case for me anyway. Unless Cakewalk rolls out some type of Lego Lanes which totally loses my interest, I'll keep using it because of only 2 things 1- It does what I want it to. 2- I don't have to learn anything new (which lets me focus on the important stuff like the music).

  4. My God, another company with 'smart' installer. Again XLN install showed me something is broken and as I can see it is pushing again aax plugins I removed... Just like Native Access... You must keep all trash on disk not needed and not usable versions... Otherwise installer 'diagnose' installation is broken... Are we really in 21 Century about installers development? 😕 When do they all learn people who don't use Pro Tools don't need and want them on disk? There are so many choices about DAW and but they are thrashing zylion of people all over the world... Even not asking for approve or checking if PT is installed... Ech...

  5. Shift+L turns selection into looped region. L by itself toggles whether the looped region is enabled. Ctrl+L turns a selected clip into a loop you can stretch.

  6. If I had a Mac I would milk Logic to the max. Cubase is losing ground to Reaper. I have that and maybe I should invest more time in learning it. Some have went to Studio One because they like the layout.

  9. John I like the steady groove in the background - piano, drums, bass - that supports the vocal. And then you add in the horns for a jazzy kind of sound. Really nice break at 2:28 that transitions back to the main theme perfectly. Well done.

  10. HI John, I listened to your song (liked it a lot).. Good recording.. Sounded nice in my work headphones... Sorry you had to take down one of your songs.. I haven't been around consistently to have caught it while it was up. But this one will do nicely.

  12. Nothing wrong with your speakers. The vocals are panned about 10:00 to the left. But I think I panned the reverb far right (not sure. Have to check. That project is two years old but I still have it archived). Not necessarily inspired by personal experience. I write the music first, then write the words according to the feeling the music gives me. Thanks for checking it out. 🙂John B

  13. There is a free VCV Rack spinoff called VeeCeeVST Rack which works in several DAWs including CbB. It is a VST plug-in containing many of the free modules written for VCV Rack. I posted about it here.

  14. The $29 is something of a bargain, but the $105 index price is probably a fantasy. Ignite is not the full Voltage Modular (oddly called Voltage Core) but a subset with fewer modules in the package. It has been selling for about $50 off and on for some time. So maybe a $20 savings with the coupon vs the price at Cherry. The full Voltage is typically in the $100 (currently $99 from the Cherry) range with a list/index price of $200. These prices are still in the range of a single Eurorack hardware module, so if you want to get into beating your head against modular synthesis, this is the way to go. I bought Softube Modular some time ago for $39, and if this had been around then at this price I would have bought it instead. If you can afford $29 and 500 hours of noodling go for it. Incidentally Cherry is selling the rest of the standard full Voltage modules as an upgrade for $49, so you could buy Ignite with the coupon and the upgrade from Cherry and get essentially the full Voltage for $78, a savings of $21 over buying Voltage Core at Cherry. https://cherryaudio.com/voltage-modular/support/module-comparison

  15. I'm afraid I'm not going to be very helpful on the follow-up! Since I had to sell my studio, I haven't used anything except for my old XP dual-server box with SONAR Pro v4! I did have this connected to various pieces of gear and it worked great (you can program it using the pedals themselves). I would hope things are even easier now.

  16. The problem is if you have duplicates in your account, the cap doesn't apply. Having two separate accounts (one for my laptop, one for my studio pc), means there's no duplicates so I can have a cap of $240 on each account. With duplicate products, I get no cap at all. The pricing structure is so unclear, I've no idea whether this would in practice make a difference once all my plugins are out of their current 1 year free updates - i.e. do I effectively get a cap of $480 ? But given that they're asking in excess of $1000, I'm not convinced. A breakdown of what I'm paying per product would be nice! [Edit] - I totally missed the current WUP before a transfer. Thanks for letting me know. I'll update my original post.

  17. You may already know this, but WUP must be current in order to transfer products to a different account. I don't understand how having two separate accounts would save you money, though

  24. Good song, thanks for remixing and posting it again. I think the overall mix and arrangement is great, maybe the bass is a bit dominant in the verse? I listened in headphones, so take it with a pinch of salt. Love the 6/8+3/4 combo. And xylo percussion! Nice Peter Gabriel-ish sound on the vocal.

  25. To renew my update plan they're wanting $1045.90 ($784.43 with the 25% discount). I've got duplicates of each product due to me having 2 machines, and some are in date/some out of date. The only way that will come down in price is to not buy another Waves product until all my products go out of date, then buy the WUP. Also, even if only selected the products licensed to a particular machine, and do two separate WUP upgrades, I'm not convinced that this would allow me to take advantage of any cap. At this price, Wave's aren't going to get a WUP out of me any time soon.... if ever.

  31. I noticed this happens sometimes too, there are times when it certain templates are saved correctly. Other times it might not. I think it also happens when there's multiple soft synths in your track template, like its probably loading the audio tracks first before loading the right soft synth hence the routing gets routed to a different soft synth as the correct soft synth hasnt been loaded. its kinda frustrating to reroute everything esp if you're dealing with huge multi-out stuff. hope it get fixed

  36. I am presuming you mean the plug in is not available plugins/audiofx? Have you checked your VST settings under preferences? You need to add the correct file path under VST scan paths. For me its C\program files\common files\VST3\overloud Hope this helps and apologies if this was not what you meant.

  37. I'm still waiting for them to give me a compelling reason to upgrade from Acid 7. If anybody wants stems extracted they can just buy a plugin that does that, like Regroover, which is often deeply discounted.

  38. in the EU, before bandlab took over, this was handled by a direct contact with cakewalk, as prohibiting license transfers isn't allowed in the EU - but now it's free so why bother?

  41. I can. Don't "WUP". My v9 plugins still work just fine. 🙂

  42. One thing I do often: I upgrade to a bundle that includes my existing outdated plugins. For instance: I had some solo CLA signture plugins on version 9. When Waves did a deal on the CLA bundle I bought the upgrade from my plugins to the bundle. Doing this I have a discount on the sale price (because I already have some of the plugins) and I WUPed the whole lot on the bundle. I did this also by upgrading from Gold to Platinum to Diamond and in many other occasions. You'll get new plugins, a discount and WUP with one strike 🙂
    1 point
  43. No...if they are version 10 no need to really upgrade, with the exception of Bundles, where you'll get the new plugins added. However, you'll get those plugins when you DO upgrade...so, unless you need them NOW, you don't even need to do them. Here's a trick that I use to get the MOST out of WUP. When you're ready to get your WUP, buy a NEW, CHEAP, plugin. THEN buy your WUP for ALL of your plugins at the same time. (NOTE: Make sure you are INCLUDING the NEW plugin) THIS will get you TWO YEARS of WUP for the price of ONE. WHY? Because WUP is extended for 1 year from the LAST expiration date of ALL the plugins you WUP, that being the NEW plugin you just bought, which already has 1 year of WUP, so it will extend them ALL for TWO YEARS!
