  1. This is exactly the reason why I have begun to unzip most plugin installers with "innounp.exe" and then install only the wanted items by hand!!! I have enough of all this (for me) unused AAX stuff, Windows menus (with useless uninstaller and web page links...), 32-bit Vsts, and so on ... In addition I experienced that many uninstallers are unreliable, i.e. they leave rubbish behind (so it's better to do it by hand!). I also prefer to install the documentation files in one single place, because it is a mess with all those plugin providers: They have a lot of phantasy to install their docus in so many different places that you never find them! And VST3 it is a real chaos: Some copy the vst3s barely into the main folder, some under a "provider" subfolder, ... Frankly, I prefer the old way plugins were delivered: With a simple zip file! But today there are not many providers doing it in such a user friendly way!!! Based on my experience it is also much simpler to install the plugins on multiple systems by hand, than with those cluttered installers! Many even do not remember the directory and install settings when you do an update. Each time you have to select the same things (very stupid). But now I am much happier as I have found the solution with innounp. I put then the contents into a zip file (only the things I need) for history and for the other systems, very nice!

  3. Yes, Dave likes that. Maybe 25 years ago I was playing a gig in which there was raised customer seating behind the band. A beautiful woman leaned over the railing behind me between songs and whispered "I've been watching you play and wondering what those fingers could do to a woman's body". She couldn't have halted the performance more quickly had she pulled the power cable out of the wall. Sadly, she left before the end of the set so I never got to encourage her to expound further.

  6. I would think the main issue with the EULA would primarily have to do with how the copy is activated. In those days it was a printed activation code or serial number or some such that came with the packaging. If the OP still has access to the code he got with his original licensed copy, he should be able to activate it from any copy of the installation disc for the identical version and it would still be under his own original license. If he has to use your activation code, then technically you may be considered to be transferring your license to him, which as far as I can recall was always forbidden with Cakewalk products. If the OP can prove he has a valid license to the software, then a reasonable licensor might consider that someone providing the installation media to him did not violate the spirit of the license. The creation of archival copies of installation media is often forbidden by boilerplate licensing contracts, and is addressed in copyright law (17 U.S. Code § 117). People often think that the law permits them to distribute copies of the software they own to others (which is different than transferring the license), but in fact the law by itself only permits a backup copy to be made for the use of the original owner, and requires that any copies be destroyed or transferred with the original if the software is legally transferred. So just making the copy with the intent to transfer it to someone else might run afoul of copyright law in addition to the EULA.

  7. Exactly But having center for some plugin is not even close to worst case scenario... Not mentioning many manufacturers (like Waves, McDSP, NI etc) don't have respect for our space and order on disks and is pushing installation of AAX (for people who never used PT), 32 bit etc... And forcing after install/reinstall to clean manually 😕 What's more removing manually not wanted 32-bit NI VSTi (read : cleaning trash) make NA is showing install for whole product is broken. Kind of madness... And we are ending with versions of plugs we don't want but it make DAW scan for VST longer and longer...

  11. Glad you found a way that works! Just in case anyone’s interested... To Paste the Tempo map from one project to another: 1. Open project with the desired tempo map. 2. Open Tempo view, adjust the bar to the right to see the Tempo list. 3. Highlight All tempos. (Click the top one then Shift Click the bottom one to highlight all tempos) 4. Go to Edit, and click Copy Special, Tick the box labeled Tempo changes and Untick everything else. Click OK. 5 Minimize this project and open the one you wish to paste to. 6. Open tempo view and tempo list and Highlight All of the tempos. 7. Ctrl V to Paste the previously copied tempo map to the new project. Bam! All new tempo map! ✌️

  13. Some plugins are just heavy on CPU, so you can try increasing your ASIO buffer size. However, some other's just don't play well with Cakewalk. I usually use the "Load with JBridge wrapper" option on the plugin (you'll need JBridge though). If it still clicks & pops with this option, then it's genuinely just CPU hungry and you'll need to up your ASIO buffer size. If it is a CPU thing, up the buffer size then freeze the track - you can then put your ASIO buffer back to normal.

  14. It's intended as a complete toolkit for cinematic scoring, sort of a one-stop shop for all your cinematic orchestral and hybrid scoring needs. To that end it has: a) full set of strings, woodwinds and brass articulations, including some legato articulations and fx. Most of the patches are combination patches (woodwinds in octaves, strings and woods together, etc), or full ensemble patches with a few specific legato sections. There are no solo sections. I don't find the Albion orchestra patches to be as granular as others (Hollywood Strings, for example), but offers a set of commonly used textures and flavors often found in orchestral and cinematic scoring. They sound great, and I use them a lot for my own stuff. They have a fair amount of baked in ambiance, and generally are designed to sound pretty big and epic. b) cinematic percussion (toms, big hits, metal hits, etc). There is only a limited amount of 'traditional' orchestral percussion (some cymbals, etc), but no timps, and a cinematic piano patch which I use mostly for low end texturing. c) Stephensen's Steam Band is a collection of patches based on the orchestral and synth samples, and are run through their eDNA synth engine, and basically turned into a big set of hybrid synth patches. Most have a pretty huge sound, and are configurable (with gates and sequencing, etc) d) Brunel Loops - set of prerecorded loops that can be mangled and twisted for whatever use you want. It's all really nicely recorded and put together, and it is hands down one of my fav libraries. I don't use the whole thing -- my current template makes heavy use of the ensemble string patches and some of the big percussion hits. I use other libraries for solo instruments, string legatos and brass. But you can do a lot with just Albion ONE, and there is more than enough stuff to create a full piece of orchestral/hybrid scoring just within this one library. It's really great. YMMV, of course, as with all libraries like this. But I consider Albion ONE to be a desert island purchase.

  15. Great to see someone else getting this same waveshell error message. You are not alone. Two changes in the default preferences sorted that for us. Scanning vsts within the sandbox (also in preferences) got rid of that annoying wavshell error message. Then also in preferences, turning off the dithering brought stability to the project. You can always dither when exporting. I never got a satisfactory answer as to why turning off dithering in preferences made a difference but we have never got that waveshell error message since turning it off and lots of other instability issues went away also. As a rule now we only scan vsts when a new plugin is added.

  21. FWIW I use SSD's for everything nowadays, using my old HDD's for storing backup images. The only issue I had was with a SanDisk Plus, which died during the warranty period. SanDisk replaced it with a SanDisk Ultra II (free of charge) which is running great. Most of my other SSD's are Crucial MX300's / MX500's. Personally, I can't see you having any issues using them for casual tracking. For really heavy tracking, an SSD is still fine, but you'd maybe want to look into getting a SLC (Single Level Cell) based SSD which will cope with far more writes than the other types. For most uses the standard MLC (Multi Level Cell) technology is fine. I personally wouldn't use the TLC (Triple Level Cell) SSD's, but I guess they would be fine for your OS (assuming your swap file / hibernation file is on another disk), or a disk full of samples.

  23. Good question. I suspect it's because some people experience "the Spinal Tap" effect, where if an amp knob goes up to 11, it MUST be better than an amp knob that only goes up to 10. I've met quite a few people who consider it a more "professional" rate, so maybe it's just a psychological thing. Regardless, I'm a "the customer is always right" kinda guy when you're handing off files. If someone wants 48 kHz, I give them 48 kHz.

  27. I have one with V2 system. We used to use it with a 24 trk ADAT set-up years ago. Today I use it as synth mixer basically. It has the meter bridge and Adat cards and the TC-Unity card. All in a custom desk. Still a great operating rig. Sounds fine, and everything works. It was owned by Peter Framptons studio many years ago. I'm not sure if the Version 2 does anything for Fader movement - but the one I have operates smoothly. You might do a little research to see if a little fader lube might help. It might not hurt to try it on one. I had an O1V as well - and just went through it and cleaned all the switches and pots - and lubed the faders as well. It didn't seem to do much for the faders - but they were a little clunky compared to the O2R.

  33. No, this is not part of an "arranger track." That belongs over in the Big Feature Request pen with the Chord Track and other big things. This is a small feature request. I just want to be able to change the color of individual markers. Same markers, just with colors that can be changed, like we have other things whose colors can be changed. All fun, no tears, no feature creep, no fists and yelling over "how DAW X does it," just a color picker added to the current properties. If we are good and do not fight in the car while coming home from getting our color-y markers, maybe they will consider our Big Feature requests.

  34. Build 27 was a hot-fix release, released on Jan 22nd (maybe the 23rd) - less than a week after build 24. Put it this way, the file date says the 22nd, but I installed it on the 23rd. It was released specifically to fix the MixRecall issue. I don't know exactly what all of the MixRecall issues were in build 24, but maybe snapshots created using that version are corrupt somehow and can't be used. That would certainly explain why a hot-fix version was released so quickly. Have you tried creating a new snapshot in the latest version and trying to recall that?

  35. Also, the T-RackS MAX Crossgrade is $180 on the IK site. With enough JamPoints it can be as low as $126. 38 T-Racks modules, plus you can use all the free presets by Tom Lord-Alge, Richard Chycki, Dave Way, Earle Holder, and Nick Davis.

  37. I get this notification on some of my projects when using Jamstix. Quite often, I'll stick the audioM8 plugin on its own bus, so I can control the level of audio sent to it from each track. As audioM8 doesn't have an audio output, the bus is always silent, hence the notification. Maybe I could get around it by using Aux tracks, but the bus works fine for me.

  38. Howdy - I do not know if this applies or not, but in the past, some VST3 issues with Waves plugins have occurred with some folks, and their workaround was to temporarily use the VST2 versions of the affected plugins - and then they were able to use the plugins. There is no audio impact I am aware of, from using their VST2 version of a plugin instead of the VST3 version of the same plugin, so why not give that a try, and see if it gets you back to using these plugins? Eventually, in the past, Waves came out with subsequent updates that address the issues that had caused their VST3 plugins to hiccup and die. I believe similar issues with VST3 version of plugins from other vendors have also occurred, as well, but for sure I recall in the past some Waves VST3 issues that were solved by using the VST2 versions until later updates fixed the VST3 issues. (edited to add this): I did a quick Google search of the old forums, to see what showed up on the issues I described above. Try the following Google search terms (without the quotation marks), and take a look through some of the posts that look promising, and I believe you will see similar issues, and hopefully corroboration of my suggested workaround. Here are the terms (don't forget to remove the quotes): "forum.cakewalk.com waves vst3 vst2" I hope that helps. Bob Bone

  39. Right click the MIDI file and choose "Open with..." and then Cakewalk. This will import the tempo map, and if no MIDI output is assigned in Cakewalk preferences also insert TTS-1 and route the channels. Importing a MIDI file inside Cakewalk will strip off this data. I am not sure if the tempo information can be copied directly between projects though, so hopefully someone will chime in to that specifically.
