  2. Not again! That's Concordes with an E. [rant] Why do I have to keep correcting spelling? It's the bane of my life!!! [/rant] 😉 Very, very early days before anything was built, we had a "mock up" of the Concorde fuselage in a hanger at B.A.C. Weybridge. Barnes Wallace was still there, in semi-retirement, he was working on the earliest "swing-wing" designs. All apprentices were introduced to the "grand old man" in the old Brooklands Race Track club house, with the Grand Slam and Tall Boy bombs stood on end outside. I was assured they were empty! There's an aviation museum there now with a Concorde parked outside. I can't remember now whether it was called Concorde then, maybe B.A.C. 2-12. Part of my electronics apprenticeship was understanding how control surfaces could be moved by actuators, and understanding the forces, due to air flow, that had to be overcome. How different those forces could be once suprsonic speeds were attained. These were very early "fly by wire" (no computer control) systems, back then it meant that there were no steel cables running from the joystick and pedals to the control surfaces (elevators, ailerons, rudder, etc.). So, actually work on the Concorde itself, no. I worked primarily on Vickers VC-10's and BAC 1-11's. Cockpit, radio bay, generators and power supply. The advanced design work on Concorde was being done at that time back in Weybridge, in the mid sixties.

  5. -Better than Sonible for mixes (IMO) -When we release the Windows version of Gullfoss there will be an early access phase that will last for a few months. Throughout early access the price will be $99 or equivalent (roughly half price). We expect that the Windows version will go through a number of periodic releases as we proactively deal with specific issues that are fed back by customers. This is very similar to the process after the launch of the Mac version in early 2018. Once the Windows version is completely stable we'll announce the end of early access, and with one month's warning, the price will revert to $199.

  7. I have struggled a couple of decades (three, more like it) to get Cakewalk to cooperate with gazillions of midi remotes and keyboards without stable success. And this christmas I got the Komplete kontrol A61. I had high expectations as I had briefly seen success stories in forums. Turns out Cakewalk is not supported. Even the workarounds are obsolete, and I can not even use the transport controls. How hard can it be? I'm on day 3 in learning Ableton, the demo. And MIDI works a charm. I've got 30 days to decide.

Gullfoss now available for Windows- Soundtheory Gullfoss VST/VST3/AAX plugin for Windows $99.00 Soundtheory Gullfoss AU/VST/VST3/AAX plugin for macOS and Windows $159.00 https://www.soundtheory.com/home Gullfoss is an intelligent equalizer that listens to a signal and decides how to prepare the audio so that your brain can get the most information out of it. The realtime analysis of Gullfoss uses Soundtheory’s computational auditory perception model to understand which audible elements are competing for your attention. Gullfoss allows for quick and precise fixes that would otherwise be unsolvable or would require significant time and experience to resolve.

Having started on my own theme before M-Spec came out and made it unnecessary 😊, I got a taste of how much work is involved, and I must thank the themesters for putting in the effort to make our Cakewalk experience so much more fun and pleasing to the eye.

Some are, but there are many decent, kind, virtuous and moral people out there and they come in all stripes - atheists, Buddhist, Christian, gay, Jewish, Muslim, transgender and other flavors (listed in alphabetical order if anyone's getting upset about that). Not sure what about the the guys waxing philosophically got your dander up but in response to your rant - I think the future is what we, as humans make it. As the old saying goes 'God helps those who help themselves' - if we want a bright future for our kids it's up to us to make the effort to make it happen. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ End of my rant and to why I came here... Just received an email from Blue Cat Audio. If you already have Axiom and want Re-Guitar as a separate plugin they've got a deal for you.

  26. Many of the internal snakes in my back-of-the-rack picture above are Hosa. Worked fine for me! Although I do make fun of them (deservedly so), I ended up with a LOT of Monster cables because I got a secret heads-up that my local Guitar Center was going to have to sell their current stock for 20% of the usual (never discounted) price and all because Monster was changing the packaging! I pretty much bought what they had left. At 100% (or even 60%) they're way over-priced, but at only 20% they were well worth it!

  28. Ok, after downloading the correct samples, here's my initial assessment. Sample A is nice and clear, samples C and D are a tiny bit brighter but pretty much the same and B has a good bit more presence and brightness (a tad too much for my preference). Not sure if that helps but, if it doesn't then, here, have some becan! 😉

  30. What can I say? Did you read what go game master beaten by AI said about style of the winner, AlphaGo machine? If computer never invented anything how it is possible human go master learned something from machine? I am saying it was computer self-awareness or something... Famous humans invented many things in history by accident, something even not understanding what was the meaning of this. Is it to be naive when relating to facts? It was 3 years ago. Do you believe random machine power could beat top go player? And you are calling me naive? I don't understand completely why you are writing about God in context of technology development? How religion relates to technology? It is kind of surprising you are on one side relating to God and on the other you are attacking me personally. We can be different in opinion but I believe first rule of good behavior is not to attack person. Please don't even try to estimate my respect for God. It is offending. You have no idea. So don't try it. Kind of 'You cannot name yourself a policeman when breaking a law.' "Have you ever heard a computer create a concerto or sonata? Nope, and never will." - how can you be so sure? Are you God? Correct me if I am wrong He is the Only One than can know everything about future? Are you so self-confident you can be sure where are limits for science ? Do you remember history of science and where people tried to put its limits 100 years ago? And how did it go? Of course I am familiar with s-f classics. But I am humbly asking you please study current science advance before you are so confidentially write such definitive sentences about its progress or prognosis. You could be surprised. And btw I don't feel I have any human overlords. Do you feel this way? Anyway I believe politics and religion is very private thing for every person and should be respected. Without any judgments or hard guessing (especially without any knowledge). Why? Because we are good people, right?

  31. Bill, I have seen some incredible players that could read anything you put in front of them. Couldn't come up with an original tune on their own. Seen great players in bars that amazed me in their command of the instrument, and after 30 minutes of listening to them my wife would turn to me and say, "I'm ready to leave." They couldn't entertain her. (most of the people in the bars were musicians!) I could never figure it out. Other than the reason I keep playing and have devoted a very large chunk of my life to it is I love it. I really do. So it's my personal enjoyment that matters in the end of it. Not what others think of me.

  37. I have an LX61 and no trouble. I do have the software installed but it only outlines the first 8 tracks for use. I really only use the Keyboard part and not the controls because I can't seem to get my head around all of the details. I guess I'm missing out on a lot of features, but I can't get my head around the details between the DAW and the keyboard software. Life's too short. I just work as best I can. 😀John B

  38. My suspicion is, without hard evidence to back it up, that their microphones have different characteristic impedances. Therefore the pre-amps have variabilty in order to most closely match mic to amp. Using different impedance set-ups will, most likely, affect frequency response in subtle ways. Again, from memory of long ago, possibly inaccurate, bass roll-off or high frequency gain may be slightly altered. Possibly even a lift in the 'presence' region. My memory of these things cannot be relied upon though, I moved into a totally different area of expertise, dealing with CCITT Q.921 D channel signalling, both terrestrial and via satellite, sometime in the late '80s, and that's getting 'dim' too! An operating system that changes your settings, deletes drivers, changes your Machine ID, etc. seems close to my definition of a virus I'm running Win7 Ultimate on my DAW and Win10 Pro on a laptop...my Win7 is definitely more stable. At some point(maybe next year) I want to build a new Daw...I'll go with Win10 Pro but I hope Microsoft fixes things first. As far as I'm concerned it's Microsoft's OS but my hardware and software! 40. It also depends on your voice. In MIX magazine, decades ago I read a piece on recording a female singer, I think it was Sade but I'm not sure. Anyway they pulled out every mic in the studio's extensive closet and ended up using a Sure Beta 58 because it made her sound the best. So what the best mic for me may not be the best mic for you and vice versa. Insights and incites by Notes

  43. Got tired of chrome putting pressure on my cpu and make my pc fans speed up and sound like a jetplane for long periods. Renamed a file and that worked for a day until chrome magically renamed it back. Now i'm using Firefox. Nice, quiet and adfree. Imported bookmarks and saved passwords from chrome and a little bit to my surprise Firefox have no problems logging in to my sites or viewing videos and listening to audio. I highly recommend Firefox. PS. Hm..it seems i remember it wrong. You probably can't import/export passwords.

  45. Run Native Access to update. Kontakt 6.0.4 — 2019-02-20 ADDED The Kontakt 5 Database feature is now also included in Kontakt 6 IMPROVED The 'Batch re-save' dialog now contains information about the potential effects of this action FIXED The 3-band EQ would not initialize correctly in certain cases, causing “filter sweep” artefacts FIXED Assigning one modulator on multiple targets would disable real time control of most of the target parameters FIXED Effects with longer tails would turn silent after manually resetting the playhead position in certain DAWs FIXED Files saved with Kontakt 6 would not show the correct "Created By" information on the Info Pane FIXED When changes were pushed from the Instrument Editor in Creator Tools to Kontakt, the upper key of a zone's range would not be updated correctly KOMPLETE KONTROL 2.1.0 — 2019-02-21 ADDED MIDI mapping support for third party controllers It is now possible to control some of KOMPLETE KONTROL's parameters via a third party MIDI controller. These include the 8 knobs of the NATIVE MAP, parameter page switching, plugin switching if more than one plugin is instantiated in the plugin chain, and preset switching. ADDED Sounds.com Integration Browse on Sounds.com, create your own collections of loops and one-shots, and sync the collections with KOMPLETE KONTROL. To make use of this feature, you must enable the "Download to All NI Apps" feature on the Sounds.com website. This can be found in your account settings, which can be accessed at this URL: "https://sounds.com/account/overview". ADDED Sampler plug-in When loading a sample from the new Samples tab in the Browser, that sample will automatically be loaded into the Sampler plug-in so it can be played immediately. The GUI for the Sampler provides access to some important parameters, but all parameters for the Sampler can be accessed via the Plug-in Panel or a connected KOMPLETE KONTROL keyboard. This version of the Sampler supports loading of only a single sample at any given time. CHANGED There is now a single button for toggling the Browser between the Factory and User Libraries CHANGED Samples are now available in the Browser cataloged in separate Loops and One-shots tabs These new samples tabs will only appear when focused on the first slot in KOMPLETE KONTROL; the FX tab will be shown when any other slot is selected. Furthermore, for this version, all User Samples will be located in the One-shots tab of the Browser, regardless of whether they're tagged as Loops or One Shots. IMPROVED Instruments, Loops, and One-Shots in the Factory Library will have their tags updated to the new NKS 1.5 format ADDED Previews of loops selected in the Browser will be played in sync with the current project When a loop is selected in the Samples tab with Prehear turned on, it will begin playing immediately in-sync with the host if transport is running. If a loop preview starts part-way through the loop, the loop will play once more for its full length to ensure you get to hear the entire loop once in context with your project. IMPROVED Filters and product selections will be remembered when switching between content types and Factory/User Libraries in the Browser ADDED Browser content synchronization between multiple running instances When running multiple instances of KOMPLETE KONTROL, either as Standalone and/or as a plug-in, updates to the Library will be synced across the instances. For example, if you delete a sample from your User Library in one instance, the sample will no longer be present in the other instances. Similarly, if you save a preset in one instance, that preset will then be available in the other instances, too. ADDED Accessibility for A-Series keyboards via announcements in BROWSER, PLUG-IN (parameters, plug-in chain) SCALE, and ARP Enable / disable Accessibility Mode using SHIFT + IDEAS (top left button on keyboard + third button to the right in second row) Enter Training Mode by double tapping SHIFT when Accessibility is on Announcements for INSTANCE coming in a future update ADDED When browsing with A-Series, jump quickly to the results list by holding SHIFT and pushing right on the 4D Encoder ADDED Fast scroll through results list with A-Series by holding SHIFT and twisting the 4D Encoder ADDED Automatic Plug-in Focus (a.k.a. ‘Focus Follow’) and device auto-connect for A-Series when used with Ableton Live FIXED It is now possible to enter PLUG-IN from MIDI on A-Series keyboards REMOVED The dialog window prompting to download the Previews for the Factory Library The Previews are still available for download in Native Access if needed.

  46. Thanks, guys! I've been reading and trying and testing. Banging my head to walls in all directions. NI has turned confusing design and vague formulations into an art form. Their concept of client software; kontrol, kontakt, kontroller editor, native access, maschine and what not all contain more or less same instruments in a soup. On top comes the "player" series, in which i got a "full version" downloaded, which turned out to be a set of demos. And my kontroller editor does not work with A-series. Why on earth did they bundle it? Wasting weeks to understand, finding mostly stupid stuff, and things i cannot do with my new A-series keyboard. Oh! And I got back to Cakewalk the other day: What a nice pair of familiar, favourite jeans!

  47. That dialog serves just one purpose, enable some control over Cakewalk from keyboards/DPs which have no DAW controller functionality. For example if you have Digital Piano with 3 pedals, that assignment allow you to use up to 88 commands when let say left pedal is pressed. That is great feature I was missing in REAPER when I have switched. I have missed it so much that I have re-created that functionality there (till AZ Controller is written for REAPER). But specialized controllers are working throw specialized route. That has many advantages, including multi-functional buttons and combinations, feedback, etc.: Generic Surface is the simplest to learn and support all MIDI events (f.e. SysEx as on some MMC capable controllers). But it has fixed list of available operations Cakewalk ACT MIDI allow all commands from "General Bindings" page in preferences and simple one modifier combinations. But it does work fine with MIDI CC messages only (Note off are "leaking" in stock version) and implements fixed number of physical controls (8+1 buttons, 8+8 knobs or sliders) AZ Controller is most tricky to understand and configure from these 3, but it has no limitations (has feedback, OSC support, etc.) So there are several options how to configure the transport buttons, but MIDI assignments in the keyboard shortcut section is not the way to go in this case. At the moment I do not like NI: They have declared NKS (in part of common switching presets and light guide) proprietary and are not going to change that They are selling TFT monitors and LEDs as accessibility tool... (at least they have plans to change that with A, but for some reason that has not happened last months). If they fix at least issue (2), I can try to support S 2 and A. Technically that is possible (with AZ Controller).
