This cracks me up (and it's easily just as good as what counts as a top-10 hit now-a-days!).

There is no point in having this discussion here. There is no Cakewalk Anniversary Mac Edition. AFAIK, there are no plans for one. There is a thread requesting a Mac version in the feedback loop area. If you wish to continue this discussion, please do so over there.

This sounds more like a soundcard issue than a specs issue. ^^^ What he says^^^ Don't go throwing money around upgrading RAM, New Laptop only to find out your Soundcard is a Hugo. I used to use an I3 intel with 4GB of RAM (my mobile DAW) back when Sonar X1 was released. I had great results. But I also had a USB Focusrite scarlett.

This is quite amazing. Already got Syntronik, and this Memory-V (Moog) normally comes as a $50 add-on or as part of the costly Deluxe option. Thanks for this sweet freebie!

Hi, Kenny & Everybody in The Good Old Coffee House Crew!πŸ˜€ I'm looking forward to checking out Hired Gun, thanks for the recommendation!πŸ‘ Here's a bunch from Netflix that piqued my interest, I've only seen a few of them so far, but the descriptions looked interesting! As mentioned above, The History of the Eagles was fantastic, as well as the Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedoes at the bottom of this list. I've seen many really good ones were already removed from Netflix. Muscle Shoals about the famous studio, and "Artifact", about the current state of the big label music industry were both really good, and as Paulo mentioned above, Eagle Rock Entertainment's Classic Album Series is fantastic, and I think some of them are available to watch for free on Vudu. I'm still bumming that I missed Sound City before Netflix removed it! Here goes: Currently Available on Netflix (at least in my geographic location): Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage Foo Fighters - Back & Forth How the Beatles Changed the World The Doors - When You're Strange Metallica - Some Kind of Monster Now More Than Ever - The History of Chicago Rolling Stones - Crossfire Hurricane Bowie - The Man Who Changed the World George Harrison - Living in the Material World Joe Cocker- Mad Dog With Soul John Mellencamp - Plain Spoken Keith Richards - Under the Influence We Are Twisted F---ing Sister Oasis - Supersonic Springsteen And I Danny Says The Other One (Bob Weir/Grateful Dead) Kurt and Courtney Anvil -The Story of Anvil 27 Gone Too Soon SHOT Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Runnin' Down a Dream - Was on Netflix, but now on Youtube: Have a good one guys! https://www.overloud.com/user/download-installers 1.0.0 -> 1.0.2 -------------- - Looper: added possibility to save the tracks to audio file - Cabinet IR: added support for short IRs in WAV format which could lead to a crash - Fixed a hang at startup that could happen under certain circumstances - Fixed: effects now regain full opacity after being dragged - Fixed: dragging a ZIP file that contains only a bank of presets now does not trigger the "Rig Model Library Installed" dialog window.

I found a free sampled guitar instrument named "Shinyguitar" among the available Plogue sforzando SFZ player banks. It's a sampled shiny black archtop electric, with pickup and mic samples, with a control you can blend between them with on the sforzando UI. Samples have four velocity layers and 4 round robins. In all, there are 11 controls that you can adjust such as tone, vibrato, mutes, etc. It's clean and dry, but you can amp it up with the included Overloud TH-3 amp sim in Cakewalk! https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Plug-ins.2.html#1813385 Get sforzando for free here, standalone or VST, 32/64-bit: https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando.html Find sforzando banks here: https://www.plogue.com/products/sforzando-banks.html Shinyguitar download page: https://www.karoryfer.com/karoryfer-samples/wydawnictwa/shinyguitar I tried it out in this project and it sounds good with TH-3 cranked up. Note: to install the guitar sample library in sforzando, after you unzip it to your sforzando user files path, just drag and drop the included "Shinyguitar.bank.xml" file onto the sforzando UI to register it for use. This will automatically add "Shinyguitar" to the instrument menu in sforzando.

Looks like a plug-ins made with synthedit. It may require running CbB as administrator. Personally, I avoid using 32bit plug-ins whenever possible. This includes plug-ins made with synthedit.

Yep, for track #4 if you just click on that little downwards facing triangle in the output port settings box that is currently showing "1McrsftG...", you should see another entry available for the "DSK Electrik Guitar" instrument. If you choose that, then all MIDI output from track #4 will be routed to that guitar.
  19. 1 point
Yeah, the image is easier to read but it was pretty obvious from the uploaded image what was going on by the track icons. The MIDI track is currently pointing to the MS GS Wavetable synth. That was the only part that I could not make out. You need to get the MIDI data in that track pointed to the soft synth. There are several solutions provided in my first reply and the reply immediately below mine. If you find yourself working with a lot of MIDI files and do not use hardware synths, you may want to disable all MIDI output devices. Then opening MIDI files in CbB will automatically use TTS-1 the GM soft synth bundled with CbB. As a rule, avoiding the MS GS Wavetable synth is a good idea. You still need to add an additional audio tracks when replacing one of instruments in TTS-1 with a different synth but the routing will be a little more obvious.

I have done that, but usually as a means to an end. By that I mean, say I've got a MIDI part in an old project that was originally written for a hardware synth, I might feed that to an existing instrument track. But I'd usually just end up dragging the MIDI on to the instrument track if I'm happy it fits in. For other projects that were exclusively written using my old Yamaha XG module, I'll use a single instrument track with an XG VSTi, and feed all the MIDI parts to it. Again, this is usually because they're unfinished and it's easier to pick out the parts and use them in other projects if needed.
  21. 1 point
I use instrument tracks almost exclusively. Even if a VSTi is multi-timbral, I'll usually opt for having separate instrument tracks and accept the overhead of having more than once instance of the VSTi running. My reasons are: I can easily swap out one synth for another on a per track basis I only have to worry about one track instead of two and I can freeze them separately if needed.

The IK dude said they will allow the pre-release intro pricing to remain in effect for a limited time to accommodate folks that requested to compare the released versions instrument lists before making any decisions. Another comment he made was that the SampleTank 4 SE edition will come with more content than SampleTank 3 full version did.

Wasn't Kinetic Treats a holiday giveaway a few years ago?
  25. 1 point
Agreed... but not running Win10. If you're left with 1.5GB RAM (or less depending on how well it's optimized), that's running super lean. It wouldn't take much of anything to get the machine hitting the VM Swap-File (and that'll kill performance on any machine).
  26. 1 point
A well-configured lean install of Win10 will use about 2.5GB RAM when idle. That leaves a whopping 1.5GB for CbB and any plugins. Even if the OP was recording audio/MIDI only (no virtual instruments), that's running too lean and most likely hitting the Virtual Memory Swap-File (which absolutely kills performance).

Frank, so you can find around many such self-fathers Count me in. I am also preferring older look. I don't want to recall again look of looper which in TH-U is probably ugliest thing ever Well, I would say some elements from TH2 for me looked ways better. No mics hanging in air, They were mounted on stands.

At some point we're considering adding resampling on the fly to allow for running projects at different sample rates. We already do this for plugin upsampling so its technically feasible.

It is consistency --- of course. You are constantly putting out such good stuff.

Always use them here, both in Cakewalk/Sonar and now in Studio One since they added the feature in v4 (was in v3 but weak compared to Cakewalk). I did a video years ago that is still on my personal website to show what they are good for and why to use them. A few callout benefits to me are: 1. Seeing your kit parts grouped together (snares, cymbals, etc) 2. NOT seeing a bunch of blank space where there doesn't need to be any (notes that have no data recorded to them don't need to be shown) 3. Being able to put the mapped notes in any order for simplicity of viewing rather than based on the order they appear in the note list 4. Being able to easily see the relationships between sections of a song, similar to #1 above. 5. Being able to split the midi notes out to different parts on different instruments - like snare to Addictive drums and other kit pieces to hardware, like Vdrums. 6. Knowing that your recorded midi is always going to look the same, regardless of where you are going to port those notes. And others. Can you tell I like them?

Could use the Matrix View to loop the original 8 bar clip then while the Matrix View is playing the original clip record on another track. Here is one way to do it... Assume the original 8 bar clip is on track one. Make sure CbB will loop the clip as expected. To do this, turn the clip into a groove clip by selecting it and typing CTRL+L. The clip should completely fill all 8 bars. If it does not, open the clip into the Loop Construction View and adjust the beat count until the clip fills all 8 bars. May want to rename the clip in clip properties and drag it to the browser saving it for future use. Create a new audio track (track two) Open the Matrix View Drag the clip from track one into cell(1,1) in the Matrix View, set the row to play on track two and set Follow Transport on. Click on the clip in the cell. The clip should be flashing. Archive track one Create a new audio track for the new solo and set the track up for recording Start recording The 8 bar clip in the Matrix View should play as long as the transport is running.

I also recommend "Sound City". I watched it on a DVD from the library and my stereo (attached to my TV) never sounded so good. My contribution: The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years by Ron Howard. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2531318/ They were so good live it is unbelievable.
