  1. Yep CTRL drag is your friend to move a linear section in the smart tool. You can do most editing just using the smart tool. I rarely switch tools for editing automation. Also remember that shift CLICK will select a "ghosted" envelope - no need to use the edit filter to switch the envelope being edited.

  2. Currently if multiple clips are selected and "Bounce to clip(s)" is invoked, it will combine all the clips into one - which is fine if this is what you want. However, seeing as bouncing clips to themselves seems to be a fix (if not a requirement) to get around strange clip behaviour, could we have a "Bounce clip(s) individually" command? Maybe it could be called "Commit clip edits" or something similar to avoid confusion. This would in effect call "Bounce to clip(s)" in turn on each individual clip in the selection, leaving them as separate clips. This could save a tonne of time compared to manually going through and selecting each clip and bouncing it to themselves, and I suspect 90% of the time is what people actually want to do rather than combining the clips into one.

  5. No, not at all. The ladies are most welcome, however there are some rules. Please note these are all numbered "1". 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down. 1. Sunday = sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be. 1. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way. 1. Crying is blackmail. 1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it! 1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question. 1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for. 1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor. 1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days. 1. If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys. 1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us. 1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one. 1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself. 1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials. 1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions and neither do we. 1. ALL men see in only 16 colours, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a colour. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is. 1. If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that. 1. If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing," we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle. 1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear. 1. 7. Scott used Cakewalk for what? 17+ years, but after the bitter memory that shall not be mentioned *cough*, switched over and is now using Reaper. My question for you Scott... What features would Cakewalk have to implement to win you back as your DAW of choice?

  9. Exactly! I have not even had the desire to go there yet, LOL! One thing that I observed about the new streaming options, say "Small" vs. "Large", is that the presets load up much quicker with the "Small" setting. They take forever with "Large". "Medium" seems to be about the same as before the most recent v4.0.3 update. I could almost go make a pot of coffee in the amount of time it took to load the Red Strat Full Keyswitch using the "Large" streaming setting.

  10. Yes a frozen track behaves the same as a normal track. Any effects prochannel or others will be applied if you subsequently bounce it.

  11. The acoustic Steel String Parlor guitar in full KS, and the electric Black LP and Red Strat in their full KS presets are huge troublemakers for me in this regard.

  14. What gets frozen depends on the freeze options. Right click the snowflake to access freeze options. What gets bounced depends on the bounce options. In both cases the PC is part of the new clip when Track (or Bus) FX is enabled.

  15. First off - I liked your vocal - fit the song well. The song is good - nice ballad. The mix sounded good to my ears. Nice job on the lyrics - I enjoyed the listen. Once crit - it ends too abruptly - it needed a longer fade. Thanks for posting.

  16. Wow - that was hardcore metal - nice job. The drumming on this is quite intense - great performance there. The guitar playing was intense as well. The mix sounded good to me - maybe bring out the bass a bit more, but that's a minor crit. Thanks for posting - I enjoyed it.

  23. I already have a ticket open with IK support, but so far I am mainly interested in getting the standalone stable first. I wish to avoid any finger pointing at DAWs, so by using the standalone version to reproduce the crashes eliminates the DAW variable completely! And I have been able to crash several DAWs with the plugin, as well as the standalone.

  25. This issue sounds similar in a way to when a guitar player records a live take without a click track or a metronome to keep him locked to a tempo. Then when he imports the audio take into a DAW project, the guitar tempo doesn't line up with the beats on the grid due to the rigid default tempo map in the DAW. Sure, the guitar player may sound great with his relaxed timing, and have more swing or human feel. But when you want to arrange things later in the DAW, you have your work cut out for you to create a variable tempo map so that your MIDI instrument tracks can sync to the guitar, and stay on the beat with the grid. So I think it is design intent that software has to make certain assumptions, like the number of beats in a measure adding up consistently, or that all tracks in a DAW project must follow a common tempo map. Maybe software can be improved some day so that we don't have to tell it everything, but it seems at this point we still may have to create content that it can interpret correctly according to the assumptions it follows.

A: "Hey guys, I have an idea for a song!" Q: What do you call someone who hangs around a rock band? A: The drummer. Q: Did you hear about the time the bass player locked his keys in the van? A: Took over an hour to get the drummer out. Q; What is the only key drummers know? A:

  28. Zargg I really liked the guitar accom in the quieter parts and the solo was outstanding tho I thought it came in a bit late. Vocal seemed too much in front and as with all metal songs, I can never make out the lyrics. Great collaboration!

  29. I noticed this as well. Having modulation at zero making cutoff freq = zero is a totally mental decision. Modulation at zero is the default position (as is actually having some sound coming out). Why on earth did NI not make it work in reverse? My workaround was to insert a CC# 1 (modulation) = 127 at the very beginning of the MIDI Event List.

  30. Um that's an ancient thread and if you read it all the issues have long since been resolved. Most of the issues were with sidechaining in VST2 which was ill defined and implemented differently by different vendors. If someone has an actual recipe to reproduce a crash with sidechaining we'll look into it,

  33. I've got a very basic install on my work laptop, just CbB and Rapture Pro & CA-2A from CCC, with a M-Audio KeyStation 32 as a controller. Sticking to stock plugins keeps the disk space footprint small (I don't want to upset the IT department!). My intention was to use as a sketch pad for ideas during my lunch, but to be honest I never really get the time. I'm a Software Development Manager, and our office is open plan, so I find I more than often work through lunch as it's the one time I get some peace to get work done! It's main use now is for taking screen shots, or trying things out when answering questions here. If I'm travelling, I'll bring my own laptop which has the same setup as my studio PC. I use a combination of batch files & a cloud backup (Mega) for keeping projects in sync. My CloudSync folder is set to F:\Projects, where as my Cakewalk directories are SEQUENCE for projects, WAVEDATA for my global audio directory, PICTURE for my picture cache, and TEMPLATES for my templates. CopyToMega.bat: ROBOCOPY F:\SEQUENCE F:\Projects\SEQUENCE *.* /XO /E /COPYALL /DCOPY:DAT ROBOCOPY F:\PICTURE F:\Projects\PICTURE *.* /XO /E /COPYALL /DCOPY:DAT ROBOCOPY F:\TEMPLATES F:\Projects\TEMPLATES *.* /XO /E /COPYALL /DCOPY:DAT ROBOCOPY F:\WAVEDATA F:\Projects\WAVEDATA *.* /XO /E /COPYALL /DCOPY:DAT CopyFromMega.bat: ROBOCOPY F:\Projects\SEQUENCE F:\SEQUENCE *.* /XO /E /COPYALL /DCOPY:DAT ROBOCOPY F:\Projects\PICTURE F:\PICTURE *.* /XO /E /COPYALL /DCOPY:DAT ROBOCOPY F:\Projects\TEMPLATES F:\TEMPLATES *.* /XO /E /COPYALL /DCOPY:DAT ROBOCOPY F:\Projects\WAVEDATA F:\WAVEDATA *.* /XO /E /COPYALL /DCOPY:DAT This does involve having two copies of my projects, however: It stops the cloud sync from accessing any "active" projects I can decide when I'm ready to sync the projects

  37. Its not solved because most likely nobody submitted a bug report with a recipe. We can look into it if you have some steps to repro it. Can you make it happen with one of the Cakewalk sidechain plugins such as sonitus compressor or CA-2A, or LP Multiband? I have not seen this crash personally.

  39. Ripple editing has been a godsend to me, but until they added the visible on/off button recently, it was confusing if you forgot that it was on while doing edits. I've found that it moves everything except automation envelopes, at least, I haven't figured that out, yet. It can be configured. It has saved me much time by filling in large holes without cutting and pasting. Overall, my editing techniques may be simpler than some, but this was one of the better additions for my needs.

  42. In the Bounce to Track window, saving a preset doesn't save the "Destination Track", nor the "Source Buses". If I want to bounce only the Master track, which I do often, I have to deselect all of the buses (with the exception of the "Master" bus) every time. It's a pain. Also, it'd be helpful to have "Select All" and "Deselect All" options

  43. At present, the meters in the mixing console can be set to display Peak, RMS or both. I think, along with them, we need LUFS/LKFS and True Peak as well. That would really help us mix projects according to standards like EBU R128 or ATSC.
